  1. Bob Lee certainly had a grandstand view of it taxying past his office in Terminal One ... expect some great shots from him later.

    KC Sim

Thanks KC, for alerting me to its arrival! I wouldn't have gotten ready for it had you not messaged me.

What a treat to see a Tristar. I just love her curves, especially that S-duct on Engine #2!

  2. Beautiful shots :clapping: from Crowne, Bob. Missed your pictures.

Thanks Fab... not exactly from Crowne. From my office! :p

The inaugural AY82 was operated by OH-LQA and parked at D42 in overcast weather. No water canon salute. I only just learnt from CAG yesterday that SIN isn't fond of water canon salutes and the only time it'd ever been done was on 17Oct07 for 9V-SKA!

  3. Good News for Penang Spotter. SIA Cargo is Coming to Penang.

    From Air Routes.net

Wow what an interesting development. So it is FINALLY happening after having been on the drawing boards for so long, but I wonder how it's going to turn out administratively as the SQ Cargo office was shut down and its staff were retrenched following SQ's pull-out in Dec09. MI then took over all functions including cargo sales.

Anyway, a 1730h arrival means you will have an opportunity to photograph it in great evening light! Good luck to all PEN spotters!

  4. Kesian [pity] la this thread. used to be a lot of activity. nowadays, thanks to bulis and lack of spotting places. plus Bob is also happily gone snapping away in Munchen... hmm...

Hey Yusoff! Wah... all the WMKP spotting locations have been 'conquered' by bulis?

Anyway I just returned to SIN permanently. Hope to get a chance to fly over to PEN for some food and spotting soon!

Heard from my PEN contacts that a CX 777-300ER went AOG at PEN recently?

  5. If Bob was here in PEN, he would have this in full clean frame. Wish you were here....

With these, I conclude my contributions for the year 2009... See you next year. Happy New Year!

Wow! Yusoff, what a great way to end the year! Great catch of that Brunei A340 and MH 744 charter! Fabulous pictures. Keep 'em coming!

Happy New Year to all of you in Penang!

  6. Sunday 29 November 2009

A sight no more. The 2nd last SQ flight out of PEN operated by 9V-SVL.

    Monday 30 November 2009

A tearful sight of a tearful farewell. SQ ground staff saying goodbye to the last flight, SQ191/30NOV09 operated by 9V-SVH, as it was pushing back. This marks the end of yet another chapter in SQ's history, after having flown to PEN for 29 years and 4 months.

And with that, I bid farewell to all the friendly spotters I have met at PEN. I will be leaving on MI351/08DEC09, and I will remember fondly the 1 year 10 months I've spent in PEN, having photographed the many exotic subjects that had visited this little airport. I shall remain active on this forum, so do keep posting photos whenever you can!
