The fact is FY failed to deliver pax to the ticketed destination, which a fare has been paid for.
That maybe the case, but they flew the pax on a MH flight at no extra cost (aside from transportation cost from KUL, that is). That must account for something. Maybe they passengers involved could forward their receipts to FY and claim for reimbursment?
-
Dear Tim Lee,
Please start with Clause 4.1 of the Conditions of Carriage, before u venture to clause 9. FY did not satisfy clause 4.1.
Point of destination can be interpreted differently. Does it mean the destination airport, or just the destination in general?

The 18-year-old plane is due to be retired in November.
Why do journos always highlight a plane's age when talking about emergencies? A well maintained old plane can still fly safely, and a brand new, not so well maintained plane can fall from the sky in a flash.
-
Oh, it's the plane that lost a chunk of skin last year. No wonder it's in the news. Otherwise, it wouldn't have been reported.

Internationally, Singapore Airlines was rated number one for overall satisfaction, with a 78 percent rating, followed by Emirates, Air New Zealand and Cathay Pacific.
hmmn...the malaysia 5star airline not in the list ar......shame..
Well, that's not good, but it's a survey of Australians...even AirAsia isn't on the list. Do they have a thing for Malaysia?

As a passenger, i would say he has done a better job than Idris Jala. A passenger is not interested in profit but more on safety and inflight service and on that point he has delivered far better than MAS.
Of course, when you have been a part of the company, you know your weaknesses and try to fix that. Unlike Idris Jala, Satar has been with Garuda since 1998.

THanks for the information, Suhaimi. Was the victim known to you?
Nah, I wasn't even born yet back then, but if you google his name, you'll find documents of parliament proceedings where Lim Kit Siang called upon the banning of Aeroflot in retaliation to the KAL 007 accident.

[OT] Speaking about KAL 007, Wikipedia lists the breakdown of the nationality of the people onboard. There was a Malaysian. Any details?
He's Siow Woon Kwang, a 23 year old graduate from Muar who's returning home after completing his studies in Electrical Engineering & Computer Science in America. Of course, back then MAS didn't fly to America.

Just watched "Marine One" on Nat Geo. Look like they're using similar heli to our Nuri to fly the US President.
Yep, the SH-3 Sea King. They're were going to replace it with the VH-71 Kestrel/AgustaWestland AW101 but President Obama cancelled it. Looks like he will have to make do with the SH-3 for a while.

The people on board this flight was very lucky that they managed to return back to their country. The passengers on board KAL 007 wasn't so lucky. But could there have been survivors on board KAL 007? Some said it's possible. The lack of bodies recovered is often pointed as one of the evidence of that fact.

Thanks for your luck. I had managed to get a photo of the bus this morning
Backyard? That word sounds off...

Definately an reporting error.
Well Wikipedia is well known for its inaccuracies, so it might be WIKIPEDIA that's wrong.

PKR reports DPM for alleged abuse of government property
By Syed Jaymal Zahiid
PENANG, Aug 17 — PKR Youth leaders today lodged a complaint against the deputy prime minister with the anti-graft body MACC for alleged abuse of government property for his personal use.
Bernama reported yesterday that Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had flown on a military helicopter to attend the Penampang Umno division meeting in Sabah after he was done opening another division party meeting in Kudat.
He was however forced to land in Tuaran due to bad weather, the news agency reported.
Pantai Jerjak PKR assemblyman Sim Tze Tzin, the person who lodged the complaint, said the news report had clearly shown Muhyiddin abusing government property for a non-governmental purpose which is tantamount to corruption.
"There was a similar case involving a top cop in Sabah where he was investigated and charged with corruption for using a police helicopter to visit his private property," Sim told The Malaysian Insider.
Based on this, he said it was imperative that the MACC launch an investigation into the report.
Sim lodged the report at the MACC headquarters here with three other PKR Youth leaders.
Why stop there, why not report to the MACC about the use of Government cars for personal use or the use of government telephones for personal use or even the use of government pen to write love letters! Sheesh, they really know how to make a small issue into a big issue. Politicians, go figure!

If they use local food products, then some one will complain. Use imported food some would also complain. How to satisfy both parties? Serve both local foods and imported foods together?

Its employees will die for it and they are all highly motivated to make it a success.
I'm not so sure about that. My friend's brother-in-law used to work as a LAME at AK. He quit because he said the atmosphere wasn't very good there, although that maybe isolated to him I'm not sure.

Why are they copying airlines in America?! Charging for addons, damn...

Want another side to the story? Dunno if true or not. Got it from an retired government official who was often flying in and out of KL on government business. The plane went down not because of a traditional hijacking but a case of air rage. The hijacker was actually the bodyguard of the Minister of Agriculture. He got into a very serious argument with the captain of the flight who refused to take off unless the bodyguard handed in his pistol he carried to the captain as it was against the rules for the bodyguard to carry the pistol while on board the plane. The bodyguard refused and a serious argument ensured ending nearly into a fight. Eventually the bodyguard was forced to give up his gun to the safe keeping of the captain by ground officials and the plane took off. During the flight the bodyguard got up from the seat and made his way to the cockpit to recover his gun and honor. What exactly happened next is not really known. But the blame was put on the Japanese Red Army to cover for the real reason which would be very embarrassing for the government.
Just what an old gentleman told me many years ago.
But that doesn't make sense. The plane was supposed to land at KL. Why did it continue on to JB?

Mobile gadgets will only entertain those who actually own those gadget. What about those who don't have one, or those who forgot to charge their gadgets before the flight and found out that their battery's drained out?

However street crimes were rampant in post-USSR Moscow. My Russian friend removed the rubber blades of his car's wipers whenever he parked - 'some a*hole might steal them', he muttered.
I've read in a book by Tony Mendez, a CIA disguise expert that that is actually common before the breakup of the USSR, and that if you want to know which car belongs to the KGB, you should look at the car with a wiper blade fixed to it!

What about Canada?
Speaking of which, why don't MAS relaunch flight to Canada?
Besides the codeshare with Canadian Airlines, did MAS fly to Canada before? I can hardly remember those old routes. I've read that they once flew to Mexico City and Hawaii, but I always thought the service to Vancouver was flown by Canadian Airlines

Obviously. Who wants to spend almost an entire day on a bus that's driven at ludicrous speed when you can fly and spend more time at your destination doing the things you want to do. And it's less tiring to go by air...

'In this case, we were lucky that the failure occurred on the ground,' he told national broadcaster ABC. 'The release of the wheel assembly in-flight could have seen a loss of aircraft.'
Can anyone explain to me how the loss of a nosewheel can lead to loss of the aircraft?

Does anybody have any pictures of Concorde in Subang? I remember seeing a picture of an Air France Concorde at KL Sentral but I just can't remember which area it was. I saw a pic of a BA Concorde in Subang on a website, but I've lost the URL!

What's the point? Why aren't personal items allowed to be placed in the seat pocket? Isn't that the purpose of the seat pocket?
