  1. You will be surprised to find how much is actually paid to vendors that delivered practical works in glc and gomen projects.

If government direct to vendors, that I don't dare to say. But for TM HSBB vendors that I know of are Huawei, ZTE, Alcatel and for fiber is as per standard of the existing contractors. Some of the fiber provider like Fiberail and Fibercomm are TM's subsidiary, too.

Anyway, we are way off topic in this thread! Haha!

  2. TM's Unifi fibre network, like most GLC projects, received billions of RM in grants from the Federal Government.

Even the introduction of Streamyx was subsidised. Yet TM's charges to its customers does not reflect the substatially lower set up costs of these networks.

For those interested in the background:

The project required 11.3 bil and only 2.4 bil was funded by govt, need to know this fact, too. And this amount of money was for HSBB start up, not to cover nationwide yet.

  3.

Completely agree.. wouldn't give CM that much credit. And let's not forget the RM6b that have been poured into this entity.. not many CEOs have RM6b at their disposal to turn around a company.. yet he has the cheek to complain about not having a level playing field!!

Also, take note that SQ and CX have recorded amazing profits despite having to bear fuel hedging costs.. which MAB being a new entity wouldn't have to carry.

Still better than previous leaders who were poured with huge amount of money and yet not able to turnaround the business right? He has had good portfolio and milestone making Aeir Lingus and Lufthansa profitable and his success making MH a profitable airline within a short time period was almost an impossible job too and a plus plus to his CV.

But again many GLCs are bound by political move. E.g.

BSN has the duty to open its banks every corner of the nation to serve the people regardless of profitability.

TM has the duty to bring fiber and infra to every corner of the nation to serve the people regardless of profitability.

MH has the duty to serve the diplomatic routes regardless of profitability, which is no longer applied in order to sustain the national carrier's business.

  4. It doesn't seem right to me. based on the screenshot of the whatsapp, the one who replying the message was the captain and only the captain could screenshot that screen but why this screenshot was posted on the Ravi's fb? More disturbingly, his private number +6016 870 6786 has just been shared to the entire world?! Crap....

  5. "As part of its business transformation to return to profitability in 2018, Malaysia Airlines will now refocus its network more heavily on Asia and use airline partnerships to serve many of its long-haul markets outside the region."

As in focusing on Asia routes by expanding with more frequencies or more Asian destinations?

  6. Optiontown D7 upgrade...beware!!! If you didn't initial purchase luggage...when you are upgraded...you would have to pay it at the counter during checkin...I was caught of guard once...

I think that would be if you were unsuccessful to get the premium class and yet they gave you the quiet zone seat.

  7. Whilst the drama in enraging, meanwhile, from the spies at the MH Rumour Department:

Kinda cruel on the weight criteria, like no chance at all for crew who were overweight? some might be overweight but may have excellent service experience, perhaps could give some times or exception to these people to lose their weight?

  8. MH is not exactly the only airline flying to Europe via Saudi Arabia-Egypt-Greece versus the more straight line routing.

At the peak of the latest Syrian crisis where a Russian military jet were shot down by the Turkish army on 24 November 2015 some other airlines flew to Europe using the same flight path as MH for quite sometimes. Eg:

    1. All westbound EY (Etihad Airways) flights between AUH and LHR took a very similar flight path to MH.

    2. EY18 LHR-AUH on 31 December 2015 also took a similar routing to MH.

    3. EK too has been taking some strange routings into Northern Europe of late.

Info provided by my spies based in the UAE.

I guess it depends on how each airlines determine the risk of flying over Syria and Turkey based on its progress.

With Saudi Arabia in the verge of a war with Iran fresh as we speak right now, I am not sure where MH will route its flight to Europe to avoid conflict zones.

Lightning may strike at the same place twice, for MH, it's a painful ordeal and so high precaution measure would be taken to ensure 100% safety.

  9.

Only MH takes the long way via Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Greece. Everyone else flies through Afghanistan & Russia - hence my question about whether there is a ban imposed on MH flying through Russian airspace.

Is there a bias on a certain airline to fly on certain countries' airspace? Not to mention that MH or Malaysia are foes of these 2 nations.

On FB, people complained like hell... sigh... But luggage can still be checked in and only arrived later... though I'm not sure if MH would arrange the courier service for the luggage in CDG and AMS, but even more complicated for those connecting passengers... very likely there will be mishap of the luggage.
