  1. I was at ADL in 2014. After clearing immigration, we were routed through inside duty free shop before finally reaching the gate areas.

ADL is a nice airport, but it is not so good for international flights. On arrival, you would be forced to walk close to 100 metres along enclosed corridor (it has some nice Australian landscapes) to get to the immigration/custom (don't quite remember which). It used to be very straightforward.

  2. Essentially this means there is no demand for First.

They should have known this already when F didn't sell in the A380s, so why did they put it in the A350s?

Love the airline to bits but the continuous disappointment is just a bit too much...

Just remember, it was under previous government that they decided on having a First Class on A350 primarily to cater for government officials. I wonder if this re-branding has to do with the changes of PH government travel policy.

  3.

I don't think this is a fair representation of Lion Air's record. Prior to this, their last fatal accident was in 2004. And all of their incidents are fairly common occurrence among airlines all over the world, including here in Malaysia.

I think it's more to do with near misses and poor management.

"However, it has struggled with issues of safety and poor management and was banned, along with other Indonesian airlines, from flying into European airspace until 2016.
Its first deadly accident in 2004 saw 26 people killed and more than 100 injured when a Lion Air plane skidded at an airport in the central Java city of Solo, with the airline blaming bad weather and strong tailwinds.
In 2013, a rookie pilot at the controls of a Lion Air plane undershot the runway and landed in the sea off Bali, splitting the plane in two and forcing passengers to swim to safety. Remarkably no one was killed in the accident.
Three years later, two Lion Air passenger planes clipped wings as they were about to take off from Jakarta’s main Soekarno-Hatta airport."

  4. My son took the flight on the 21 May 2018. Only served dinner after takeoff. After that nothing.

He was totally shocked with the meals being cut and also the cabin crew was absent throughout the duration of he flight. He had to call them for a drink. Service was just bad.

No problems with the morning flight though.

Is it because it was a night flight? On my recent night flight, crew retreated to the galley and only walked once awhile so that they did not to disrupt passengers. Even QF has this policy that they would make fewer announcement and cabin crew would not walk around much to allow pax to rest.

  5. I noticed from the couple of flights I took from KUL to Kuching this past two weeks, the number of cabin crew for the 737 flights have increased from the usual 4 to 5. I also noted that one of the crew must be new, as our kakak in the red kebaya was giving some helpful tips to one of the crew in serving passengers. Perhaps new crew in training? or improving service? If the latter, this is a good move.

Also noticed that the food has improved as well. Way to go, MH.

On my last flight KUL-ADL,they served rice with chicken kurma and it was really good. Definitely one of the best meals I ever had on MH.

  6.

Also the "place your right hand above your heart, smile, bow slightly and utter a greeting" is not organic to me. To recap, the gesture was originally introduced in the 1990's by former Tourism Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Kadir Sheikh Fadzir and subsequent Ministers had to revive it as it was new and has never been part of our culture.I mean how often do you see people on the street giving the gesture?

I find it so odd to introduce this welcoming gesture.

  7. I am just saying the fact that in this case it was not operating with a near full capacity. Likewise MH148 from MEL to KUL was diverted to Alice Springs to pick up some passengers on its way back to KUL - which would mean it stil had seats for quite a number of passengers. When did I say all other airlines have better passenger load? But however based on my personal travels with SIA flights to and from MEL, its 4 daily flights usually have very good high loads and at times its not even easy to get a seat at short notice. And in fact last March 2017, I travelled on MH 148 from MEL to KUL, I was very surprised that it was only at most 45% filled but that gives all passengers good rooms to stretched and have a extra seats to themselves.

To be honest, that's a good reason for me to book with them. An empty row/seat next to me. It's beyond my control to know if they make money or not.

I can't tell much about flights from MEL or SYD. But from ADL, outbound flights normally had low load. KUL-ADL however were usually fully booked (at least in Y).

  8. Sheesh, they really need to spell check their captions!

And I thought that it was only the IFE screen instructions that had errors....

I noticed MH's announcements on Facebook or Twitter have many grammatical errors and some of them did not make any sense. It seems like they don't proofread before releasing it to public anymore.

  9.

    Agreed.

I have never met any of you in this forum (except Sofian, he is a friend of mine). But from the opinions and the thoughts from majority of us here, I can tell if you are a frequent traveler, airliner, travel agencies, purely interest in airlines with or without background, or simply say it out loud without thinking the consequences (read: keyboard warrior) and many more.

Takkan nak suruh Captain Izham datang kat you say I am sorry and upgrade you to 1st Class for your next many2 zillions flight on MH? Idts.

Level of maturity is also plays a major part in this forum.

Hope the moderator will do something. From my point of view as an airliner, his opinion is not helping at all. Having a background as a law practitioner does not mean you are all right to the extent bashing other people personal.

I am sorry. It was too childish.

Lets come back to the topic. To certain extent, "komen yang murni2" is still applicable in our society.

Thank you. He's being an insufferable prick in other threads too.

His comments to the spotters in Anjung Tinjau subforum are unacceptable.

  10.

they didnt say those seats were not available as well when we booked the ticket somemore confirmed the booking, so your presumption versus my confirmed booking which one do you think should take precedent??

sure, we never changed the topic and matters being discussed here are actually related to the proving flight, it's good to share our experience though so that people are aware and in case those F seats "magically" appear to be available again the public are aware of the risk..just saying

We spent the last two pages talking about your problem. I don't care to be honest. Just move on.
