A friend like this is no friend at all. We need a stronger response!
But then again, all Western powers are all talk and no action.
Looking at MH370 and MH17, Malaysia really do not have many friends.. Guess this is the real world, everyone for themselves.. We have to be self sufficient.
Japan was an exception, they helped out a lot for MH370 though they didn't need to.
With MH17, SIA was quick to announce that they do not fly the route (though they actually did), no sympathy at all.
CNN and some Australian medias twisted their news like Malaysia Airlines was trying to cut cost by flying over dangerous area which other airlnes avoided..
Russia, well, I never think Russia considers Malaysia as a friend, though we have tried to be friendly. We have tried to be friendly with many countries.
-
Guess the route wouldn't be so popular now..
-
It makes your blood boils when journalists in their best attempt want to make Malaysia Airlines look bad.. Very sensational and lopsided reporting.
Airlines, including Qantas, quit flying over Ukraine airspace months ago
MALAYSIA Airlines flight MH17, which was shot down over rebel-held eastern Ukraine, was flying through airspace that a number of other Asian carriers abandoned months ago due to security concerns.

mandatory sounds a bit unfriendly..
-
I don't know why the outrage, people are trying their best to find the plane..
-
And will have a nasty surprise at check-in. Not many occasional travellers are aware of piece system baggage allowance. Any other airline doing such 'hybrid' weight plus piece system limit?
Qantas is.. Only one check in baggage.. Horrible.
-
Certainly not favourable. People prefer to have the option of check in many smaller bags or boxes, especially Asians on their overseas shopping trips and students..

More details on distribution of manpower from The Star..
60% remained at LCCT.
Only foreign counters were reduced from 22 to 11.
In retrospect, 11 counters are not enough but then again, you can say anything in retrospect and sound wiser.
In retrospect, Air Asia would probably do better just to move to KLIA2 on 2 May.
PETALING JAYA: The Immigration Department has issued a statement regarding Sunday's incident where passengers faced delays at the immigration gates at the Low Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT) in Sepang due to a lack of manned counters, which all airlines were informed of and knew about.
"The Government had directed operations at KLIA2 to start on May 2 and for LCCT to cease operations. However, AirAsia announced that they would only move on May 9," its director-general Datuk Aloyah Mamat said in a statement.
She added that the Immigration Department, together with other agencies, had discussions with airline companies, warning of possible congestion over the transition period.
"The congestion was expected if the officers from government agencies had to man two airports (LCCT and KLIA2) simultaneously. AirAsia had acknowledged this," she said.
Aloyah said that as KLIA2 opened on May 2, some immigration officers stationed at the LCCT, as well as equipment, had been transferred there.
"Before KLIA2 opened, there were four counters and three autogates for designated Malaysians, and 22 counters for foreign visitors," she said.
Aloyah also informed that the number of counters for Malaysians were not reduced, with only those for foreign visitors affected from 22 counters to 11.
"Overall, 60% of immigration officers remained at LCCT to manage the passengers from AirAsia flights, and only 40% were transferred to KLIA2.

Quite a decent airport..
-
It will be fair to passengers using KLIA2 to pay a higher PSC than current LCCT. It's no longer a low cost terminal. Read that Air Asia had even asked for spa and museum.. Lots of things happened behind the scene I suppose..

Yes, the less they have to deal with the govt. the more they can be a commercial and profit making entity. Dealing with govt. is not easy - look at how Malaysian motor companies are screwed by changing govt. policies. Look at how MAS is screwed by lack of leadership and political will. Airasia X should do well, now that its success or failure is largely in its own hands. Plus there is no such thing as a govt. bailout for them....
Air Asia deals with the gov all the time, even recruited some ex politician.. There is no way they can be where they are now without gov help.. Just that they don't allow any meddling in the running of the airlines..
-
Anedoctally, Qantas flies a whole lot more business travellers than MH, this supposes to be where the bulk of the money comes from.. Yet, if they still can't generate a profit, something is very wrong..
-
For my curiosity, how much did EPF invest in MH?
-
Despite being in Oneworld, they still made a loss..
Don't see things improving any time soon.. The management seems to be out of ideas.. No political will (both gov and opposition) to make things better also..
-
Can I suggest that is a non-starter ?
Many, if not most, of the communities the RAS is supposed to service are located up in the hills where amphibious aircraft are ...... well, rather redundant to put it bluntly
(sorry Timothy )
If anything, will need Osprey..
-
Maybe MH should get Chef Wan to contribute...
-
If that's what it takes to help MAS to get back on its feet, then so be it... They can return in glory one day if they are successful..
-
If mas continues to sell ticket below cost, they will surely die. It's something simple but not everyone can understand especially when it comes to making sacrifices for the company. Naturally many prefer to see others making sacrifices, not them. Even the mighty SIA asked their employees to take unpaid leave or things like that when the going gets tough.
On my part, I fly with mas (and air Asia) whenever possible. Still would like to Malaysian companies successful though I have been living in Australia almost half my life now.
-
He didnt say exactly how MAS will win back the market share -
Reading between the lines, he spends time rallying his troops/employees...
If the employees are not behind him, any turnaround plans would fail... They need to be with him thick and thin..For his part, he needs to show solid leadership and win trust..
-
In the longrun, they will need airfare which will be sustainable for airlines yet attractive for passengers.. If they close shop, it's no good..
-
MI is there..................
Guess what I was alluding to was there is no really good business class..
But unfortunately, 737 800 business seats in MH is a bit sad too..
-
If they try hard, I am sure they can be successful in Darwin as there is no really business class out of the city.
-
Near Darwin airport.. Malaysia Airlines is only doing a low-key publicity in Darwin..
-
I think we're about the same height, probably the same size too.
To be honest I couldn't visualize how people can't get comfortable because the one time I flew onboard a BSI equipped 738 in Y (from MYY to KUL) I had no discomfort in the middle seat.
When I flew with those Sky Interior 738, the seats itself were ok but just the sense of being in a tight space. Can get a bit claustrophobic.

I thought the gov has already asked and is still asking for unrestricted and safe access.
I understand a team of Malaysians already there and more will go, but plenty of restrictions over there at the moment.
