Mohd Suhaimi Fariz 2 Report post Posted November 3, 2011 Boeing 777 slides off Munich runway (AP) – 19 minutes ago BERLIN (AP) — A spokesman for Munich airport says a Singapore Airlines flight with some 200 passengers aboard slid off the runway just after landing but nobody was injured. Peter Pruemm says it is still unclear why the Boeing 777 arriving from Manchester, England, slid off the runway into the grass shortly after touching down at midday Thursday. He says firefighters safely evacuated all passengers and the plane appears not to have suffered great damage. Pruemm adds it was not immediately clear with what speed the plane slid off into the grass. He says one of the airport's two runways remains shut pending the plane's removal — likely causing major delays and some cancellations at Germany's second-largest hub. Teoh Z Yao 0 Report post Posted November 7, 2011 Captain wanna drift. Looks like a real nice clean beautiful drift. Man, was he trying to avoid a bird on the runway or something!

They're lucky that the aircraft didn't seem to suffer any wing tip strike. I'd imagine the landing gears need a thorough inspection though. Heard from sources that the pilot was attempting to autoland the aircraft but went wonkie instead.

Jeez, my g/f was on this SQ flight back in June! It'd be interesting to read the investigation report. A source has that the T7 was back in the sky in no time though. Teoh Z Yao 0 Report post Posted November 20, 2011 Yes it is. Umm... So it was captured on video. In the video, the S-drift doesn't look that obvious.
Gavin Andrew David 6 Report post Posted November 20, 2011 really weird, but if you look closely on the flare, it looks to me like there was a sudden gust there
Teoh Z Yao 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2011 A gust that blows it sideways as I see it. Clearly, there the plane pitched up a few seconds after the nosewheels had touched down though. Again, the S-drift really isn't obvious in this video.
