  1. No offence taken and no apologies are necessary. This is a forum and we should be able to express our thoughts freely.

     

    My main problem with this B744 classic is that MAB has not given an adequate explanation to the downgrade for its LHR services.

     

    They have 6 A380's and have said that they need only 4 to service this route. Theoretically, the 2 surplus aircraft should be able to cover any maintenance gaps. So why the heck do they need a 7th aircraft (B744) to substitute for the A380s when they go into maintenance?

    True. Many Australians blamed Air NZ for screwing up Ansett, it was not like Air NZ was in any good shape after Ansett went down. Air NZ had to ask the NZ government for help and cash injections (like MH did for several times).

    The Aussies will always blame the Kiwis. Anyway, it was a blessing for MAS in the 80s when MAS needed many pilots and they came in handy. I flew with most of them when they were promoted to DC10 and they were good.


  3. I understand your sentiment but looking of many of MH crew recently, I have to say that they have to do something about the "fitness" level of some of the crew. I think its now about the look but the appearance that matters. Crew need to be fit regardless of cabin or tech.

     

    How do you know that MH crew members are not fit?


  4. Bicycle allowance was created in the mid 70s more for office boys and dispatchers who had to travel quite a lot to deliver mails and documents since MAS offices and hangars are far apart. Even though the allowance is still in the system but most probably in the HR archive system as the allowance is not stated in the MASEU's CA. The allowance must be very low, most probably one or two ringgit only. Currently, allowance for driving in apron such as tow tug, jcpl n loaders is only RM35.00 per month.

    No, CM did not realise it but was realised that it's still in the system by RMO team a few months ago.


  5. CEO needs his team to execute his plan, for sure union will the first to complain. If no rumbling from union mean this is purely rumour.

    KK Lee, correct me if I'm wrong as I believe you are not from MAS. You have no idea about MAS Unions or Associations. These Unions and Associations are not strong but the Management is very very weak and lack in leadership. The management is also clueless where to take MAS; FSC or LCC or in between. Increase fare or reduce fare. To increase load factor or yield. But one thing for sure the management keep expanding management post by hiring people externally at high salary.

    anyways doubt Khazanah can be able to turnaround MAS in 3 to 4 years time even if at all. So far it says it identifies a few areas of weaknesses and issues but then again why didn't they find these or do something about it back in 2007 - or for that matter all along since then as they have been owning MH at 70% since then and were suppose to turn MH around all these time??

    Now the main thing so far is that they come up with a new posts and change the people at the top ie the CEO and the CFO.

    Do one think that really Khanzanah can even pull this restructuring off and turn MAS into a little profitable airline not just for a year or two of profitability but sustain it. Already with the impending Asean Open Sky policy, it will even be more difficult for MAS to compete - unless the government protects MAS and the open sky policy.

    Actually who messed up MAS. Khazanah, since 2001 MAS has lost 8.4 billion ringgit and nobody wanted to do anything?

    Either the people who run Khazanah are so stupid or they some some hidden agenda.

    Remember they failed on CCF with AK and people blamed the Unions. If the government really wanted it done, it would have been done. When the government ever listen to The trade unions?

    Not only visibility, you also need to consider cloud base and wind condition especially the direction and speed. All covered in the metar and also in tafor.

    Just a long shot here, but hopefully, someone has the data.[/size]

     

    I flew with MH and AK a couple of times, with some 3K KUL sectors. Being an aviation enthusiast, I try to log down the details of the aircraft I flew on.

     

    There were a few flights I wasn't able to capture the registrations. I tried all sources, looking through my own photos, ACARS, Libhomeradar, and even wrote to MH and AK without avail. Most flights were pre 2012 where data isn't readily available, and I hoping someone can help with them.

MULTIMEDIA Development Corporation (MDeC) chief executive officer Badlisham Ghazali(pic) has resigned and will be taking over as managing director of Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB), which has been facing public scrutiny over the escalating costs and delayed opening of the Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (klia2).

    The contract of current MAHB managing director Bashir Ahmad Abdul Majid, who has been heading the company since 2003, expires tomorrow (June 6). The company is expected to issue a statement to Bursa Malaysia by 5pm today.

    MAHB, which manages nearly all airports in Malaysia, has 10 subsidiaries under it. It is 40.2% owned by Khazanah Nasional Bhd, the Malaysian Governments investment arm which operates under the Ministry of Finance.

  9. My point is how come this company (which I can't find any info on what they are doing but having its registered office in Krysal Points Suites in Bayan Lepas) can be registered in Penang but doing business in KLIA but not PIA ?........

    Is there any restriction that only companies registered in KL and Selangor can work or get contract at KLIA, not those registered at other states?

    Improved expansion proposals published by Heathrow today are the only way to connect all of the UK to growth.

    Heathrow today announced an improved plan to expand the UKs hub airport that will create more than 100,000 new UK jobs and at least £100bn of UK economic benefits by connecting all of the UK to global growth.

    The figures are part of Heathrows revised expansion plans that will be submitted tomorrow to the Airports Commission. The submission follows discussions with local residents and businesses, the public, businesses around the country, passengers, airlines and elected representatives across the UKs nations and regions. Heathrow is the UKs only hub and the only option that will connect the whole of the UK to new emerging economies, bringing jobs and prosperity to the country. It is deliverable, fundable and will create a world-class global gateway to make Britain proud. And it proposes to go further than any other large-scale UK infrastructure project in compensating for its impact on surrounding communities.

     

    Key elements of Heathrows proposals include:

     

    Every nation and region of Britain to be connected to global markets:

    More than 100,000 new jobs created. This includes 50,000 new jobs in the local Heathrow area, plus a further 20,000+ across London and another 50,000+ across the UK.

    At least £100bn of UK economic benefits, better than any other airport expansion option.

    40 new direct, daily routes to fast growing economies such as San José, Wuhan and Kolkata.

    Doubling cargo capacity to improve UK export competitiveness. 65% of the UKs £400bn freight exports already travel via Heathrow.

    New rail access to Wales and the West through the Western mainline, the South and South West through Southern Rail Access, and the North through HS2. Total rail capacity will treble from 5,000 to 15,000 seats per hour.

    A Taskforce for Regional Connectivity will be established to develop proposals for how regional air links to Heathrow can be improved. Additional capacity will provide space for flights to cities such as Inverness, Liverpool and Newquay.

    Investment in airport infrastructure will create jobs across the UK while a new runway is being built
