any spotting trips around the corner?

Hi all, I am new to this forum no idea where to post my intro msg... Well is there any like outings spotting outing perhaps? saw norman's pics and really want to try shooting some myself. What tele lens is needed? is 200mm enough? Sorry if I posted in the wrong section regards, hsienming
