Based on the timing, it looks like they are preparing the A380 to cater for transit passengers for DXB transit rush hours. The flight from DXB in the morning at 10am is usually empty. A couple of times which I fly on 77W, the back of the plane is practically empty with only about 15 passengers.

From my understanding - the real reason it doesn't update properly is actually not because it's marked as an award ticket.
Enrich award tickets for business book into D at the lowest level, and U for other oneworld carriers booking on MH.
Whereas MH upgrade books into I.
It is because 1) I class itself doesn't map out to anything that earns (no oneworld carrier, MH included, gives miles or points for MH I)
2) The system also populates the FQTU field with your enrich number with the new I class booking (standard revenue bookings put your enrich number in the FQTV field).
Having the number in the FQTU field somehow inhibits earnings (this is a double whammy and kinda redundant since via point 1 you won't earn anyway)
Everything has to be retro claimed manually
I guess you are right.Sorry for the confusion
Still finding my way to understand all this booking class codes...haha

Just to update that I already have my miles credited to my account. I wrote in an email to Enrich with the boarding pass, original ticket and new e-ticket.
Based on the boarding pass alone, it will show an award ticket class. Most probably that is why it does not get updated automatically.

Could they be preparing the planes for refurbishment? Else, there will be many planes idling in KLIA
-
are you sure? my upgraded flight has voided the enrich miles
http://www.malaysiaairlines.com/my/en/plan/MHupgrade/about-mhupgrade/terms-and-conditions.html
number 26
My previous flight got upgraded with no miles also
I have yet to receive my miles yet, which I mentioned it took longer than expected. I will be emailing Enrich next week if my Enrich miles are not credited yet.
Read the FAQ. We should be receiving the Enrich miles based on the original booking class.
http://www.malaysiaairlines.com/my/en/plan/MHupgrade/about-mhupgrade/faq.html
Will I receive extra Enrich Miles if I am successfully upgraded?
No. Enrich Miles can only be earned for the original booking class.

I got upgraded by bidding the minimum of RM660 for DXB-KUL leg. Load was 50% in J. Usually the miles will be credited within one or two days, but this takes longer than expected after this upgrade.
Last minute upgrade at the Golden Lounge is about RM3.5k, so RM660 is a steal IMHO

Anyone knows where we can check the Temptations catalogue online? I have colleague asking me to buy something for her using the voucher

Unfortunately, the BA lounge@DXB is usually close or will be closing at about the time MH pax will typically be at the terminal for the MH flight to KUL.
So, if you are very early airside at the airport, you may be able to access it at the tail-end of its operating hours for that period. Wont be long though. By the time it reopens later in the evening, MH would have departed.
And yes, QR doesn't have its own lounge at DXB.
Oh, I did not realize that. I saw some website showing the operating hours is 2.30pm to 2.00am. Anyway, there is still a Marhaba lounge.
By the way, anyone knows if we get amenity kits for DXB-KUL sector in J?
-
If travelling on a Oneworld carrier, standard oneworld rules apply, IF the lounge you intend to go to is Oneworld carrier operated (not third party).
So flying MH (i'm guessing you are from the Marhaba invitation), you can use the BA lounge which is operated by BA, but not the QR lounge, because QR uses some third party contractor (can't remember the name, but they don't have their own lounge in DXB if i recall correctly)
So your choices, flying MH, are the Marhaba (MH contracted) or BA (BA operated).
Thanks Suzanne. Yup, I will be flying MH. BA lounge does not seem to get a good review, but I will drop by to have a look since I tried the Marhaba lounge before.
QR is using the Dubai International Hotel Lounge in Terminal 1.
-
Just checking if I am traveling from DXB and the invitation is to the Marhaba lounge, can we go to the BA lounge or Qatar lounge also? Or it has to follow the invitation?

5. Tweet about how this is 101% MH's fault
6. Vow never to take MH again!!

Maybe MH could just hand out iPads? I do love the current 777 seats more than the A330's, but it is showing age.
Then the cost to repair or recover the ipad will be even higher

20000 suppliers is just crazy..no wonder so many suppliers become rich overnight

Yesterday during check in on a flight from KWI to DOH on QR, the check in agent told me the following exact words:
" Sorry sir, you maybe a Gold in Malaysia Airlines, but in QR system, you are just a normal card holder to get the miles". With this assumption, no lounge access and no priority luggage tagging.
I tried telling her about the OneWorld..bla bla bla, but she kept referring to the system. So, I gave up..haha
System screw up I supposed... or could be because I check in online. I had no problem in Doha, but not sure why this happens in KWI.
What surprises me is the information that the check in agent has, saying that Gold in MH is nothing in QR . I wonder if Platinum is the same as well...haha

It's going to be another build first and think later how to use....
contracts will be abundant again and up for grabs
-
Arrghh....I stopped taking EK after MH came back for DXB. the load wasn't so bad either to DXB, but not sure on the yield
-
I am planning to go to London and still considering to choose whether EK or MH..this is because EK offer great deal which cost about RM2400 return
If you do not want to spend time transiting at the busy Dubai airport street at a very odd time, then go for MH to get in much quicker to London.
To be honest, QR will be a better choice as compared to EK

That is one hell of a jump!! Leave us with a week to clear all the miles...
there are also rumors of conversion rate of credit card points to enrich mile is going up as well, eg 10k point to 1k miles.

Since I changed job and do not travel as frequent anymore, my Enrich Gold had been downgraded. But the last I remember (that was as far back as 2011), I could no longer bring in a guest in a third party lounge. They would allow if I travelled on business and use that ticket and enrich gold to bring in a guest. I imagine the benefits can only get lesser now...
In any case, Enrich has disappointed my on a few occassions - top of the list is that surcharge and taxes are exorbitant when i redeemed for tickets, compared to commercial tickets. I paid so much more especially when that route just recently went on sale! urgh!
It is odd when others in the OneWorld Alliance is practicing something else.
I just got back from flying with Qatar Airways (KUL-DOH-RUY & JED-DOH-KUL) and I have no problems bringing in another guest to the lounge in Doha and the 3rd party lounge in Jeddah. Invitation card were given automatically with one additional guest.

You had issues to access lounge in SGN? May I know when it happend because I had no problem as Gold/Sapphire brought my partner for SGN shared CIP Rose lounge in (Sep 2013) & also in (Jun 2013) for Phuket (HKT) airport The Coral Executive lounge eventhough travelling on EY class.
I just came back from SGN last week. I was traveling with a colleague of mine and we checked in together at the Business Class Counter. The staff at the counter mentioned that they can only give the access to the card holder because the CIP Rose Lounge is a 3rd party lounge...
I tried emailing Enrich to get some clarification, which I can bring along the email if such situation occurs again, but have yet to get any reply
-
It should be you + 1 guest. If it's a third party lounge they should issue two invites with one marked as "guest of (seat no.)" or something to that extent.
Thanks... looks like I got conned there. I will request them to issue me with +1 guest in the future.
-
Just to check with those who has Enrich Gold... were you able to bring in a guest to the lounge (shared lounge) while you are in airport overseas and travel in economy class?
I read through the benefits of Enrich Gold which states that we can bring in a guest to the lounge regardless of class of travel, but I had issues when I was in Delhi and Ho Chi Minh. The check in counter says only the card holder is allowed because it is a 3rd party lounge and I am traveling in Economy.
So, I got confuse there....did I understand the benefits wrongly?

I saw the billboard near the roundabout on the way to SZB. Kind of weird to have it there when they are not flying off from SZB.

Looks like there will be 3 daily flights again to Sydney in December. Just realized it when I tried to make my flight booking
