  1. There is just no ample space left at T2(I've interned there a couple months and i've seen the AK dispatchers complaining about the potential hazards with space constraint issues on the A320 sharklets that are parked side by side each other) and complaining about sharing parking bays with Awan Inspirasi&Weststar helicopters during peak hours that it affects their on time departure and arrivals.

Unless MAHB could woo Sabah Air, Layang-Layang, Logistic Air and the Police air base hangars out and compensate them then it should not be a problem or relocating a school that is on the opposite side, then this expansion on T2 is possible. On another note the road to Tanjung Aru needs a revamp as the place is always jammed during peak hours and beach goers now already annoyed by the increase traffic in T2 plus constant development in the area is already worrying the locals.

Would TF willing to spill a dime to MAHB to compensate and woo them away to allow T2 to be expand, again by MAHB?

  2. When check in at SQ counter in KUL, let them know about your routing and show them your reservation ticket. Since you are travelling on LH, you can check in your flight all the way to TLS and the boarding pass can be printed out until on last sector as SQ and LH are on the same alliance. Your LH sectors will be printed on SQ boarding pass but dont worry, it is still acceptable, just make sure the flight number is correct. You cannot choose the seat on LH sectors flight as the seat was controlled by LH and you can only change the seat later on at LH transfer desk at SIN and they will printed you the new boarding pass.

Your check in luggage also can be tagged until TLS but bear in mind to show your luggage tag receipt at LH transfer counter or at departure gate so LH could update your bag into their system.

The same process applied for your return flight. Check in bag can be tagged until KUL but when arriving at SIN you have to check in at MH transfer desk for the boarding pass. Again, give the luggage tag receipt to MH update into their system.

  3. But if you have "about 75 ..." being deported in one go, how many would be required for the escort service ?

I did see once about that number to be deported. All of them were handcuffed together with numbers of immigration officers at one end until they were aboard the aircraft.

But most cases deported pax in bulk are PATI and they quite behaved. Unless if the pax is a criminal then extra stringent procedure and enforcement might be needed.

  4. Geesh, how was atmosphere on flight itself ?

Many years ago at LHR, I witnessed a chap being escorted by a few, well, rather sturdy looking uniformed personnel, presumably to his designated flight. Judging by the rather subdued state of said chap, the rather disorganized state of his clothing and the smug tones emancipated from said uniformed personnel, I couldn't help but imagine that he was at that point in time being forcibly deported from the UK

Always wondered if there are any special procedures/precautions to be observed when there are such 'criminals' on board ?

Normally deported pax will be seated at the last row and they will always be escorted by the enforcement agency in and out from the aircraft.

  6. Note: I won't give out specifics but all these happened at a location around 185 miles south of KUL, at the lounge of an airline that is a member of Star Alliance. It's home base is also there.

As a previous ground staff for that airlines down south in KUL I have to agree and confirmed this situation and it had happen to me quite number of times.

One of my unique experience is dealing with this one exec from famous bank, claimed he is a gold member even in the system cleared stated he is just basic/blue membership even showed his 'gold' coloured (obviously!) credit card with the airlines FFP logo on it (a collaboration perhaps), make a noise for about 20 minutes about this because he doesnt want to paid excessive baggage charge. Guess which country he's from (hint: the same which this MH staff dealing with).

Anyway, some of South Asia and Middle East pax tend to become pushy and made a lots of noise at the checking counter, at the gate and while boarding especially when their demand was not fulfilled even most of it was their fault at first. With their culture to talk out loud, it does test our communications skill and push our patience to the limit.

If I count correctly this move really put MH A380 to maximum utilisation without a frame to spare if one goes to tech.

  8. Would it work if MH just shut down their customer handling services, transfer all of their staff to KLAS and outsourced them back like SQ did with SATS at Changi? At least it won't be problematic to re-train the staff like if they were transfer to civil services. MH could shrink down their headcount and focus totally on their main business as airlines, cargo and MRO.

  9. What we all truly want to know is - what is the breakdown of that 20K?

just local stations? plus abroad? which divisions has the highest number?

At least they are not selling Mas Engineering. IIRC MRO is one of the few depts that is raking in income.

Probably their ground handling services. Perhaps MH should just outsource their ground operations to KLAS instead like SQ using SATS at Changi.

  10. Staff that travel on subload ticket are not entitled to use the facilities given to the commercial ticket passenger eg lounge access even if the staff taking the business class. Staff on subload ticket also are not given the confirmed seat during booking and subjected to be offloaded from the flight if the flight is full or overbooked..
