  1. No, don't appoint Emirsyah Satar, he was the one who over expanded GA and is taking toll on GA.

Good that CM is leaving, we can close down MH asap. I have no sympathy for this pathetic airline. Save my pension fund money and tax.

If can be, please close tomorrow. I don't give two hoots about the staff livelihood too. We have seen hundred and one MH episodes of drama for past 20 decades!!

    AMEN!!!!!

Just put this miserable dog out of its misery, PUT IT DOWN!!!

  2.

Their website interface and user-friendliness must be improved at the same time too. Everytime I tried clicking on most of North Asia's airlines websites, it feels 'heavy' (or slow response). Or is it just me?

You are right! their websites are horrendous, but thats an easy fix once they get around to it i think

  3. CZ has always been the Chinese airline that served KUL the best... Right from when CAAC moved their airline operations into these separate entities

These Chinese Carriers are going to be the Gulf carriers of the Pacific SQ and CX should be worried, once these guys get their act together and start offering better service they are going to be serious contenders to North America possibly even Europe ( though thats back tracking some). They have already started to get in gear with hard product, food and service are all that remain....

  4. MH19 today (Oct 4th) had just been cancelled..

initially delayed from 11:45 to 13:00 due to bad fog at Schiphol (that didn't go away until way past noon),afterward delayed to 18:00 and subsequently cancelled due to technical problem

I would have to say, this is really not helping the image of MAB. Less than a week ago it was delayed for 7 hours. lt seems that the positive things we hear from the new management about a new transformed airline doesn't even translate to real world performance.

If things keep on happening this way I'll probably jump over to SkyTeam with KLM and Garuda

Jump! indeed why reward failure with your business, you are right!

  5. I Still think this is a huge waste of money! It is conceded that Kangaroo route is dead, so now the solution is North South?? Please... What crap, if people want to fly a 3rd rate airline between Australia and China there is plenty of choice between the Chinese carriers, Garuda and Thai the latter of which i think is leagues ahead of MAS (MAB whatever lipstick on a pig.. still a pig)

Where does MAS fit into the market? The simple answer is that is doesn't! its not necessary and serves no purpose! If there is a need for such a service let private industry go about abating the demand rather than dumping 6 Billion (what at the point the country really really doenst have) into this fools endeavor!

  6. On an optimistic perspective, maybe CM-The Terminator can charm his way round the cocktail of 'interested parties' ? Then with newMAS emerging strong on back of its property portfolio ? And flight operations with all the associated headaches being relegated to non-core business status ?! :)

    1MDB Airlines :-/

  7. When I first saw this story my first instict was bloody hell no

But on reading the article it does make a modicum of sense common sourcing and maitiance could result in some decent cost saving. It's not a bad idea (spending 6 bill on MAS however still is)

  8. Finally they took in some common sense to consolidate all business operations at one place except FY.

Perhaps MH's OW membership will be 'suspended' until further notice. Like what have happened to Mexicana (collapsed but was active in OW website for another one more year before they officially took it off).

Suspension. Is ofcourse possible, but I really don't see this happening, it would cause such massive head aches as I imagine it would affect any reservation with a codeshare flight which would this need to be rebooked. On the frequent flyers side people would not be able to redeem or earn miles.

So MH remains the airline's code, eventhough the name is changing - https://twitter.com/fhavg/status/605273689676873729

    This is not surprising.

    The 777 & A330 J will be refurbished & new IFE to be introduced - https://twitter.com/FHavg/status/605276963754762240

They really can't do this soon enough.

  9. Actually I would venture a lot of taxpayers money have been redeemed by the taxpayers themselves through fuel & food subsidies etc etc.

As for MH - sure you can close it down & let foreigners come in to take the slack, but the moment they found the market to be unprofitable they'll leave & you'll end up without any connections whatsoever.

im not sure i understand your first point.

However i disagree totally with your second thats not how markets work. If companies came in and couldnt make a profit it would mean there is no demand for the product they were providing or prices would rise to a equilibrium where both companies profited and consumers could afford the product/ service. Also with MAS cutting its route network what connectivity does the new co actually provide? I cant think of a major route left where they will be the only service provider. So for RM 6 billion we dont get jack really.

If there was a demand for connectivity between KUL and elsewhere private enterprise could start to meet that demand, the government doesnt need to operate and airline its not a public service except to very remote areas which could never sustain a commercial flight. There is a public good in that respect.

With the government interfering and keeping MAS going tax payers are not only subsidizing failure but they are distorting the market and Malaysian tax payers are essentially subsidizing, singaporeans, brits etc to fly around the world below cost at artificially low prices.

In-addition this market manipulation inhibits other competitors from either starting or increasing KUL service as the yields are artificially depressed.

  10.

im stating retrospectively..it shouldnt have happened..even the current new co is still subsidized with RM 6 billion tax payers money so its too late for you to make that statement

I see you mean its a shame the company was run into the ground. If it were up to me there would be no newco at all its a waste of money.

  11. Once upon a time,

    - MH tech crews were sought after, they were spanned from KE, CA to EK.

    - MH cabin crews were sought after, to set cabin service standard e.g EK.

    - MH was the largest users of DXB (before EK)

    - MH beaten BA on kangaroo route

    - MH fleet was among the youngest in the world

    For over 20 years;

    - many decision was made not for commercial objective but other agenda

    - many promotion was made not for what you know but who you know

    - unit labour cost was half of SQ, more people was justified

    - management was not only complacent but arrogant

    - ignorance of competitors products and offering

    - business model remain unchanged

    - Before AK, profit from domestic sectors was subsidizing loss making international routes.

MH is a GLC, a product of gomen policy. MH failed repeatedly because it was competing in the open market.

Hope the new company is totally new without a single trace of MH's DNA.

Well said couldn't agree more. Only thing better would be if the government completely stopped meddling in aviation!

  12. While Thai Lion is an LCC, Malindo Air does not claim to be one. They market themselves as a "hybrid", whatever that means....

indeed! they fly from KLIA 2 so closer to LCC I would think. That said really do like what they have to offer. It probably unsustainable what with luggage and all included in the very reasonable fares, will enjoy it while it lasts :-)

  14.

    ie. Malindo's config.

Nobody seems to comment anything with Malindo. Their seat are good especially people flying them to India.

I was very impressed with the onboard config on malindo when I flew them to Singapore, kinda embarrassing for MAS the full service airline to be bested by an LCC

  15. The unions should be happy that any of their members get to keep their jobs. The airline should have failed instead if being reduced yet again.

One can only hope that CM actually can do something and give the poor malaysia tax payer some return on their "donation"... Certainly wouldn't call it an investment.
