  1. Isn't it easier for the controller to ask the passenger to keep manipulate the autopilot all the way to touch down? It is all about turning alt and hdg knobs. Can't say much with the flare part, but I think it is quite a easy situation to handle overall for a passenger.

Even tuning knobs need some knowledge. What numbers and which know is for what and when. Not so easy when the controller cant see whats happening in the cockpit.

  2. China Airlines should take the responsibility of the 30 injured on air turbulence

Flight CI687 of China Airline yesterday morning suffered from sunny-air-turbulence and made 26 passengers and 4 flight attendants injured as leaving for Bali, Indonesia.

China Airlines pointed that this flight took off from Taiwan Taoyuan international airport and met the sunny-air-turbulence at 11:25 a.m. over Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia. The plane had shaken up and down 200 feet for 10 seconds. Many seriously injured passengers did not tie well the seat belts

Chen Pong-yu (陳鵬宇), the spokesman of China Airlines said that, the airplane keep flying to Bali, Indonesia after the airplane commander checked everyone’s situation.

Before they met the sunny-air- turbulence, the radar had detected another air turbulence. So, the airplane commander asked the passengers to return to seats with belts. But it was too late to avoid the undetected sunny-air- turbulence.

Whats sunny air turbulence? Anyway I very much doubt that this region has clear air turb. Unless they wack into a big CB.

Didnt know that weather radar can detect clear air turbulence if it thats what sunny air turbulence mean.

  3. I'm due to fly UA for 3 hours flight, should I bring water with me? or that still "complimentary" ?

UA will realize that this is just a dumb move where pax can choose other US carriers for long haul, or even better SQ :drinks: I would expect this kind of news from AA, oh well...

Buy water? cant even carry water onboard due LAG.....Pax are really being squeezed. Sad Sad. :drinks:

  4. " DONT RIDE THE BRAKES..IDLE POWER AND THEN BRAKE! " The very first thing my instructor told me during my very first flight in training..

In flight school, some single eng props, minimum is 800rpm.....can't go idle. :drinks: actually usage of reversers does little to reduce landing distance, however with reversers it does help in reducing brakes workload. :pardon:
