Pilots who left 2 years ago with the VSS exercise "may" have the option of returning to MAB from January.
The stipulation was cannot rejoin for 2 years.
Maybe someone with friends in MAB can verify this.

This is an interesting article.
He writes on the possibility that Hawaiian Airlines cancels it orders for 6 -800 planes (Hawaiian is reconsidering since they will run the risk as the sole operator) and Air Asia X swaps 66 -900 for the A350.
The order book for the neo dwindles and this will lead to other business issues.

If they were to replace our 738s...why the A332 and not the A333? Unless ofcourse A332s are cheaper to obtain. The A332 has a lower seat count but a better range so one guess is of course AKL. The other wild guess is we are trying to re-enter some European markets next year.

After reading multiple articles on this deal, the B789 deal has stumped many. It has too great a range...
It works only if MAS is planning some long range thin routes ie US cities or European cities?
The A330neo has the best fit in terms of capacity, range, maintenance.
On a personal note, would be great if MAB flew to Hawaii with EK providing the feeder service. Not sure if there is a good enough demand though....(yes maybe too many players with AAX and Scoot in the mix)

Airlines do keep a fleet owned and leased equipment. Since MAB has announced this 8x B789 purchase, if and only if they do go the leasing way to top up their future fleet, Boeing seems to be the front runner, to keep the fleet as common as possible.

Some huge purchase deals were expected....but 8? We should get the real number soon I guess. Was hoping for a bigger number 😀

9M-MND is on its way back as MAS1D. Just entering over the Straits of Malacca.

Checking it out on https://www.flightradar24.com/data/aircraft/9m-mnd, found it to still be stuck at LHR, missing its scheduled flight out on Saturday the 26th. Anyone has any idea what's up with her?

I was kinda lucky to have some good weather....the sun was out on the first day.
Shots are a mix from 27R and 27L...had a fair bit of walking to do.My bucket list shot.
This place was a real dream!
Will post more later.

LHR route is an important route. Despatch reliability is important to MAB. Spare A350 is required, but keeping it on the ground, with depreciating cost, is also bad for MAB. I guess using the "spare A350" on short hop returns 4-6 hours would be ideal.
The spare aircraft can be back in KUL to be turned around for LHR quickly.
The "short hop route" (ie BKK, DPS, SIN) can then be replaced by an A330 or B737.
