  1. Strike it where it hurts. Writing to MAHB or KLIAB will NOT be effective, knowing how these semi-govt mentality people work.

Honestly, you should aim nothing short of a published editorial in NST or The Star. There a few recent examples already, that when the issues brought up on newspaper, only then there were noises in the govt. (eg: Bukit Cerakah, Tioman Marina project, APs)

Also, I would suggest a collaboration with Jeff Ooi (jeffooi.com) who runs the most popular political blog in Malaysia.

Glad to know that there're people that agrees with what I feel. I think collaborating with Jeff Ooi would be a good idea as well.

  2. Official letter to MAHB would be pointless if it's fallen over "blind" eyes of the people who is receiving the letter and reading it. Publishing it in the print media would generate collective public attention and opinion thus, making it more effective.

Hopefully that would catch the PM's attention (wishful thinking) as well.

  3. Wow, is this how Sakamoto Kyu died?

Just a side note, the song known in the west as "sukiyaki" does not have similar title as the original song in Japanese which is entitled "Ue wo muite arukou" (let's look up and walk).  This song was a hit in the 60s when the stock market crashed in Japan.  The song encouraged Japanese to put the past behind and look forward to a new start.  Perhaps we need one song as such for post Asian Economic Crisis too tongue.gif

"Sukiyaki" is a famous Japanese dish, the Americans took this as the name of the song when it is "translated" into English.

Didn't know that, Sukiyaki isn't the original title of the song. So now my curiosity has been satisfied as to why, would someone name the song based on the name of a dish.

    Thanks for letting us know.

    Agreed.

  5. I agree with Sandeep on the PER frequencies. Although when I was living in PER, I used to fly SQ mostly, I regret that I didnt use MH as much as I did SQ coz they (SQ) were so uncomfortable and the service was not impressive at all. But I recall my friends who travelled on MH and they were always complaining of the full flight or over booked flight both KUL-PER and PER-KUL sectors.

I think they should reinstate the night flights into PER but perhaps the reason they have not is because they have increased capacity seasonally to the B744 from the usual B772. But MH is popular in PER too !!! As for ADL, they are doing really well too in terms of loads as my juniors tell me that ADL is similar to PER. With the new terminal almost ready, maybe they will increase it !!! Same case with MAN, LAX and EWR;  they should increase it to daily before commencing services into other points in the UK and US.

    Your juniors ?

Yup, I can tell you that it is similar situation to PER. I have flown KUL - PER - KUL before a few years back and there were just 3 empty seats available on Economy. For my recent flt back to ADL 3 weeks ago, I was flying GCC and there wasn't even a single empty seat on GCC.

  6. How about Moscow?  Does Aeroflot fly to KUL still?

    4839[/snapback]

    Don't think they do anymore.

On another note, they should start increasing their frequency to ADL, cause it seems to be fully booked quite a fair bit of times. Starting end of Nov, SQ will increase their frequency from 4 to 5x weekly. That's when the new terminal in ADL commences commercial operations.

  7. Wow, from the shots TK took, the haze situation does looks bad. Esp the 3rd shot.

As for us here in ADL, we've been pretty cold for the past couple of days. We had hail yesterday around 2pm when I was walking to one of the lecture theatres for my CFT lecture. Sunshine today, but apparently it'll rain again in the evening. Sigh...
