  1. Oh the 28-105mm you borrow from Sneeze, i see. Get at least 200mm for spotting aircraft. Cheers.

Guys, please emotion Derek to save for goodies, but please help not to poison him, thanks, :clapping: :clapping:

    Great start, Derek. :good:

You might want to consider these lenses. 661.gif

    > Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS - review HERE

    > Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 USM IS - review HERE - I have this one and am very happy with it. :D

My opinion to Derek is.....always consider an EF rather than a EF-S. Cause no one know when you will change to a full frame. And I think either 70-300 (w/o IS) or 75-300 is nice, any objection ?

Consider the 55-250mm IS. That's the lens I have in mind for spotting. Plus it's cheap, I think way cheaper than the 70-300mm.

70-300 is sharp enough somehow regarding $$$

P.S. Can admin merge this topic to the VHHH spotting one?

  2. Afternoon arrivals no good for terminal spotting, esp when they use 25 (i think its 25), all backlit. Morning would be fantastic though.

When we departed, I counted no less than 5 silver bullets, 1 EK cargo, 1 Asiana cargo on the cargo ramp.. DROOL.

Rwy 25 spotting from terminal departs on which month you are in. Mid of summer the sunset will go a bit northwest but near to autumn, the sunset goes a bit southwest, so it really depends.

HKG's cargo ramp always parks will lots of freighters, I don't know why, by the way. :drinks:

  3. btw: on 04jul08 one Oasis has been moved from the compass-bay to the maintenance area - two others still there...will it be leased-out or sold ? What happened to the Ocean 747 ?

Oasis' license has already terminated by Civil Aviation Dept. (Hong Kong) last month during my stay in Malaysia.

Sold or lease, I am not sure, but obviously, it is hard to see the sixth HK based commercial Jet Airline.

    Ocean? Where you see them?

  4. Nice shots there Sneeze. I recognized that place already, 映灣園.Opposite is the airport already. Haha. Keep the good shots coming :drinks:

Haha, that really a very good place. Get your camera places on the window "stand" and you will get many A.net style photos.

Trust me, try next time coming in HKG.

  5. Awaken by my friend and can't sleep at the moment, so edited one photo again.

9V-SWP, the so far latest SIA B77W in my collection. Before I met this bird, in my mind -SWI should be the newest one, sigh, long haven't been to the airport. :pardon:

    Wish you guys enjoy.

  6. After nearly a month's rainy day, I finally can go heading to HKIA after knocking down my lazy (no wonder, I am Piggy Sneeze, sleep is always first priority :pardon: )

I don't know what have happened to my lens/ camera or even myself, I can't get nice focus on aircrafts with size about B737/A320. Anyway, at the moment I would like to make this topic live again, with the sharing of the below lovely freighter.
