  1. 9M-MAB was down for a few hours what seems to be one of the engines having reverse thrust issue yesterday. A333+B738 were used to sub the sick plane's duty. Again sending the plane on nearly 4-6 sectors a day glitches are bound to happen and you dont have a backup plane of the same type. SIA and RBA had OTP issues with their a359 and b788 during the first few months due to technical issue. So anyone willing to try out new planes on any airlines be prepared for eqv change or extreme flight retiming etc to occur.

Engine number 1 inboard reverser unable to stow. Rectified...

To be fair no part of the message makes any sense to me at all. No solution, funny English (wonder who they hire for customer engagement), and to be honest, the first sentence sounds pompous and patronizing, or a really bad attempt at empathy. Looks a lot like passing the buck to me and you end up at a dead end.

Telling you to to call the 1 300 number pretty much sends you to oblivion. It's so bad that at the regional lounge the staff there told a foreign pax to call the number and select Bahasa instead of English, as selecting English would channel you to the outsourced call centre way out in the Pacific...

  3. Best announcement just now on MH782 by the IFS ladies and gentlemen please note that cabin crew are not allowed to upgrade without authority

Apparently some J pax tried to upgrade to the F seat.... but to have it announced publicly like that was quite strange

Hahahahaha I heard that too. Thought it was a sticky mic in the cockpit but it wasn't! Let me add... 'without authority of the company'...

  4. Did MH explicitly state anywhere pre-purchase something along the lines of "Pay J fare get F seat on our brand new A350 on our regional flights"? I don't think so.

Or is your booking just based on an assumption on the back of availability of the F seats for sale?

If I were you I would be happy to get a J seat on the 359 rather than the flight being downgauged to the 738, or worse, the -FF or -ML series 738!

  5.

Yes, this is not a news site and most MWingers don't do this professionally - they also have daytime jobs. It takes time to post process the photos and as Azahan has said, the weather that day was bad - so more work needs to be done on the photos.... Furthermore, our guys are invited guests of MAB (and MAHB) and they may have to fulfill some obligations to them as a priority.

    Patience will be rewarded.

    It's a world of instant gratification, patience isn't a virtue anymore :)

I think I saw one of you lot on the aircraft...

  6.

DCA no longer requires the flag to fly facing the wind, so it's not really flying backwards.

It's not about DCA requirement, it's about how it looks. Well to each his own I suppose. Guess it's not really a flag livery otherwise it would've been like an actual flag on a flagpole. What about the severed wau? They've introduced yet another variant of the wau, now there are three of them. At least now it's consistent with the corporate logo, though inverted :)

Pardon my obsession with the wau inconsistency...

  7. They have been under the Umno led BN government since 1972. The current PM has been in that government for many, many years. He is, as a member of the cabinets that he has served in, collectively responsible for the fiascos of the past.

Sounds like the current PM does not understand how this country is administered! Very sad!

Nothing I could do but shook my head as I heard that, anyway, the flag is flying backwards, and the wau has been cropped. They messed up the wau again.

  8. I don't think MAB's branding is as messy as Lion Group now :clapping:

I think they're both messy, MAB's wau is inconsistent to say the least, the corporate logo wau and the tail logo wau aren't similar, the newest 738 logo looks cropped out and unfinished, and on some ground vehicles the wau appears to fly backward, whose idea is this?

  9.

for me he's overdramatic, so? if i were one of those onboard, the last thing i would want to hear from the pilot is that he's leaving it to God to save the flight aka he has no control at all. simple logic

I suppose wrong choice of words here by the PIC. Human factor. If I were a passenger with the cabin rattling like that last word I want to hear is "pray". Also at one point he said something along the lines of our survival depends on your cooperation, again, not reassuring at all. Survive what? A one-engine out emergency landing on a proper runway at an airfield? This ain't Cactus 1549..

Did he said that he leaves it to God and did nothing? Man, give credit where it is due. He brought the plane down safely and everyone survived. If it was you who is the pilot, would that have happned? Hypothetical question.

No doubt he brought the a/c down safely, as would any other sufficiently trained air crew, that's in his job description. No need for a retort in the form of a hypothetical question, if Khalil was the pilot he would have landed it safely as he would have got similar training to the captain to end up in the left seat, wouldn't he? Enough gushing with the credit, let the investigation take its due course before we celebrate our own version of toned down Sully.

With the double incident the damage has been done though through no apparent fault of AK. Flying public is going to be wary of AK for now as they were when MH17 and 370 went down.
