  1. I think the CEO is right and is focussing on the operating performance of the company. Fuel hedging profits are not generally within the control of management but operational matters are. So just take the hedging gains as a windfall and focus on getting the business and operations right.

I would agree with u Flee on this one. I think under the current operating scenario, the results and explanations are expected. Cash position not too bad either.

Capt Nik : In the reporting, Charter services comes under "airline operation or Others"?

  2. Yes, why not, if the fares are good!

However, by the time the MH A380's arrive, I would have flown on them with other airlines already. For domestic routes, I would fly on Firefly or MASWings if it is on the ATR 72. But even then, today's Bangkok Airways crash is some food for thought. Maybe its the airport that is not safe! ;)

Flee : i think if your time is up, it does not make any difference which aircraft u fly in.. I personally opine that everyone involved in doing their job, will do so to the best of their abilities.. The rest is we just have to leave it the ONE up there.

  3. I have flown with them on the CGK/DPS/CGK sector a few times and I would give their inflight service product 5 star. Great service for such a short sector. While the crew were pleasent, with a bit of polish they could rival the best. With the new planes they can beat MH on the regional routes hands down!

I have to agree with Alan here - 4 yrs living in Indonesia - i have seen how GA has slowly been improving themselves!!!

  4. In the Star this morning, it was reported that MH has RM3.75 billion cashpile and is on the look out to purchase potential strategic airline.

    Very interesting indeed!!!

P.s. The family package deal of 2 buy economy adult tickets and get 2 kid tickets under 12 yrs FOC is brilliant!!! Just right for me.. TQ.

  5. It just makes common sense that u should deal with a dedicated Airline Charter company with solid infrastructure from the very beginning for mass movement of people so dat u don't have to worry about that part of your process chain....

Perhaps We all know why the ante decision was made!!!!! Succinct to say that results were disastrous. And the fact that the results were just as such, derived from the decision makers' questionable intention!!!!

Oh ya, well done MAS Charter. Bravo!!

  6. 1. The best seats in an aeroplane during turbulence are the ones nearest or where the CG of the aircraft is located, normally just slightly aft of the center of the wing. The reason is that there will be the least polar movement effect due to minimum leverage. It is also the area of least flex. Aeroplanes are designed with some amount of flexibility built in as a too rigid structure will induce metal fatigue faster. Just as the wings visibly flex during flight, the fuselage too flex. Aircraft with long fuselage to width ratio are the worst. Examples are the A340-600 or the DC8-62. The B777-300 is more affected by turbulence compared to the B777-200.

    2. Turbulence will be worse the lighter the aircraft is as an aircraft with lighter wing loading will be affected more, as wing loading is a subject of weight over wing area. So a fully loaded aircraft will be less affected by turbulence as compared to when it is empty.

    3. The speed of of an aircraft when it enters turbulence is reduced in proportion to its weight. Ie, a B777 with a full load will enter turbulence at a higher speed when it is fully loaded compared to when it is lightly loaded. Generally, turbulence penertration speed is midway between its MMO ( max speed ) and stall speed, which varies depending on its weight. Reducing too much speed will also reduce the controllability of the roll, pitch and yaw control devices which is why saying simply reducing speed in turbulence is not entirely correct. At high altitude, the spread of speed between maximum and minimum can be as little as 40 knots.

    4. Older airplanes such as the B737-200/300, the B747 Classics gives the best ride in turbulence. The best of the best is the DC10. Modern aircraft such as the A330/340 are the worst, with the B777 being just slightly better. These modern airplanes have very wings, giving lower wing loading than the older ones, hence are more susceptible to air disturbance.

    5. Airframe failure causing catastrophic mid air break-up has happened but are very very rare. Aeroplanes are built very very strong, and modern aircraft must be able to withstand + 2.5 to - 1.5 G to meet civil airline certification. Most aeroplane are built to withstand twice the Regulatory requirement. The B747 wing can flex 18 ft at the wingtip before onset of deformation.

    6. Turboprops rocks more than jets primarily because turboprops fly at an altitude where cloud activity are most intense.....between 10,000 to 28,000 feet. Jets normally fly higher than that altitude.

    7. A good knowledgeable pilot will be able to use and decipher the weather radar returns better than an average button pushing four striper and while all pilots will be able to avoid the most hazardous precipitation related turbulence, the better ones will be able to give their passengers a more comfortable ride.

Feel free to add or correct.

Aduh Aduh Capt, i wish i'm in position to add or correct your facts!!!! Trying to understand the physics behind your explanation is difficult enuf!!!! :help:

  7. Try that on my flight and see what happens......

He hee heee... And since I travel on FC alot, I should request the airline to put parachute underneath the seat also.. just in case the Capt decides throw someone out of the plane.. kesian da fellow.......

    :drinks:

    All in good humuor guys!!!!!

  8. Off topic

Last sunday my FY flight PEN-SZB at 1045H was cancelled. Just 20 pax scheduled to board the plane.

Luckily we were transfered to MH flight, also departing at 1045H

    Yeayyyyy

Only 20 pax!!! Wow.... Dats a disaster... FY is lucky in that they can cancel the flite and put the pax on MH flites.
