M. Sofian H. 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2012 Jayapura, Papua. A Garuda Indonesia airplane skidded off of the runway at Sentani Airport in Jayapura on Wednesday. No one was injured, but a number of flights have been disrupted. Information gathered from eyewitnesses said the Boeing 737-800 aircraft was on the runway about to take off at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, when it lost balance while making a right turn. Its right wheels slid off the runway and the wheels got stuck in the ground. The plane was making connections in Timika, Denpasar and Jakarta and carried 153 passengers, all of whom were immediately evacuated. None of the passengers were injured, but the plane blocked the runway and at of time of writing had disrupted a number of other flights, including those of Batavia Air, Merpati Air, Express Air and Trigana Air. A team from the National Committee for Transportation Safety (KNKT) has been sent to the location and they are investigating the incident. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
