  1. My late father was supposed to be on that flite. He had missed the flite because he had stopped to pray at a nearby mosque. By the time he arrived at the airport, the flite was near closing but because there were VIPs and their gang on board, he was bumped out on the next flite. I still remember how we waited in agony at home. I guess communication was not easy those days. And my brother was born on 31 Dec 1977 thereafter. This incident left an everlasting mark on my mum and i (since I was the only child at that point).

  2. Ya might aswell cancel the orders if the financial losses associated with the order can be mitigated when cancelling the contract. PMB might even have the same clause as ILFC where the company can cancel the contract without penalties after a 6 month delay. If i was in PMB I would have that clause in my contract.

I just don't think MAS is in dire need of an A380 just yet. Boeing offerings will probably be just the right ingredient for MAS.

I suspect that policy of buying less"Made in USA" products probably resulted in this unwarranted A380 purchase because there could have been alot of strings attached to the US purchase that the govt didn't want for it could have jeopardized our national security.

Ya at the end of the day, who knows ehh? My 2 cents worth.

  3. Sneeze,

I remember doing an assignment back in Uni in 1995 on LCC, in the US at that time there was only Southwest and I had a tough time narrowing down my paper because the scope of LCC's operation and strategy offer many interesting issues which u could study. Even in pure economics study, there were many issues that could be studied for LCC.

    My advice is as follows:-

    1. to have a hypothesis,

    2. collect your data

    3. see whether the data collected can support your argument to challenge the hypothesis.

    Best of luck.

  4. Gang,

An article in The Star online featured a candid story about Mr Wong Teo Khoon, a MAS employee for 40 years. That guy must really have experienced just about everything that happened at MAS.

I was wandering that he'll be a real kool guy to interview and post his story on MW for all to read. I'm sure he's got lots to tell. I'm really interested in getting to know MAS' early years. And perhaps he might some 'golden' photos.

What do u guys think? B)
