  1. Wait and see - I am not hopeful that they can sell the A380s. There is simply no demand for these at the moment unless airlines like EK and/or SQ needs some planes urgently. I think that they will be stuck with the A380s unless they offer them at RM 1.

Even then, they can simply call up Airbus and buy the Skymark frames or Amedeo to lease them....

Selling MH at RM 1 is possible but selling A380 at RM 1 is not logic. People who bought over MH would have to bear the debt, just like TF bought AK at RM 1.

  2. Being a Malaysia Airlines frequent flyer myself, I still have that mixed feelings upon boarding their planes.... Regardless the aircraft type. This happened since 17th July 2014. That uneasy feelings continued to haunt me since that particular date.

Are you being afraid because of MH's sheer bad luck or you were just afraid of flying over the route to Europe?

I on the other hand have had tears burst from my eyes while waiting for the flight back to KUL at CDG and remembering MH 17 innocent victims. I looked around and noticed all the passengers waiting for the flight, some were business travellers while some were leisure travellers. Some were excited and having chats over the trip while some were impassive and focusing on the the books, tablets, and music with headphones over their heads. I bet it was pretty much the same scene when MH 17 passengers were waiting to board the flight but instead of boarding to paradise, they were boarding to hell! I couldn't help with the sour feeling and let out my tears and prayed silently for the victims and for this flight.

  3. I trust it depends on the season. My flight to LHR on 30th April was quite full as I was doing an online check in and I couldn't book any 2 seats side by side on the upper deck of Economy Class. On the lower deck, there were some empty seats but none could fully utilise 3 or 4 seats to lie flat.

My MH 21 from CDG back to KUL on 15th May has had poor load factor. I managed to get upper deck and before we were airborne, a crew came to ask around if any passenger would like to occupy lower deck and she could reserve 4 seats for us to lie down. But the offer seemed receiving lukewarm from all the passengers at upper deck as many if not all, remained at upper deck.

  4. Agree - I think the A332 is not such a big difference. However, having the A321neo LR in the fleet will give D7 considerable flexibility.

I don't like them cancelling flights "for commercial reasons". This gives the airline a very negative image as it screws up passengers' travel bookings and schedules. It is not very pleasant to have to change your itinerary because D7 cancels your flight. Instead of cancelling, they can sub the A333 with the A321 when loads are not good.

D7 can configure the A321neo LR with about 190 seats in two classes. That will enable it to carry a little more than half the pax of an A333. Having such an aircraft will give them less headaches, if they cannot fill the seats on their services. If D7 cancels too many of its flights, they will then get a reputation of being an UNRELIABLE airline... a bit like what AK was in their early days (2002-2005).

I thought D7 flying only routes taking 5 hours and more? Would A321 able to cover that flying range?

  5. Definitely not on a 5 hours flight operated by 738. However, on domestic flights where meal service is provided, what you get depends on what time is your flight. You will still get the usual nasi lemak or fried noodles on flight departing between 6am to 8am+. But if your flight is departing at 9am or 10am or 3pm, or night flight at 9pm or later, all you will get is just a sandwich and probably a Tong Garden tidbit pack.

Not just domestic, but international short haul. Took the red eye to BKK and was given sandwich too.
