Insulin cartridge that is currently being used can be kept in room temperature, the rest can be stored in the fridge so they can last longer. That statement about coma sounds a bit too exaggerated..

I know.. I was saying it QANTAS is the safest airline..because they once announced it in their local tv network putting themselves as number one among the rest of the world as the safest.. with Singapore, Malaysia, Cathay carriers not even in the top 5.. how ironic is that? Even blamed Malaysia/Singapore for the problems in maintenance
They also put forth themselves as the world's most experienced airline.. debatable of course.. but they sure have plenty of experience with flight emergencies.
-
That article is confusing... If the airline allows you to plug in your Ipod or laptop inflight, doesnt that make them part of the entertainment system. You entertain yourself using your tiny little Ipod during the flight, so it's part of the IFE.
IFE is here to stay. It will just evolve to one that offers passengers greater flexibility and control.

In case anyone need reminding, that same 'encroachment' (read predatory approach ) was a major, major contributory factor towards eventual demise of Sir Freddie Laker's fledging, but revolutionary business model
Mind you, D7 now has one principal weapon not available to Sir Freddie all those years ago - the internet !
Hmm..but legacies airlines are embracing the internet also.. guess they don't have LCCT.

Tony Fernandez can talk like politicians sometimes, so have to read between the lines..
But it's a smart move by Air Asia, otherwise they might overstretch themselves..

Come to think of my Indonesian friends.. Most actually don't have any high regard for MH or Malaysia in general.. That's probably because we Malaysians like to say lousy things about ourselves. They believe we are lousy because we said so..
If my little group of Indonesian friends is representative of Indonesians in general, MH does not have the "superiority" factor, unlike other airlines like SQ..
And with GA also flying the route, Indonesians can get pretty nationalistic sometimes..
So those marketing people in MH have an uphill task making the route work. Better cooperate with GA to have better chances of success.
-
MAS hasn't started yet and there goes the monopoly.. what a pity..
But another note, people still dare to fly with GA? I know caucasians not very keen but don't know about Indonesians though..

I was thinking the same thing seeing that they now almost back to the so called 'hot meal' instead of the sandwich. Why not just use the trays?
Yes, it's most bizarre.. to save money and to be environmentally friendly, one thought they could simply reuse the tray. Can't think of much benefit from using boxes, maybe it's more compact, so use less storage space or maybe people can take away..
-
Mohd Azizul, you have pretty good suggestions to MAS.. I hope they will take heed of them.
Though departing at 5AM is an ungodly hour for some but they will arrive at 8AM.. I am sure that will be factored into consideration by potential customers.
Melbourne has a huge huge Indonesian population. If MAS can tap into this, they will be rewarded. MAS has to aggressively sell the route and make it work. Can't just sit and wait for customers.
-
It's good to see there are still a few good guys in MAS, but their arms were tied.. now they have to undo so much damages done previously.
With the expose, hope it will deter any further dubious arrangements in MAS.. They are in the spotlight now.

You will notice that when the ang mos get desperate and want to get attention, they take off their clothes. Sex sells....

Uncle Tony is now lobbying for MAHB to further reduce the airport taxes.Surely a tough battle. MAHB would complain that AK has been given a very much discounted rates, MH (through Uncle Idris) would probably asked IATA to interfere once again like last time this issue is being brought up.
Looks like Air Asia is also feeling the heat. All these low fares from MAS is giving Air Asia a run for their money.
They need to gain extra leverage in the competition by having a much lower airport tax.

Understand case mortality rate for H1N1 is less than 1%, lower than dengue hemorrhagic fever. Believe all the hype will die down in a few weeks/months time. That's right. If you don't have any significant health problem, most people will only get mild symptoms with H1N1 or no symptoms at all. If you look at the people who died from H1N1, these are people with multiple health problems, cancers, poor immune system, bad lung and etc. In these people even a "common flu" can kill them.
In Malaysia, some people are so hysterical about H1N1...and the government is not helping either, they are creating more fear instead of giving the right information.
-
Shouldn't you people be more concerned about diseases like dengue and such in Malaysia.. H1N1 is just way overrated by the media.

Just browsed through your blog, staunch support of MAS?Well, not really, I actually like both airlines, such that I am the unofficial ambassador of both airlines to my colleagues. But I don't like it when Air Asia acts like a crook.. owe people but don't want to pay and use it as a bargaining tool some more. I understand their airport tax is already cheaper but they are not satisfied and don't want to pay. A bit of airport tax is not going to make them lose customers cause all airlines will kena airport tax. Theirs is already lower so they already have the advantage.
I read today that the government is getting some consultant to sort out this airport tax mess. No doubt the tax in the LCCT should be lower than the main terminal but it should be fair. If the tax difference is too great, then people will start to shun the main terminal. Good for Air Asia but bad for others. So they need to find the middle ground to benefit both the LCCT and main terminal, not just to please Air Asia. But history tells me that Air Asia will more often than not gets what it wants...we will see this time.

Aha, proof here that the business world has gone topsy turvyI can still remember days when one feels indebted to one's creditor(s)
Now debt is leverage
MAS should also learn the Air Asia way, owe some millions of RM and use it a bargaining tool. Then again, they may not have some powerful political figures behind them.
-
Read from Bernama that they still owe MAHB quite a bit of airport tax. So the "tax+fare", where does the tax go?

MAS offers cheap fares until Dec 15PETALING JAYA, June 22 — Malaysia Airlines is launching a low-fare campaign today with promotions to all destinations until Dec 15.
The all inclusive fares start from RM118 to Singapore, RM488 to Australia and RM898 to Europe.
The low fares however are only for non-peak flights.
Every 500th customer who books a flight on malaysiaairlines.com will also get free return ticket.
Malaysia Airlines senior general manager Datuk Bernard Francis said that he expects about RM50 million in sales from this campaign.
http://www.themalaysianinsider.com/index.p...es-until-dec-15
Datuk Bernard Francis was recruited from AK, expect more of AK style offering from MH.
And according to the Malaysian Insider, "Also for the first time, Malaysia Airlines is allowing customers to accumulate loyalty points under its Enrich programme when they buy the discounted fares." Yea..something positive

Yup, the swine flu capital. How's the situation in Perth ?
It's apparently reached Christmas Island as well.
Perth is ok.. i personally only heard one case and that person only has sore throat, so no big deal...just quarantine and some antiviral
-
Of the five new cases, 2 of it came from Melbourne. Hmmm.......Melbourne is one of the world's leading exporter of swine flu now..
I think partly due to the winter there, most people get a flu or sorts

Pity D7. Why are our government acting like this? D7 presented a case that they'll make KUL and Malaysia a world renowned low cost aviation hub, but it was not supported at all just to protect MH (what other reason?) CORRUPT!I don't think the reason being is because of the bilateral agreements between Malaysia and Australia and Malaysia and Korea. MH can't even make KUL-ICN daily, so why sabotage others who want to make the route flourish?
I am very dissappointed.
They might be just inefficient. You know how difficult it can be with all those redtapes and it depends on the mood of the person you are dealing with also. If the little Napoleans are not in a good mood, then you are in for a hard time. They may not even give two hoots whether MAS sink or fall.

I ask her, Why can't MAS just cancel the A380s. Even suggesting her to get some B77Ws...hahaAbout the 'M&M' seats...MAS staffs are against it, even she dosent like it...but one or two in the company are just so selfish and doesnt want to hear any views.
About the M&M seats, are they in all fleets or just 737 and some old A330? The current 737, they are going to retire them anyway with the new 738 soon, so changing the cushion cover just a temporary measure, don't have to spend too much money. Don't tell me they are going to use the M&M style for the new 738..
-
MAS adopted the FRS 139 early so there will be more transparency and people can compare MAS like-for-like with their competitors.. but so far little is mentioned about how they are faring against their competitors. Are they lagging behind badly or everyone is in some sort of trouble. I don't have any accounting background (beyond PMR), so I won't know. Perhaps someone can enlighten me.

MAS posted a loss of RM695.. In a sense they were "going beyond expectation". The loss did not top RM2 billion as some analysts predicted. Hmm.. They sure have very low expectation for MAS.
SQ POSTS S$307 MILLION LOSS IN FIRST QUARTER

When SQ posted a loss, you know things are pretty tough for full service airlines.. Guess all the low fares and discounts are not sustainable if they keep making loss like this.
