  1. Got an offer from MH too for upgrade. I paid extra RM250 for BKI-KUL. I don't really put high hope of getting upgraded. So, even if not successful, MH will refund you. :)

They actually don't charge you the full amount you're bidding. They just take out RM1 as initial authorisation.

  2. i just received an email from MH regarding an opportunity to upgrade to the next class through a scheme I've never heard of called "MH Upgrade". It seems to be a bidding system similar to how other airlines Like Etihad have been doing it.

  3. Is the double elite and double enrich miles promotion only for the selected few? I did not receive any email on this.

These were the contents of the email:

"We'd love to see you next year

Earn more Elite Miles to keep enjoying Platinum privileges

2x ELITE MILES 2X ELITE SECTORS PROMOTION PERIOD

    15 OCT - 15 DEC 2014

    Dear Mr. Lee,

We hope you are enjoying the much coveted privileges accorded to you

as an Enrich Platinum member (which also carries the oneworld® Emerald

    tier status):

    Business Class priority check-in

    Fast track at security lanes

    Preferred boarding and seating

    Priority on waitlists and standby

Access to over 600 airport lounges worldwide for you

and a guest, regardless of class flown

As someone who is accustomed to the best of air travel, you would probably

want to keep your Platinum status. However, we notice that you have not

reached the 100,000 Elite Miles / 100 Elite Sectors needed to requalify for

your tier. With this in mind, we are offering you this special fast-track privilege:

Earn Double Elite Miles on top of your 30% Elite Tier Bonus

or Double Elite Sectors for your travel class.

Fly with Malaysia Airlines or any other oneworld member airline from

    15 Oct to 15 Dec 2014.

It has been a great pleasure to have you at Platinum and we hope to continue

to be of service to you next year.

    Warm regards,

    Enrich

It was quite saddening to see that the Enrich team doesn't even know the difference between enrich miles and enrich elite miles. Unless of course the programme's heading towards awarding bonus miles AND tier miles proportional to status!

  4. Flights on MH metal only?

No mention of that, but I would assume so.

Yeap, had it set that way for the past 2 years (HHonors) but decided to switch to points + points since it never worked for me !

Slightly OT, but does any other FFP offer status matching with Enrich / OneWorld Sapphire ?

You could try Etihad or Emirates. Not sure what tier they'd match you to though.

  5. Just received an email regarding a double enrich elite miles AND double enrich elite sector for all flights with MAS and/or oneworld airlines from 15th Oct to 15th Dec.

Also, I managed to clarify The Platinum Prestige tier as previously described by Henry. Apparently to qualify, you must have flown 100k elite miles or 130 elite sectors all in either business or first class. It's actually called "Platinum Plus" and "kept for internal record" to quote the email I received.

  6.

Anybody managed to have Enrich miles posted from Seri Pacific (ex-Pan Pacific next to PWTC) or Hilton (HHonors Diamond) offers ?

Despite making sure my Enrich number was recorded down , never had it posted once from any hotels.

I've always had all my HIlton stays credited into my Enrich account, maybe check to see if your MyWay preferences are set at miles + points?

  7. IMHO, MH F-lounge stands out for one reason alone; super friendly and yet attentive staff members who actually remember you and your name, some of whom I have befriended. If you're an E-Plat, their meet & greet service with kerbside drop off, immigration done during check in, skipping of immigration queues(can you imagine the look on J/F class passengers queuing up :pardon: ), utilisation of cabin crew/MAHB staff lanes for security, and escort from kerbside to check in to security to lounge to duty free to secondary security to gate to your seat on the plane would hardly be considered as "sub-standard ground service". Maybe MH should consider rolling out this Meet & Greet service to F passengers regardless of status.

  8. Do we dare to do so in Malaysia? Most likely one or two will hoohaa about it, and the rest will just look away... sad. Our civil servants have turned the table to become master and we tax payers become slave.. Paying taxes so that this MPs and Sr.servants able to fly business class so called to support MAS !! Anyway, no politics here... I am cautioned..

Well, in the PIA's issue, it appears that it is common that PIA will delay to wait for such VIPs and inconvenience the rest of the passengers is pretty common.

But more so it is about politics, really..

And first class, and their private jets, we mustn't forget those too.

  9. Am I missing something, or is MH's website not displaying any information on their OW partners? I can find a list of non-OW airlines like AF/KL but their own alliance...

It's under the "oneworld" section. Upon clicking the link, further links on the booking classes and eligible miles earned will be on the left hand side. I had trouble finding the page myself.

  10. BA's self check in process might be easier and better implemented than MH's. We are loooking at the end result here - will MH be inconveniencing all its pax by this mandatory self check in process? Is this process well thought out? Is the rest of MH equipped for this change? Are there sufficient kiosks at the airport for those who cannot web check in? etc. etc.

Our experience with Malaysian companies (especially GLCs) is not good. Very often things are half baked when introduced as they have not thought through all the processes in detail. End result - CHAOS...

So, lets see what happens on the 15th July 2014... ;)

I guess things are chaotic enough as it is to warrant a change in "strategy" haha. I guess Enrich status holders can see this as a positive enhancement to the program seeing that they are allowed to check in "normally". Personally, I always prefer self check in to preselect seats, too cheapskate to prebook seats at a fee.

  11. But they also do not require you to compulsorily self check in.

BA does require world traveller/domestic/euro traveller (economy passengers) to self check in before proceeding to bag drop off, they usually have ground agents enforcing this as well as helping passengers out should problems arise.

The exception to this rule when flying economy is if you have status with oneworld.

  12. Just enquired about a last minute upgrade at the lounge regarding my KUL-MEL flight this morning.

RM1300 for the upgrade and booked into I class which is essentially an enrich redemption upgrade. Apparently, catering depends on availability but the ground staff were able to confirm with me that catering would be economy class catering.

Decided to give it a miss seeing that miles accruel would probably end up being a nightmare etc.
