Nice shot, Ian!
Purpose of visit: Crown Prince Naruhito travelled to Tonga via Sydney to attend the coronation ceremony of King George Tupou V.
There was a brief stop-work when the 2 jumbos taxied pass our office building to the GA apron for reception.

Hi everyone,
2 pics to share with you. Taken some time ago in April.
Also @ YSSY, but from the departure hall right before Australian Customs (near SYD duty free shop).
Cheers,
Tony

Quote "About this video" section:
...the pilot saw a car on the track, right in front of the plane, and a couple of people running from it, one to the left and one to the right...
Official cause of the accident at the moment: misunderstanding between control tower and the technical crew on the track.
Unquote.

23-24 Feb ey...
I'm in Singapore!!

KC,
Thanks for your thorough explanation.
Digging a bit deeper, does that mean an open skies agreement is technically non-effective until the routes are liberalised?
-
it's easy to become popular hub..become a no-frill airport maa...
convert all aspect to LCCT concept, cheaper tax, attract pax..
or give 'rasuah' to world's major airliners, to come to KUL..
I don't know much about the pax side of the MH business. But on the "other" side, they are likely to offer deals so good you wouldn't turn down and then later ask for more more and more - without service improvement.
-
Well, in a sense, it's good to know that they are prepared to disseminate information in a structured manner when there comes an emergency. But then again, rather disturbing to have it online when there isn't a crisis. As what Rozhan said, it's like telling the public to "sit tight and watch out".

Hi Tony, previous announcements indicated that the SIN-KUL route would only be partially liberalised with the LCCs of each country allowed a total of just two daily services.
Singapore has indicated that Tiger Airways and Jetstar Asia Airways will each be permitted to operate one daily service each.
From the Malaysian side, AirAsia seems to be the only operator and will consequently get two daily services.
I am somewhat confused by your post . . . because if the sector is to be opened up tomorrow (1 Jan 2008), it would be no use announcing it today. No airline could logically launch services at such short notice and even if they could, such services could not be adequately marketed.
Further confusion from your use of the word "deliberalised". The route is currently very regulated and is right now in the process of being liberalised. When you say "deliberalised", are you hearing news that the previous plans to liberalise the route has been reversed and will again be regulated?
KC Sim
Thanks KC.
What you said was exactly what confuses the heaven out of me!
I was told of an "open skies in malaysia" and then the KULSIN sector being "deliberalised" tomorrow. I asked if he was sure, he said "I'm quite sure". <_ interestingly i haven heard of anything from the news mwings or airline itself. still remember last words read on open skies agreement was that mas needed to>speed up the process to gain momentum for it.
Feeling much more relieved with your reassurance. Now I can enjoy my new year!
Happy new year and best wishes in 2008!!

Got an update today, or might well be a rumour, that the open skies agreement is effective 1st Jan 2008 (i.e. tomorrow) and KUL/SIN sector will be deliberalised. Anyone else got the same news or was I hearing things?

lightbulb = the 3rd person in a group of 3 consisting a couple... say, for example only, you go out with your friend and his gf, you're the lightbulb. makes sense?
-
pardon for my ignorance , but i cannot understand the row 34 thing ...anyone can tell me ??Think "lightbulb" sitting in between the couple...
Thanks for the youtube links, Naim! Happy New Year~

AK should remain in LCCT - consider the transitting passengers having to travel all the way from KUL to SZB just to catch a connecting flight to their final destinations.
As for traffic congestion and noise issue, it has always been around for as long as I've lived in the area.

Bought a return fare from SYD recently. Very happy to be quoted a fix price, tax and charges inclusive, rather than "plus plus" - which means having to do maths to find the best deal.
-
Add Qantas to the list.
Merry Xmas!

Great stuff guys thanks for all the pictures. I was watching CNN and Richard Quest was onboard the maiden flight and he was saying that Airbus needs to sell 420 A380's just to get even with the losses, but currently their orders are just under 200. How many of you guys think airbus are going to sell another 220 380's?Prashant,
Just a matter of time. The more A380s in commercial services, the higher chance for it to prove its suitability and reliability in return for more sales.

Ladies and gents, here are the pics I promised. Please bear with the poor quality compared to KC and Andrew's shots. Hehe. DSLR not in the shed yet ma~
Snap snap whilst having breakfast at Krispy Kreme. Weather was BAAAADD.
On the way back to office.
And then business as usual for me whilst my boss went to the breakfast and tour onboard the mammoth.
Around 12pm, she was towed from the GA apron (near end of Rwy 25) to the pax terminal for preparation for the flight back to Singapore as SQ380. ETD was 4pm at that stage. Dark clouds made way for sunshine, giving us good light to watch her strolling past our windows.
Believe that is a Toll tow tug.
Full length...
Look how small the AFP patrol car is next to her!!
Almost gone...
A380 tailfin with Sydney's ATC tower.
Was told the SQ380 has delayed its departure from 4pm to 5.30pm due to incoming electrical storms from the west. There was heavy downpour until 5.40pm and then we were told she's "ready to go".
It wasn't until 6.05pm that we saw her moving down Taxiway Alpha for departure to SIN. Almost nil light.
Rotation point was beyond the line of sight from my office, about 3/4 down Rwy34L, so nothing captured in my camera.
Plenty of chance to catch her again as SQ219 SINSYD and SQ220 SYDSIN beginning Sunday October 28th.
Hope you've enjoyed the pics~

There seem to be some tour of the plane organised by SIA.Gala Dinner on the night of 25th. Executive breakfast on the morning of 26th (today).
My breakfast for today, Krispy Kreme. Standby for pics! (Now off to work)....

SQ380 departed at 08:16 this morning to Sydney. It will do a low level flypast over Sydney harbour later in the afternoon. Arriving sydney, it will park at a remote stand - visible from public areas, and be lit for all to see from sundown till sunrise on Friday. I am sure KC will snap snap lots of pictures and share with us soon :drinks:Low level flypast unlikely at this stage. Weather isn't too promising.
The remote stand I suspect would be the GA apron (tends have been erected near the fences, maybe for VIPs). If so, I might try get a photo or two from Krispy Kreme tmrw morning.
Nevertheless, KC will surely snap plenty of pics for us to drool over with.
Earlier this week, SQ chartered a freighter to bring in seats onboard the A380 for display (and for invited guests to try) in the hangar near where the A380 will be parked.

welcome to MW, Eric.
yes, MH used to operate the 772 on MH140/SYD/KUL. and IIRC the equipment change was due to the recent routing of SYD/BNE/KUL iso direct SYDKUL. picking up (and delivering) more pax and freight from BNE now.
back to topic:
Azuddin,
I'd go for the SQ's 77W.
