  1. MH illness stretched back to 1990’s, if the illness is flu like, MH is immuned. Unfortunately the illness resembling more like multiple cancers even chemotherapy is unlikely to help.

In practical sense, you don't really get immunity to flu because the virus mutates, that's why you get different flu jab each year.

Anyway, you get the idea. The treatment by Dr Fernandes and gang are making things worse. Like giving laxative and enema to someone with diarrhea..

  2. Let's see.. The treatment by Dr Fernandes and those share swap masterminds included:

    1) Axing Firefly jet, which had strong potential

    2) Sponsorship of Dr Fernandes's football club

    3) Air Asia people to take up top management positions

    4) Haneda route gone

    5) Premium economy gone

    6) Generous discount to Air Asia plane maintanence (but didn't eventuate as people complained)

I may have forgotten a few of treatments.. but to me, it's like whacking the patient with chemotherapy for flu.. Obviously the patient does not wish to be treated.

  3. A society or group of people, who find any reason to drink, dance, party and celebrate should be more open, friendlier and approachable in general than society or people that celebrate festivals in more solemn manner and wary of outsiders.

To individual, one tends to be more comfortable with people from the same culture, hence, would find them more approachable and easier to communicate i.e. friendly.

If one can break cultural barrier, will find cabin crews of other nationals are equally if not more friendlier.

I find Japanese to be very friendly, but they have quite solemn festivals.

  4. The comfort kit is a nice step forward for MH. It's this small things that matters. I like the neck pillows. It will somewhat set MH apart from others. Face it, if you fly economy, the seats are not going to be very comfortable for sleeping whether you are flying MH, Emiratres or Singapore Airlines. Economy is economy.

Toothbrush and toothpaste can be easily added into the pack. Don't really mind socks though. Emirates give socks but hardly anyone use them, it's low quality socks.

  5. I think we need to be clear with words here flee. This is not a 'bailout' financing. Airlines issue bonds all the time and 5-minutes of googling would reveal that a number of other airlines have and will issue bonds for capex and opex requirements (Emirates, AA, HK airlines, etc.....).

It is just simply, another way of getting funding. Plus there is no government guarantee here. Hence the word 'bailout' is completely false.

Some people call it fundraising, some people call it bailout.. One is positive and bailout has negative connotations associated with it. Cup half full or half empty, it's a matter of perception.

Detractors and those in opposition politics will call it bailout as it will somewhat paint the MH and the government in a bad light. The term bailout has been used and abused so many times in Malaysia. Some people even argue the share swap was to bailout Air Asia.

In reality, MH needs money to improve its products and services, it's just a way to get extra money. If you don't like them, just say they were bailout.

  6. If its still profitable for Mas Eng why not..?? I prefer for them being occupied rather than keep on under utilize like it is right now(correct me if im wrong).

Well, we already know MH as a whole is losing money.

In any business deal, both parties will have to agree on the price. Obviously the staff in MH were not quite happy, they felt their arms were twisted and the deal lopsided. They didn't like the idea of doing stuff for Air Asia and getting peanuts in return. People have to be happy to do their work, otherwise morale will suffer.

As to whether they are underutilized right now, I don't know, maybe others can shed some light here.

  7. From a bean counter point of view; if US$33 an hour covered variable cost and overhead (even if partially) and other business remain the same, Mas Engineering bottom line should ended up better.

Guess some people prefer charge high and work less.

Or some people prefer to pay less for the same work done.

  8. Well, the previous CEO of Petronas had courage and he took the company from being a national oil company to a world class, international Oil and Gas MNC. But his contract was not renewed because he was fiercely independent.

If the management of a profitable GLC like Petronas is not appreciated for making billions in profits, there is not much hope for a billion RM loss making company's management, is there?

It's a systemic problem in Malaysia. People come into a company with their own agendas and vested interests. Most just want benefits for themselves. Whether the company is making profit or not is only part of the equation.

  9. Easier said than done. What is common sense to you and me may not be common sense with those interfering politicians.

That's true, it's easier said than done. That's why the management must have to courage to do so. The suggestions by the unions and MAS employees are not rocket science, they are just common sense stuff. But here, we have people with their own vested interests which complicates things, like eg. someone want only to pay peanuts for aircraft maintenance and etc etc.

  10. Now that the share swap is over, a lot of people said after all this fuss, MH is now back to square one. In my view, MH is not back to square one, they are tossed many squares back in the negative. In other words, they are worse off than before the share swap. A lot damages done, now they need to crawl back to square one.

  11. Share swap may be off - but CCF remains, so the only advantage of this is that TF will not be able to get insider information about MH's operations & strategies anymore.

    That's all.

But he will still have his eyes and ears via the ex-Air Asia men in MH now. Life will still be difficult for MH for a long time.

  12. IMO, how can u see progress when everyting u plan being opposed in the first place?

Well, not entirely true. We have seen the football club sponsorship went through. Also premium economy in A380 was scrapped. The red paint disappeared. Firefly jet all but gone. A couple of routes cut.
