Fraport, Changi May Invest In China Airport

November 3, 2008

German airport operator Fraport and Singapore's Changi Airport were among those shortlisted to invest in a new airport project in China's Kunming, the South China Morning Post reported on Monday.

A fund run by Australia's Macquarie was also shortlisted for the project, the newspaper said, citing market sources.

The investors may pay as much as USD$900 million for a stake in the planned airport project southwest of China, the report said. The interested investors may also be allowed to take a stake in the company that will operate the airport, it said.

Changi Airport, one of Asia's busiest aviation hubs with 36.7 million passengers passing through its terminal in 2007, is controlled by the Singapore government's Temasek Holdings.
