Wow ... Adam Air also flies into PEN ... may have to bring my son Adam spotting at PEN soon
-
I also read this news in The Star (not the online version - newspaper version lah!) this morning ... does this mean that the GB shop will no longer be in KL?!? I'm not going to Subang or KLIA to buy my models ... then again, I can 'kill 2 birds with 1 stone' by going spotting as well ... hmm
I personally doubt they could find serious buyers for their building ... for rental, maybe ... supply for office space have actually exceeded demand nowadays!

Frustrated and sad to read Kelvin B's posting ...
So guys ... still wanna fly MH huh?!?
-
Mana photo?!?

Finally ... a comment from someone south of the border! Thanks KC
I know these are all in the past ... but I still think MH, and not SQ, should have inherited MSA's old colours ... irrespective of all the historial facts and arguments

I'm a proud Malaysian and love to fly MH than any other airlines ... but some of the stuff that's been going on, MH's digging their own grave, IMHO! In all instances that I have flown in my life, the only reason I've not flown on MH was due to economic factors ... make their ticket cheaper and you'll get me and my family to happily fly MH, no questions asked!
-
Guys! This is a free world, free market ... ditch MH and fly the alternatives available ... AK, SQ, OS, QF, NZ, KL, LH ... all ok what ... also, perhaps MH would want to reconsider their A380 order! Hmm ... my DW MH's A380 model could really fetch a good price from eBay ...

Back for your hols in mid Jan ... seems a bit late considering uni reopens in late Feb/early March?
I only did my Year 12/Form 6 in ADL back in 1983. It was at Norwood High (now Norwood-Morialta High I understand) in Magill. I (and a few others) stayed in Gilbert Street in the south-east corner of the city (house was infront of a pub). In 1984 onwards I transferred to MEL (where the action is ) to study Civil Engineering at uni

Urgh ... sorry for asking you Sandeep ... you've really got some bad ones with those Ozzies!
Seems a bit wierd though ... for all the good part of the 1980s that I spent in Melbourne (plus 1 year in Adelaide) as a student ... it wasn't all that bad! Even during the last 7 or 8 odd years when I've travelled to Oz ... not too bad lah, with the exception of one or two incidences which I've shared here before.
Perhaps during the 1980s, all the unnecessary suspicion wasn't really there, and in my later years, I've always travelled with my wife and kids ... but then still no justification for the pathetic behaviour

Liam, Walter, guys ...
A New South Wales Waratahs Super 12 Rugby jersey bought in Queenstown (New Zealand)'s Canterbury of NZ Shop was made in .... yes ... you guessed it ... China!
A British & Irish Lions NZ Tour 2005 Rugby jersey bought at Rebel Sports in Adelaide's Myer Centre in Rundle Mall was made in ... yes ... you guessed it ... China!
Me ... out of topic again ... as usual

HEY GUYS GUESS WHAT HAPPEN TO MY FLIGHT JUST NOW FROM AKL-KUL.WHILE WAITING FOR PAX TO BOARD THE PLANE.....THE AERO-BRIDGE COLLAPSE
AND DAMAGE THE WHOLE DOOR AND ARCF SKIN. THE WHOLE DOOR WAS DRAG DOWNWARD. THE ENGINEER TOLD ME AIR ZEALAND HAS NO SPARE DOOR AND WE HAVE TO WAIT FOR KUL TO SEND ANOTHER DOOR. NOW STUCK HERE TILL NEXT YEAR. WAIT TILL I REACH HOME AND TRY TO UPLOAD SOME PICTURE I TOOK FROM MY PDA.....NOT VERRY CLEAR
No joke! Is this a 747 or 777 flight? Would it be nice if the AKL airport authorities replaces the flight with a NZ 747 or their brand new 777
Cheer up Nicholas ... you'll reach home in no time! Be patient bro!

This is definitely off topic ... personally I find the Customs officers at Perth to be biggest a-h's ... followed by (in order) ADL, BNE, MEL and SYD. This is coming from someone who travels regularly to those cities in Oz for the last 7 years.
So Sandeep, what did the Customs officers do to you that made you totally pissed off ... story, story lah!

Actually Singapore had wanted to do it the easy way - they even thought of using the old MSA acronym - for Mercury Singapore Airlines, so they would not have to spend much on rebranding (Mercury was the name of the ship in which Stamford Raffles first travelled to Singapore). But Malaysia's opposition to the use of the old acronym of MSA and the fact that the name Mercury would not mean much to its image (being an obscure name in history as it is), they used the current name. The playing field was not even then. We managed to catch up but as with the 1979 MYR-SGD fiasco, someone decided to screw it up apparently for the heck of it.
Ok, noted! The point here is that SQ had the 1st choice option to do whatever they wanted to do to the 'image' that was in existence since the late 1940s. The sad part is that it appeared that MH didn't do much to object either! So which airline can claim that they are alomost 60 years old now ... MH or SQ? To me, looks like MH is only about 33 years old then!

Do colours really matter? At the end of the day, SIA has outperformed MAS in many regards, especially financially!!! In terms of Service, MH hands down! But I think the new colours of MAS as oppose to MSA are symbolic of the carriers need to start anew... SIA got all the 'long-range' fleet and international destinations.. whilst MAS got the F27s and a couple of B737s to cover the domestic services... who knows how this happend when MSA stemmed from MALAYAN AIRWAYS! At the end of the day, I believe SIA had the upper hand then, and they still do now! But MAS can change that with good management policy and efficiency! I hope this does happen, the country and its people are the ones who will truly benefitBut MAS Blue, Red, White and Grey are our new colours and hopefully the ones that will see it through to recovery and the dawn of a new golden era for MAS
The issue here is not so much the colours Sandeep. I suppose you did sort of mention what I had suspected all this while; i.e. SQ had the upper hand then ... so I reckon they had the 1st choice of using MSA's colours!
-
Guys - I need you feedback on this. Looking at the original colours of SQ, it appears that SQ has inherited the colours of MSA. However, in the case of our own MH, our original colours were red and white.
Going by the flag colours of Singapore, don't you think MH's red and white is more appropriate for them rather than us? In the case of SQ's original colour of yellow white and dark blue ... hey ... that's 3 of the 4 colours of our Jalur Gemilang! Also, MSA's colours were inherited from it's predecesssor, i.e. Malayan Airways.
Am I missing something here or does anyone know the history why MH didn't adopt MSA's colours, thus allowing SQ to adopt those colours? Or is this the classic case of MH being 'arm twisted' by the more 'dominant' partner?!?

Doing what they say and giving them what they want is the worrying part for me Liam! I have this bloody bad habit of arguing with those 'with authority' especially when I find them being unreasonable in exercising their authorty
I once argued with the Customs officer (quite a junior guy going by his facial looks) in your good old PER airport when I arrived for my family hols from KUL in 2001. He wanted to confiscate my Maggi instant noodles from my luggage stating that it was not allowed into Oz. I duly reminded the guy that the same stuff went through ok at MEL just a year before. His reply was, "this is Perth mate and not bloody Melbourne!" Lucky me his supervisor observed the whole heated incident between this particular Malaysian tourist (and his family) with his officer; and the supervisor duly told his officer that this particular food is ok! You should look at the guy's face ... he was pissed to the max!!!
Ok! Ok! Ok! I need to control myself ... that's all I need to do in order not to ruin the whole thing for everyone else right

Apprehending suspects too?!? What harm can innocent spotters like us do? Suspects of what? Alamak ... now I'm worried

Someone asked how many KLM 747-400's are operating in new colours now, and, finally, received the list from the technical dept. (however, cannot find the original post anymore, so, will put it here ):PH-CKA, CKB, CKC all freighters +
PH-BFG, BFI, BFK, BFM, BFN, BFO, BFP, BFR, BFT, BFU, BFY...
It does mean, more or less, that the earliest -400's (BFA till BFH, except BFG), are still in the OLD colours
... and if I may ask Pieter; which ones are painted using KLM Asia's livery?!?

So if one gets caught at the hill behind Petronas, what can MAB's police do? They do not have any so-called 'police powers' do they? They can't even request to view our ICs, can't they? I somehow prefer this hill more than the Weather Station.

Guys - I posted the message below on Dec 27 2005, 09:00 AM under the topic "Spotters as Security Agents (instead of as pests)" which was originally started by Bro Attan. Unfortunately there was no response as I suspected I may have posted it under the wrong topic. Could someone comment whether the hill behind Petronas is now permanently out of bounds?!?
My posting on 27/12/05;
"Whilst on the topic of spotting; me and my son Adam went spotting yesterday. I realised that a barricade (removable fence) was placed on the entrance to the road leading up to the hill behind Petronas Even though I could remove the barricade (as it was not that heavy), I decided not to proceed to the hill out of fear! Is this area permanently out of bounds now?
We however proceeded to the hill at the Weather Station and spotted loads of take-offs We bumped into Jonathan (well, I think it was Jonathan - recognisable from various photos of him here) and said 'hi' just as when I was about to leave and him arriving."
