Is it because it was a night flight? On my recent night flight, crew retreated to the galley and only walked once awhile so that they did not to disrupt passengers. Even QF has this policy that they would make fewer announcement and cabin crew would not walk around much to allow pax to rest.
Some airlines will still do so... sneakily with cabin light dimmed to serve passengers who needed some snacks. I know QR did.
-
Spoke to the crew on my recent flight to DPS. On flights less than 2 hours 738 are manned by crew of 5, above 2 hours 4. My KCH KUL had 5 crew while the DPS had 4.
They do that simply because MH has the policy to serve meal for flight over an hour and with only 2 hours, they would need to ensure all passengers get to have their meal within short times and able to complete their meal and have the beverages served + coffee & tea time and clean up whole cabin before the flight landed.

I don't understand why comparing with the EU airlines while MH is in the position to compete with regional airlines such as SQ, TH, CX, etc.

Expand network, introduce 2 more aircraft types and stop using satellite terminal at kul.
Stop using satellite terminal? are you kidding me?
-
MI is not a Star Alliance member. You can check bags between SQ, MI, TR and TZ so it should not be any different to the passenger when connecting on one ticket.
MI is not but still under SQ's affiliate and hence Star Alliance members able to sell on behalf MI.
-
Unlike SQ or MI lies in Star Alliance network, Scoot doesn't and hence destination such as KCH or LGK transferred to Scoot from MI has given inconvenience for the passengers to transit in SIN.

Malaysia Airlines may fly again to US, France

thought AMS would be in the list.

Heard over the radio the reason for AK stopping KCH to SZX was due to the limited landing slots made available there. Don't know if this is true.
Frequency reduced to 3 times weekly from end of Mar onward. I think majorly is the bad timeslot. KCH's gate 5 is closed for tarmac renovation and I recall all gates would be fully parked with aircraft for next morning departure.

I am not sure what you guys think - but the report seems to indicate that it is Airasia who will be building the low cost terminal, not MAHB. Also note the budget of RM 200-300m - that probably means another cow shed like terminal, doesn't it?
Yes, I concur, too. It mentioned AK and SW Gov, not involving MAHB, too.

AirAsia mulls direct flights to Jakarta, Bangkok from Kuching
Interesting! Let's wait and see! -

Wings Air starting KCH 2X daily.

They flying to PEN from MED

Brilliant, while MAB/Maswing is slashing more flights in East Malaysia, AK seems to be making good business from evidence of their increasing frequencies in these sectors. And it is just a matter of time when their plan to build a new hub at KIA is realised. The Sarawak government is all for anything that could bring in good opportunities for the country's development. Next move should perhaps be KCH - BPN, KCH - BDJ and KCH - CGK/HLP.
I would presume more to China routes. Sarawak Govt has signed a huge MOU with Huawei for Digital Partnership.
-
I got to know the next new route they going to open is KCH - FOC route, target end of this year or early 2018.

Applause! Applause!

Why did they took out all their IFEs?
-
Blame DRW not able to entice more tourists and hence lead to termination of service? or blame MH for not able to attract more pax on the flight and hence lead to this aftermath?
-
Currently they are flying over Jordan, along Iraq international borders to Iran then turn right into Qatar for inbound trip, outbound straight into Iran skies and turns left to Europe. African routes take all the way along eastern African shoreline turns onto Oman then Qatar. Things will get very interesting if Jordan and Oman get pressured into the pissing game!
KSA is a crack pot to be honest! Pot calling kettle black!! DT is not helping the situation at all with his jelly fingers with Twitter! All this a week after his visit to KSA and Israel.
Update 7/6/2017:
•Jordan strips Al-Jazeera from license, closes offices, lowers diplomatic representation•Morocco cancels flights thru DohaGreat! Can't see how this peeing competition turns out! Who pees furthest!?! Someone is definitely benefiting from all these drama........Again all this tussle got the finger pointed to DT, conveniently.. haha
-
Flying to Europe or US would take longer time as they won't be allowed in the certain airspace. This is a mess!

Longest route by United with 18 hours straight at 8700 miles as claimed!

A couple of interesting tidbits.
Batik Air Indonesia are finally starting up DPS-PER-DPS flights in June twice daily using a B739ER.
There is a rumour circulating that Malindo are set to commence trans-tasman services potentially from PER to destinations in NZ, using bilateral agreements which are currently in-place, similar to what D7 does from OOL.
From PER to NZ? Using a single aisle aircraft? How would it be competitive compared to NZ using B787?

Malindo goes global
PETALING JAYA: Malindo Air will spread its wings to the Middle East, Europe and Africa. The airline, which has predominantly been operating in Asia since its started operations in March 2013, is working on interline and codeshare arrangements to spread its wings globally.
Read more at http://www.thestar.com.my/business/business-news/2017/05/11/malindo-goes-global/#05EsWPd2PZ2DDfY3.99OD is getting ambitious. I still find most of their prominent domestic routes not as vast as AK and MH.

It's called adjusting to the situation. In fact I've personal experience with this - AK had cancelled my flight to Langkawi, and my whole office trip was almost cancelled until someone suggested that we fly on to Penang & take the bus to Kuala Kedah & the ferry. The most interesting thing is that not only were we NOT compensated, AK CHARGED us to change destinations! At least in this case UA is willing to give compensation.
Are you willing to inconvenience 50 or more people (delays have a way of cascading down the line) when there's an option where only 4 people are inconvenienced?
Again is it more convenient to cause the company losing billions for all their action? resulting a man being humiliated and depressed and hospitalised?

BA doesn't even serve meal or drinks for short haul flights, 2 hours... expecting passengers to purchase selection of M&S on board.
