  2. What is 'sleeping' means?

They dont have work to do or they dont want to do job.

    For example in engineering

MAB only pay around rm1800-3000 for aircraft technician. They will strugle to do an OT to get more take home pay.

Lot of engineering staff migrate to EK, Ey, QR. They get at least 12k and it tax free. They have no problen in doing work. They follow what company ask them to do.

  5. Route Rationalisation - Suspension of KUL - LAX route

I wish to update our team that the decision has been made to suspend our KUL - Los Angeles (LAX) flights as part of the route rationalisation exercise. This takes effect on 30 April 2014.

We have a long history in Los Angeles. Unfortunately, this route is no longer economically viable. Various factors contribute to this negative situation over-capacity and competition resulting in lower yields, the high cost of operating the B777 aircraft, and pressure from continued increases in fuel costs. All these are adding further pressure to our Group expenses, which we are continuously evaluating.

The route rationalisation is expected to have minimal impact on Malaysia's position as a top tourist destination in Asia, as we will continue to have that connectivity with the US markets through our codeshare and oneworld partners.

We currently offer seamless one-stop air connectivity between KUL and several major cities in the US through codeshare arrangements with American Airlines and Japan Airlines.

These are to Atlanta, Boston, Washington, Houston, Minneapolis, Portland, Seattle, San Francisco, Las Vegas, San Diego, Honolulu and Raleigh.

The route rationalisation will allow us to optimize resources. A major focus is Asia where the demand outlook is strong, fuelled by a growing middle class and increased global and intra-regional trade. We will look to increase frequencies to key regional cities to benefit from the strong growth in regional demand.

The impact to our cargo operations is expected to be minimal as key cargo destinations in the US will be maintained.

The route suspension to LAX is a difficult decision to make. However, at a time when competition is intense, yields are low and our costs still remain high, we have to relook at all aspects of our operations to improve how we operate and make profit.
