  1.

Rob Bradford, managing director of customer solutions at United, called Carroll Wednesday to apologize for the foul-up and to ask if the carrier could use the video internally to help change its culture.

"It could be used to improve the way passengers are treated around the world," Carroll said.

    Well, I hope that's a sincere statement...

  2. Maybe they'll have to wetlease 747s or 777s if that happens. Do MH have any spares at this moment?

LX seems to have an Airbus-only fleet and they are gonna get screwed big time...

I'm sure it'll cost them a bundle! Unless they can work out something with MH, which I doubt. Last time anything like this, back in the 70's I believe with the DC-10, it was one of the contributing factor to the death of the Laker Skytrain.

  3. That's suicide! How many airlines will be affected? What about those whose fleets consists of ONLY long-range Airbuses? (D7 comes to mind). And what's this about a Northwest & TAM incident? Why didn't they take action before the AF crash? They could have done something to avoid the crash, but no, people have to die first before any action must be taken....

  4. Why did they change their branding from everything golden to what we have now? I can still remember eagerly reading their in flight mag Wings of Gold that my dad took from the plane, which later became the rather generic-sounding Going Places. The Gold theme have a certain class to it.

  5. website says

Due to overwhelming response from our No Admin Fee promotion,

you’ll notice that our site is a little slower than usual.

We assure you that we are doing all we can to speed things up

and thank you in advance for your patience.

Please try mobile.airasia.com as an alternative for booking.

Whether or not this is a cover up i don't quite know hehe.

No admin fees caused their entire system to overload? Damn...they should have thought about it before...

  6. My boss wanted to book a ticket for a flight tomorrow morning to KBR, and 1st he tried going thru AK website. He couldn't get through to booking, so he thought the Internet system in the office got problem and sent me to KL Sentral to buy it. But when I reach there, the AirAsia counter was swamped with people, and there's a sign saying their systems are down. Never mind, I tried Firefly. They also said their system was down. Fortunately their call center can take the booking, otherwise one of the staff couldn't make the meeting scheduled tomorrow. What's going on eh?

  7. Boring? It is relative. NFL is fun if you know the rules. A million times more exciting than cricket. As for the timing, remember the US is on the other side of the world.

Maybe D7 should sponsor some NFL broadcast here.

Well, I knew the rules from playing Madden NFL. Don't ask why I play the game when I think American Football is boring. I just play... :D

But check out today's Malay Mail. Already there are grumbling noises from the national sport teams on the relevence of D7's sponsorship of the Raiders. Why not sponsor Malaysian teams, they asked.

  8. I personally still see QF as a very safe carrier. It had some incidents but it has never had any accident with fatality before. QF has got to be one of the safest airlines in the world.

It's a myth! QF never lost a JET aircraft, but go back in history to the old days of the early planes, and then you'll find that they've had fatal accidents before.

  9. But wasn't MAS reporting huge losses on the KUL/LHR route a while ago ? Not really sure how are they doing now. Only know that when MAS were making money in the last few quarters, a huge chunk of the profit came from domestic routes. International routes aren't really profitable for MAS :pardon:

Shouldn't that be the other way around? Interntational routes covering for the losses of domestic routes? At least, that's what I've always assumed.

  10. The thread starter is absolutely right about the names of the MH 744.

The 9M-MH* series -400 birds were GE powered. MH got rid of them by late 90s (non-Combis) and the two Combis were sold to Boeing early 2003, IIRC. The names of the GE powered are as listed at the start of this thread. Subsequently the names of KL, Penang, Melaka and Alor Setar were transferred to the PW powered 744 which MAS took delivery after they got rid of the GE powered birds.

To make the matter more confusing MH's sole 743 was originally named "Kota Kinabalu" and the 2x 742 had some other city names. Again, the names were reshuffled as a result of the retrenchment of the GE powered 744. The 2x 742 became Kota Kinabalu and Kuching. If you search the photo database (A.net or JP.net), it will reveal all the history.

Naturally, it has to be "Kuala Lumpur" first, when MH received their first 744. Now the last pax 744 (9M-MPQ) is named as Kuala Lumpur. However, we have yet to see any city names on the 2x new 744F to date. May be MH is getting sick of the game of naming their aircraft. ;)

Why did they replace the GE planes with PW planes? Can't they just change the engines, rather than the planes?
