  1. Malaysia Airlines pursues expansion in Indonesia with four new secondary destinations

New Indonesian destinations for Malaysia Airlines are Kertajati, Padang, Solo & Pekanbaru.

So MH is returning to Padang? They used to fly there, during the last days of the old airport and the early days of the new one. Then, as usual, they give it away to low-cost competitors.

  2. Sure, let's make it equal then. Who's going to feel the burn of RM150 more? Your average middle income once-a-year traveller who books the cheapest possible ticket to some nearby destination, or a business traveller on a long-haul F ticket that costs as much as a car (who probably isn't paying a dime out-of-pocket)?

No, not that I think the tax should be equal between the classes. Just don't like the "What is RM 150 to them?" part.

Obviously far more. You think you pay a lot in taxes? Surely people of other nationalities would laugh at your claim. All these new taxes are done to cover the idiocy of the current government in removing GST, which is a far more equitable.

Agree on the GST part. They should've keep it. The next time they reintroduce the GST, there will be another change in government. But even without GST, we are already paying a lot in taxes, just that it was done so subtly that we don't even realize it.

  3.

Yes, but that is for First and Business class passengers. What is RM 150 to them?

I found this type of thinking very disturbing. We are still not a socialist country, despite attempts by lots of politicians.

Please note that AirAsia is a point to point airline and we operate out/from a different airport which is KLIA2.

The taxiway connecting KLIA2 to 32L should be closed and removed, so KLIA2 can be totally different airport.

  4. Maybe it is KJT - Kertajati International Airport the new airport built to replace Bandung's current Husein Sastranegara International Airport which is said to only handle domestic flights in the near future. Currently it's a huge white elephant with hardly any flights, so the talk is that all international flight may soon be forced to transfer there from BDO. With bad land connection, I would just fly to Jakarta and take a bus or train to Bandung as Damri already has transfers from CGK and the railway company is talking of starting some of the regular Argo Parahyangan trains from CGK to Bandung.

Been flying to BDO a few times, heard about "a new airport for Bandung" but never see anything within logical distance to the city. So where is this KJT?

  5. I noticed a lot of passengers to DPS from KUL are from Indian subcontinent flights, arriving around sunrise. The flights from DPS arrive KUL around 3 - 4 pm; most flights to Indian subcontinent are around sunset.

OD will get a lot of traffic if it can get something similar to MH850/851 timing.

DPS being in the same time zone as KUL would mean most passengers ex KUL prefer to arrive around hotel check-in time (1 to 3 pm) and depart a couple of hours after hotel check-out time (2 to 4 pm).

I paid premium to fly on these timings during the last trip.

    Good idea too.

  6. With a lot of flights to/from DPS, I hope OD can spread out the KUL-DPS vv sectors evenly throughout the day and not all 4 or 5 flights arriving in/departing from DPS at around the same time. During my last trip, although OD was my first choice of carrier, the plan had to be abandoned as MH has better arrival and departure time ex DPS.

OD has morning flights ex KUL to DPS with flights returning to KUL around noon. There are also flights ex KUL in the late afternoon with aircraft continuing to Australia. The Australian flights will reach DPS around noon as well, unfortunately making ex DPS flights to KUL concentrated in the midday.

  7. Is it going to be a raised platform? With shade? Multiple story? (so that those who need shade can be downstair and the kakis can be upstair) Located in a set up ala mini highway R&R for families? I just hope it is designed with plane spotters in mind technically, and not ended up being a bus stop or a "pondok durian" kinda structure.

The structure will need spotters input to be successful.

  8. At mab current service level, it couldn't increase ticket price or yield. Likely remain unprofitable until the whole bod and top management are replaced and adopted a new business model.

Just wondering what "new business model" is suitable for MAB? Any idea?
