Guest Levent Report post Posted June 28, 2009 The following is a small photo report of the AirPower 09 Air Show held at Zeltweg Air Force Base in Austria. The last air show here was in 2005, and this year's show was visited by 280,000 people over two days. Small but sweet... the F-16 Fighting Falcon. This one is from the Belgian Air Force. A bit bigger and more impressive is this Hungarian Air Force MiG-29 Fulcrum. One of the early generation fighter jets. Switzerland had a large fleet of Hawker Hunters. One of the most beautiful aircraft ever built, in my opinion: the PBY-5 Catalina amphibian. Nice and shiny and beautifully restored Lockheed P-38 Lightning of Red Bull. Quite an impressive sight, this C-130 Hercules of the Austrian Air Force. Zeltweg was the first air show where the Austrian Eurofighters were shown to the public, although they were already operational during the Euro 2008 football matches last year. Compare the Eurofighter Typhoon with this World War I fighter... The German Army gave an impressive solo display with this CH-53 Super Stallion.

Guest Levent Report post Posted June 29, 2009 Was the MIG flying or just static ? The MiG-29 was only in the static display, which is a shame of course... The Hungarians flew with the Saab Gripen.

Waiping 12 Report post Posted July 5, 2009 The pix of 2 EuroFighters is amazing, and the Sikorsky reminds me of a scene from Transformers.
