  1. Difficult for courts to decide this.

Two consenting adults meet on the plane. They hook up, he thought he had a fling. But she didn't think so. Different countries have different ways of looking at this. France... remember Dominic Strauss Kahn. Big issue in the NY case, but his other case in France, the girl didn't get enough support... point is that it is already hard for her to prove, it becomes quite subjective.

But MAS should really discipline someone who was fooling around while on duty, even if the girl fully consented.

  2.

I'm not sure if the A380 is working well for SQ too... Their profit is under immense pressure and future is looking very bleak. They are also about to pull out all A380 service to/from Australia. By the end of this year, there will only be 1 daily SQ A380 service to Autralia. The A380 has proved it is too big for all 4x daily LHR flights to be operated solely using A380. CX on the other hand, is still doing fine with its large 77W fleet.

Noticed on my last SQ flight last week that ZRH is now back to A380 with economy class on upper deck. Maybe they could not fill up the business seats?

  3. Yeah they flew the same route as MH right? If they are putting people's life at risk, they do not deserve any support either. Doesn't matter if they are SQ or not. One lesson is a complete waste of lives, we don't need another.

Oh well looks like a stop at the UAE might be worth it after all.

Except that emirates also had multiple flights per day over Ukraine in the 7 days preceding the shooting.

In any case, given that there were 800 flights over Ukraine in that week by many airlines, European, Asian, premium, budget, surely airlines should not be allowed to make this decision. Air traffic control should do a better job of controlling.

  4.

Take announcements from Ukranian, Russian or the separatists with a barrel of salt.

Anyways look at the number of airlines plying the exact same route in the week before the accident - MAS is in good company with KLM, Emirates & Etihad among others. It just sickens me to see people keep harping about this when they had the benefit of hindsight!

Clearly, you can't leave it to airlines to decide such things who inevitably will take the shortest route. Eurocontrol and whoever is in charge should play a stronger role.

  5. At klia2, pax have to pass thru shopping mall before checkin counters and after customs is believed to be the first in the world. Unless pax allowed extra time, few pax would shop there. Given distance from city and expensive car park, doubt city folks will shop there either. With expensive rent, not sure most of the shops could survive. However, if this shopping mall is a success will be the pioneer in the industry.

In ZRH, if you take a train to he airport, or park in 2 of the 3 main carparks, you also have to walk through a shopping mall before check-in, and again after security. But of course , Swiss shopping malls are never as big as Asian ones.

  6.

Plus, the longer walk would solidifies KLIA's position as the airport which requires passengers to walk the furthest in the world.

actually if you read carefully, the WSJ report is about the distance including bus, train, other transport, and not about walking distance only. That's why you see Zurich high on the list (because there is a train between check in and the gate) even though the walking distance is much shorter compared to changi ( no train).

No airside access at all. ERL transfer cost is RM 2.

Some people will bitch and say that both SIN airside and landside transfers are free. But their airport charges are also much higher. So, you have paid for it whether you use it or not.

As a foreigner transiting through, I would hate having to change money only to get RM2. Hope they can simply swipe their credit card. Otherwise, the process of selling the ticket (producing the paper, having extra machines, maintaining the machines) is more expensive than RM2 per passenger.

Just took a drive out there after dinner.... obviously couldn't go inside - but my first observations.. it looks pretty good (when empty) :)

Also - you heard it here first: The drop off and pick up areas for passenger using private cars are undersized. Doesn't look like it's either long or wide enough.... :p

They should provide specific space along the highway to KLIA1 & 2 for "SMS waiting area". Certainly plenty of space for that as you curve around the car parks before the KLIA1 arrival area for cars to park and wait for the text message from arrival passengers saying they are ready to be picked up. Knowing Malaysia, it is also the perfect opportunity to open a teh tarik stall. I notice that almost all US airport I fly though these days have these specific SMS waiting zones.

  7.

I don't know which Chinese are you referring to, but I don't think the Chinese Victims' family are not impressed about the SAR effort. Rather I think they are pretty pissed off about the way the Malaysian authorities had handled the case. If seems they have wasted a lot of time dicking around. They are not even releasing the information until they have been pushed upon. I wouldn't worry about those keyboard warriors who are pissed off, because frankly they were not the ones who have lost a family in this incident. Most western media have only commented the emotional roller coaster ride of the Chinese family members.

I am not siding anyone, but the way the Malaysian government have handled the case is not impressive. Here are some of the comments about Malaysian government:

    http://www.theage.com.au/world/missing-malaysia-airlines-plane-probe-marked-by-confusion-misinformation-20140312-hvhqv.html

    http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-03-11/malaysia-failing-to-manage-plane-crisis-exposes-leadership-limit.html

"Wayang kulit" can be played as long as they can be selective on what they wish to share and what they don't. The Australian government has requested cargo manifest from the Malaysian authority and it seems they were somewhat reluctant on that front. One only have to look up the keyword "submarine".

I don't wish to go on discussing about this issue, but if one thinks the Malaysian authority has done a good job internationally, they need to wake up to the reality of what others really think and try the silly tactic of bullying or threatening people and see how well that is going to go down on the international image of Malaysia.

Ok, contradictory statement from you. Did western media bash them or did they only comment on the emotional roller coaster ride?

I agree Malaysian govt.'s handling is not impressive. If you read western media though, you will see that most are more balanced and say that in this unprecedented situation, no one can expect a perfect response from any county. You posted links to news which came from the first few days when confusion ruled. After 2 weeks now, most can see that this situation, where a plane went missing without a trace, has never happened before.

With all due respect to the families who have lost their loved ones, I still think they should be mindful about the thousands of people who are putting their lives at risk in the SAR operation when they bash.

    Submarine? I don't understand.

Wayang Kulit - again, I don't see how they can now hide anything with so many countries involved.

  8. The Chinese are not the only ones who bashed the Malaysian govt. the BBC, CNN, ABC and even the Hong Kong and Singaporean media have had their good amount of bashing for the lack of action and waste of time on the part of Malaysian govt.

I think the one who is dickless are the ones who had not acted and be opened about the information quick enough. Less see if they have the balls to disclose what actually happened and may be just another "wayang kulit" puppet show again.

I've been reading / watching CNN and BBC from day 1 . They did very little bashing themselves, but did report of others' bashing. If you read the comments section in the reports of the bashing these days, you will see that people worldwide are getting really pissed off about the Chinese right now - only bashing but totally ungrateful that many countries are putting many many more people at risk in the SAR operation. The Chinese are not putting themselves in good light.

And how would it be possible to have a wayang kulit with so many countries and agencies involved?

  9. We do not have independent investigative authorities like the AAIB, ATSB, BEA or NTSB. Even our DCA is prone to errors and the head of the DCA looked like a joke at the PCs.

Whatever it is, Malaysia's PM and his people did not inspire confidence. And the so called "information" that they are disclosing is incomplete, contradictory, untimely, and inconclusive. In other words, there is not much transparency. So the relatives of the victims are quite justified in accusing the authorities of lack of transparency and covering up the incident...

I think AF447 is a little different - it was transmitting ACARS data as it went down. So it was easier for the French PM to make that call.

I never defend Najib, but in this case, the info was given to him by AAIB. If AAIB gave the info to Cameron, what would he do?

The info is incomplete because it is in the hands of Inmarsat and AAIB ( who has put their reputation at stake), not sure where it is contradictory, how is it untimely ( too early? But so far they have been accused of being too slow in giving info. Or are they too late? But Inmarsat themselves figured this out just now) and inconclusive - can there be any other conclusion? The plane was out of fuel miles away from any airport in the worst sea condition imaginable.

  10. Malaysian govt. is used to spin stories for Malaysian public and controlled mainstream media. Unfortunately, they are trying to do the same for this but the international (and free) media are more experienced and are looking for facts and evidence. They are casting a lot of doubt on the PM's statement.

I think PM is seriously premature in announcing the loss of the flight without a shred of physical evidence. Bad call.

If I recall correctly, the French PM made a similar announcement for AF447. Only one day after the disappearance. Simple - the plane did't land anywhere , so it must be in the water. It avoided leaving the family in limbo for a few days - it was a good call then, and giving the family some sort of closure is a good call.

  11. Smoking in MH cockpit is quite common.

Inviting blonde girls to the cockpit is also not unusual - one of my colleagues once told me that she got invited up to the cockpit a few times already - I did not believe her with all the security and all that, but once I traveled with her and then it happened, the captain spoke to her while in the pax lounge and then a steward came to fetch her before pushback... It was on one of the major European carriers...

  12. China government expressed disappointment on how Malaysia government is handling MH370 incident:

http://www.themalaysianinsider.com/bahasa/article/kerajaan-china-kecewa-cara-pengendalian-kehilangan-mh370. Sorry in Malay Language only.

Not sure what they want to know when there is no info available. Gigantic search and rescue operation and no one found anything yet, so what do they want? Even the air France a330 was found only after 5 days.

Btw, it is not unusual at all to see Asians holding European passport. Malaysia may be proud of its multi racial heritage a long time ago, but these days malaysias racial politics is shameful compared to many European countries which grant full citizenship rights to whatever colour.
