  1. Just went driving around LCCT and then runway 33. Workers are on hand to dismantles various shops and F&B outlets there and also the old LCCT food court. I hope security are tight so that no unauthorized personnel one can sneak on to the ramp and roam free.

Didn't know they rerouted the Jalan Pekeliling to Runway 3 and then onwards to KLIA2.

From spotting point of view its going to be a real consideration of give and take; you want A320 and all their special liveries, runway 33 it is. if international airline and other type of planes is the main target, 32L. hmm... decision decision... or spent thousands on super zoom lens to take runway 33 landing from 32L.

Any of the Bulis , well, bullied you when you took a drive at the new extended pekeliling?

  2. Some maybe worthless I got from my visit last night :

    1) parking is the same price as KLIA - rm 4 an hour up to rm 46 a day

    2) the valet parking out the front of departures is On weekends RM15 for the 1st hour, 5 every subsequent hour up to max rm 100 a day. On weekdays it's RM15 for the first 2 hours, 5 per subsequent hour, max 100 per day

    3) entry to the parking is at level CP7. Level CP4 is the only one with direct access to the terminal. Auto pay only on level CP1/4/7. Highest is level CP8 which I think is rooftop open air.

    4) AK group seems to be using the left hand side bank of check in counters STUV. OD / 5J and others the right hand bank WXYZ.

    5) cheapest place I found to buy drinks and snacks is the pharmacy far right. The others like WH Smith seem to sell them at inflated prices. The pharmacy has more "regular" pricing.

    6) on arrival - both Maxis and Celcom operate right outside the arrivals area. Digi and U mobiles shops are further away to the left after passing Jaya grocer.

    7) I have both digi And maxis lines - decent LTE most areas of the terminal with maxis. Digi a bit disappointing - only 3G and poor data speeds wherever I tried.

for Number 4, at Open day i did saw row Y showing the logo for AirAsia X. so perhaps the a320 fleet is on the left?

  3. Is there any airside transfer between terminals? Any chance of ERL transfer between terminals becoming FOC in the future?

I dont think FOC is in the works.

But i heard the transfer is going to be RM2.

MAHB is hoping to recoup the building costs via rentals from the commercial lots - they have realised they will not be able to milk the passengers and airlines forever. They are trying to emulate Changi's thriving mall. Not a bad thing to copy...

When you enter from the car park, the first building is actually the shooping mall. The second building is the actual terminal.

Huge crowd at the Open Day today, probably what they had hoped for to really test their machinery. There were some teething problems but nothing major. Aircond can't cope with the crowd...

For plane spotters, I think they can forget shooting at the Skybridge on arrival. It is far better to shoot during departure time.

    Just look at the crowds!

Its a preview of how packed KLIA2 will be when AirAsia group is full swing there!

  4. What I read in between the lines:

    • AK will only moved once the PSC at klia2 is finalised. Logically, the PSC will be higher than those charged at the current LCCT because the terminal itself is not low cost.
    • AK does not want to pay for the usage of SITA.
    • AK does not want to pay for the usage of aerobridges.

Basically, I think AK is reluctant to move to klia2 because of cost related reasons, not over functionality, safety and security concerns.

This is actually derived from a grave grand addressing issue, where AK requested for a bigger low cost terminal but similar in conditions and operating costs to the existing facility but were given a bling bling expensive terminal that it is definitely not willing to pay for its added features, more over that now it does seem that they are sort of being forced to pay for certain facilities just by moving into the new terminal.

Bottom line will definitely get hit just by moving into klia2.

Will this be an excuse for them to raise their fares then?

But isnt having SITA implemented a good thing? or I am wrong here?

  5. Once you have achieved the required threshold to attain elite status (say 25k to be a Silver), you can use those 25k miles for redemption...and you will still remain as a Silver until the next qualifying period. In fact, you can have a Zero balance and still be a Platinum...

Balance in account at any one time doesn't influence your Elite status once such status has been achieved.

And just to be clear, using your example...if you have used up that initial 25k to the max.. (so balance is now zero) ...but then later accrue another say 25k new miles within the current qualifying period, you will be a Gold.

There are two counters: Elite qualifying miles or segments (We call those EQM/EQS) and the enrich miles you can use to redeem (we call those RDM)

Elite qualifying miles or segments are only used to count for qualification - they are reset every year, and can ONLY be earned by flying. Hit 25K, you get promoted.

RDM is also awarded when you fly, or shop in Temptations, or transfer from Credit Cards/Hotels. Those are NOT reset - although they will expire at the end of several years.

RDM is what you use to redeem tickets - you can have a balance of 0 (by spending it) but your qualifying miles are not removed until the end of the year.

    Ah.

    So RDM =/= Elite miles?

And using RDM does not effect my road to Elite?

Hmm if that is the case i still have a looong way to go.

    Thanks for the information!

p.s. So redeeming a Y is not advisable now? better head for J?

  6. Have a few questions I want to ask to Enrich sifus:

    1. Do i need to maintain the 25,000 enrich points to reach silver, or once i reach that (and the number of elite sectors traveled) i am automatically a Silver member?

    2. I presume that redeemed flights dont accrue miles? (wishful thinking haha)

    3. What has been your lowest redeemed points for the furthest distance ratio?

    Thanks.
