  1. Come on... just give them a chance... AA operated in DFW at three different terminals... let them operate 1st, If it's not working, let's coming back here and bad-mouthing them!

Inter-terminal transfers available airside for DFW I believe. None available between KLIA MTB/SAT and KLIA2/LCCT airside. Nightmare for transit passengers.

The announcement mentioned that select "leisure" flights would be operated from KLIA2. I don't think that there'd be much transit happening from these so called leisure flights, of course I might be wrong

Then again perhaps we should wait until they clarify what they really mean by these "leisure" flights before we start bashing them about it

Regardless, I'd personally always be a transit passenger with my final destination being KCH. This sounds like hassle, hassle, hassle. And what about my Golden Lounge?!?! T.T

  2. It is a scary moment indeed for just about anyone who have flown before. Having fuel leak mid-air, quickly conjured the image of the Concord air disaster.

Surprisingly there is no call for an urgent evacuation. The fire look quite big. Perhaps the Captain know best as he was at his best position to determine a call is needed or not for an evacuation. It is a good day that no one is hurt.

I was under the ill-informed presumption that an oil leak triggered the turn back, and sparks from the brakes on landing triggered the fire due to combustion of vaporised fuel being leftover as a result of the mid-air dumping?

  3. Surprised that Kuching will be their destination instead of Sabah. HongKongers have been living their entire life enveloped in a metropolitan city of concrete jungle, and their getaway would most likely somewhere more nature like, places like Sipadan. Anyways, its always good to have foreign visitors to the country no matter which states.

I'm pretty sure Kuching/Sarawak has "nature" as well! :acute: I suppose it might be due to the security scares over the past few months over the waters of Sabah, or perhaps bigger incentives from the S'wak state government.

  4. Quick question, can enrich members earn on ALL EK flights or only earn on selected EK flights that MH has codeshared? Reading the MH website, I understood it to be only on EK flights that MH codeshares.

I suspect it's typical MH not updating their website as usual. There's been news article by The Star and a press release from EK stating that ALL flights are eligible. But of course, don't take my word for it! The only way to know for sure is to try. ;)

  5. Just flew SYD-KUL and my my what a difference it was; didn't want to wake up for landing! Contrary to pictures seen during the launch, the bedding remains the same, scratchy pseudo-silk, yellowy duvet and pillow. Being a side-sleeper, I thought I would face problems with sleep because of the narrow looking footwell; this wasn't the case at all in 1K. Just be careful with your small personal belongings when in bed mode, there is a sizeable gap by the side of the arm rest in bed mode and my dropped item was lost forever. Overall, a huge improvement and staff morale was high on this flight presumably because of the new product? (N=1 so not statistically significant really).

  6. I have a question then,if so...say the partnership between MH and EK is non exclusive...why did MH severe all ties with other airlines??? Does it make sense then?

Because the first airline in a multi-segment, multi-airline routing is liable for any losses or damages to the bag. For example, KCH-KUL on MH and onwards KUL-DXB on Emirates, even though the EK sector's the longer sector, MH will still be liable.

  7.

And Suzanne guessed it again. The new configuration is out per airlineroute.net. Total of 6 rows in the new configuration. 1-7 (missing row 3) and 2 additional rows in Y between doors 1 and 2 (Row 9 and 10). I think this must be the first longhaul A333 I've seen with mixed J/Y configuration between doors 1 and 2.

First route is SYD on MH 140/141 (daylight ex-KUL) beginning 23MAR16.

    Let's hope they block 1/4/6 K for OWE :D

Shall we plan a trip for this flight? 🤓

  8. Further info now available on MH's website regarding the code share partnership. From the Enrich side of things, miles AND elite miles accrual for EK code-shared flights but EK tickets not redeemable with enrich miles. Passengers travelling Y on EK will not be afforded lounge access, but if flying J, you'll be able to guest a member into the Golden Lounge as an Enrich Gold or Platinum.

  9. The seat here looks slightly different from the unveiling ceremony in London in November 2015. Has there been some tweaking done? And completion in all 15 A333s is scheduled in September 2016.

I think it looks nicer in the thompsonaero press release, colour tones very much in line with the A388's current business class

  10. Good to know BA is enjoying good load for KUL. I guess BA is still testing the market for consistency in long term. KUL has been a 'long-thin' market for BA and most EU airlines. The A380 that MH has deployed must have overkilled the market a bit, MH really needs their A350 asap.

The closest aircraft BA can deploy will be

    B744: F14C52W36Y235

    B772ER: F14C48W40Y122 OR F13C48W32Y127

    B77W: F14C56W44Y183

I do hope to see BA 744 on our shore....but wishful thinking...

A swap to anything other than the A388 would be a huge downgrade for the passenger experience IMHO. My recent flight on the B789 was a very positive and un-BA experience indeed, and that's a good thing, haha.

  11. I flew MH1 2 weeks ago and about to fly MH2 in 2 days time. They also pushed forward the departure time of both flights by about 30mins, so on MH1 we were scheduled to depart at 930pm instead of the original 10pm, but due to a delay we left at 10 anyway. AFAIK that's the only timing update we got.

Also, do MH 380 flights still switch on the tail cameras now? The cam wasn't on for takeoff and landing for MH 1.

It was off for my last few A388 flights with them for the past two months now

  12. Are they supposed to do that ? I mean an intentional delay, considering what chaos that would inflict upon 'restricted' airports such as LHR, especially during the peak morning hours

Not a clue, but they did it anyway! I was told my LHR-bound flight was delayed to prevent 40+ passengers from misconnecting. To be fair though, my KCH-KUL was also delayed 4 hours, and had I not noticed and changed myself to an earlier, but also delayed flight, I would've misconnected had the LHR flight not been delayed.

  13.

Yeap. Medical diversion. KLIA should be like a warzone. Lots of passengers with outbound flight to MEL, SYD, PER and AKL missed their morning flight connection due to this diversion.

Last week, all Europe-bound flights were delayed to accommodate delayed Australia-inbound and domestic flights. On time performance gone down the drain.

  14.

I'm about to find out how its like to transfer from a BA domestic flight to an MH flight soon enough, though transferring from a BA international flight to a domestic flight was bad enough.

    (Long time lurker here)

Just did it a week ago, and tomorrow as well. Not that bad really, just get the ground staff to check in straight through to your final MH destination. Then, a short (relatively) bus ride from T5 to T4 airside. Just make sure they get the dates of your flights correct for your baggage tag!
