J Parking: Coz they come in straight then turn away 45 degrees from the terminal. Just like a letter "J".

Nose-in: Can apply to aerobridge gates or docking gates where the parking is just straight to the terminal with the nose of the aircraft facing the terminal.

The BKI docking gates parking is the planes need to come in straight and turn 90 degrees away from the terminal with the tail r directly facing the terminal. (Dunno what it called)

  2. Choong, Adrian,

I'm still getting difficulty trying to get the rego for these aircraft, but hopefully will get em soon. Adrian, you saw the Fokker in pelangi colours? thats pretty interesting. you have the pictures? i wonder if can find on A.net? there are some differences between the pelangi MH fokkers and the MH fokkers. i guess pelangi ordered a slightly different configured cockpit. actually, kinda like the pelangi MH fokkers more, but unfortunately there is only one left and it isnt in the of best conditions.

I don't have it on pictures coz back then still hvnt own a camera yet. But it still fresh in my mind. I'm going to do a repaint with Pelangi colors on MH F50 aircraft. So u'll get to fly it on FS :p But u can imagine it now. F50 with no Pelangi green bungaraya logo and the Pelangi written on the body. Whats left is the Blue and green line at the end of the body. MH logo is at vertical fin and MALAYSIA is written at the ex-pelangi body logo title just behind front door.

  3. Adrian,

sorry for the late reply. busy a bit lately :) anyways, MER's parts are all stripped out, like the other 2 Dorniers as well. they sell it as spare parts i guess.if you notice the Dorniers has been 'raped' even worse than the Fokker. the ailerons and flap section is gone, the rudder gone, engine. Subang does look a bit errie with all the stored aircrafts around. sad to seem them this way, but i guess this is just natural, we will all go on day :) the red ribbons you see on all the gear sections are called gear pins. they are to lock the gear from inadvertantly retracting. the nose gear compartment door is open i guess for maintenance purposes. probably easier to access certain things. btw, we had an incident before where the main gear collapse. :)

What happened? Did someone "Push Upwards" on the Main Gear? Always interested to know what happened if push upwards. :p.

So Ex-Pelangi MGJ, MGK proved what I saw last time at 1997 or 98 where MAS F50 having Blue and Green c/s on the body but with Mas logo on the vertical fin and Malaysia written on the front part of the body.

  4. if they sell it for scrap metal price, i wouldn't buy it for private use. maybe i could start doing business with MMU ;) ;) . they could get their fastest way from malacca to cyberjaya :D :D

LOL fly the route from Batu Berendam to Subang? Or u plan to make a STOL stop on the top of the building? :p

  5. LOL if they sell it at affordable (metal dump price) price then I would certainly buy and clean it and put it on display :p Recond it's interior. I think this baby has the chance to fly by replacing the faulty parts. Just the airframe is in question.

  6. I live in Tawau prior to moving to NZ. Yes I am absolutely sure of it. How can I missed out the Boeing company livery with the three letters "757" at the tail?

Remember the 757s have short runway capability and the engines are powerful enough.

I have even got photos to prove it but not now as they are in Tawau still. Don't think the 757s went to Sandakan according to the local newspaper.

It attracted local attention and my father brought us to the airport specifically for that occasion.

:o :o Wow...then that must be something. Great memories and dun forget to post it once u got hold of the pics :p Regardless how long it took. hehe

  7. 20 odd years ago, I remember seeing the first Boeing 757 demo in Boeing Company colours landed at Tawau airport (for fuel). She was on her way to Bandar Seri Begawan from Seattle as a demonstration to Royal Brunei airlines. A year or two later, I saw a handful of Boeing 757-2M6s in Royal Brunei colours at BKI. Probably the largest ever a/c landed at the old Tawau airport.

Now she is gone.... I miss the 757s in Royal Brunei colours and they look great!

    S V,

Are you sure coz old TWU can barely cater for 732 and 734. Maybe you mean SDK as I heard someone there say there are 757 visited there before.

  8. If you spot carefully now,

AK 'Bus will delay gear retraction after lift-off

Anything to do with this incident? :o

Heard it happened to all tyres...

Maybe they didn't have gear cooling system installed.

In the flight manual there are these procedures:

Leaving the gear extended for several minutes after takeoff will provide cooling

for tires and brakes (important if on a short flight segment).

Extending the gear a few minutes early in the approach will provide sufficient

cooling for a landing with cool tires and brakes.

I guess that's what they are doing.

    9M-MER

:o :o :o Where's the propellers?!?! Look worst state than JHB ones.

    IPB Image

Dornier with parts all taken out

Very looks like in the graveyard state.

MER is not the only one at storage, so is MGK :)

The propeller cone is gone on engine 1! I see the nose gear well door is open, is that the standard procedures for aircraft in storage? 2 Pelangi's also have them opened. And what's the red ribbons on the gears for?

    It went bankrupted. The end.

Is there any story behind it? What happened to this F50 now since the last photo shoot of it and also the sistership of -MER? Why they didn't sell it away at the 1st place or let MH use or give it to Netherlands Aero Museum just like the 3rd prototype of F27 that currently gracefully displayed? Or at least 'donate' to be Stork Fokker Maritime? Are they destined to be scrap and not to fly again (No hope for recond?)?

What about the DO-228 fleets? Sold?

What a waste of a good plane.... it makes me very furious to see they leave it like that rotting.
