  1. Wow, it is 2018 already - Happy New Year to all at Malaysian WIngs!

2017 was a busy delivery year - this is the final tally:

What can we expect in 2018?

Airasia Group - more A320Neos will arrive soon.

Airasia X Group - more used A330-300 should arrive in 1H; the first A330-900 in the 2H

MAG - the remaining A350-900s should arrive in 1H; ex-AB A330-200s will arrive too

Malindo/Batik Air Malaysia - no real information on this but maybe we will see properly configured 737 Max arriving; they might also get the A330 for their Haj operations.

Another interesting year ahead for all of us!

At the moment, no aircraft slated to be delivered to OD not even the MAX. If anything can expect a few ex Batik 738/739. 2 ATR's from OD will be going to Wings. Late last year 2 ATR were transferred to Wings.

Things could change in the year.

  2. seems like such short periodof time when they send the A380s to these destinations are more so for likely because the A330s are in for heavy or scheduled maintenance, rather than a real upguage for a sustained period of time. Its all just temporary and as MAB have few A38s sitting on the ground.

Well if you think about it, there will be more A330's by AUG 2018 so it's probably more to do with the loads for that month. In hindsight if they have the loads it's better that the A380 flies rather then being parked on ground. At least they are trying to improvise load and aircraft availability/usage

  3. Every new incoming CEO will always say and pledged to turn things around and to return to profitability. The current new CEO, CPT Ismail who have been with MAS for 38 years may find it perhaps more challenging as he has been in and with the system for so many years. Generally it takes a outsider to be able to see things in a clearer and objective perspective. But let's give him a chance and see how it will pen out. But with MAB still holding on and unable to do anything with its 6 A380s, it will be financially heavy on MAB to service the lease payments of these planes idling on the ground or flying min hours.

    Seems like they are trying

  4. NEJ has been transferred/sold to an operator in Indonesia. NEF is the sole aircraft in Neptune's fleet.

Geoff NEP B722 has been donated/sold to a university. Have seen a picture of it in a hangar with students in the background. I believe it is in JB. Maybe someone can clarify.

  5. dont know there's a viable market between indonesia and india especially the sumatera region or maybe they are relying on ex/in KUL pax

From Medan there is a small market, however this is mainly due to the fact that Malaysian carriers cannot get more slots in Chennai. So Malindo use's batik to work their way around getting slots and they have the chennai route pretty much.

  6. The first 4 737 max are lion air configured so i guess, theyre really meant for lion. I had no idea why they decided it was a good idea to give them to malindo seeing all the complaints by business class passengers being strip to y. Looking at this photo i think theyre aware of the complaints by passengers.

Actually they were destined for Thai Lion Air. But pay request by their pilots to fly max meant they scrapped the plan. So in the end Malindo took it. Silliest move they made as you say.

  7. Interesting indeed - it means that Malindo thinks that three LCC configured aircraft will be sufficient on its network.

If it is indeed going to Batik Indonesia, it is a reversal of their plan to go all Airbus.... strange - it sounds like Lion Group does not have a coherent fleet plan for its airlines!

Some rumours are Lion may cancel airbus order. Time will tell.
