  1. Well, someone HAS to sponsor a newcomer into the alliance :D

But I hope you're right. I'd love to see QF back in KUL.

This industry is something like playing chess; it's the strategy that prevails. QF with MH should not be a surprise , considering QF provided significant assistance to MH in the 70's , furthermore DJ - SQ links was also anticipated , considering the shareholding of VS . QF does not have other alternatives as TG is aligned to Star n hv strong links to SK & LH. Whereas GA has always have that "KL" connection , so does VN with AF . CX should be happy as now there's another partner closeby.

In the end , it's also sad to c if MH - KL ties b broken :sorry:

As a Malaysian ; it would b interesting to c will the IB - BA parent company b buying any stake in MH. or rather will our Government allow such ?

  2. Agree. MH is similar to Northwest Airlines (now DL), they are known to use their aircraft till end of life to maximise the return then sold off. For NW's case, right to desert.

787 is sold out for next decade, B77W line is sold out till 2015-ish at earliest, A350 won't fly till 2014 (flight testing, certification...etc will take some time). MH will, like Ruiz said, left with antique B772 for intercontinental flight.

There's still hope , swapping of delivery slots or purchasing earlier delivery may be considered, but costly.

  3. Underneath MH J seat, there's some space where you can extend/raise the seat behind it to become a fully flat, although quite tight. I wonder if MH removed a row out of J cabin, there would be more space for the seats to become fully flat.

Removing a row in Business/ Club is A GOOD idea worth looking into ; and maybe another row out in EYCL as well.

  4. Question may then arise as to how many of those who can afford to travel F and J regularly will be able to spare enough free time to join in all these PR merrymaking ?! :p

The very least is that they have been invited and the invitation itself is good enough to give a good impression in winning and keeping the hearts of regulars!

Let's hope they take note and look forward for a bigger celebration for the A380 next year!

  5. Dear, oh dear, after the long-awaited build-up, the product is revealed officially.

All I can say for Brisbane is "two steps back and only one step forward".

Up to approximately the middle of last year, we had the B772 serving us seven days a week. This plane had adequate amenities in C, particularly the seat pitch and angle of the lie-flat seats at approximately 172 degrees.

Then in an attempt to remove the tag-on arrangement with Sydney, it reverted to just five days a week, with an ancient A330. It was anticipated this replacement would be better than previous equipment, but I guess that's relative to which standard they're comparing to.

The seat pitch for the new A333 looks very cramped indeed, I think it would be difficult to step around a sleeping passenger if you were seated in the window seat. You'd need to "take one giant step for mankind" to step over the extended seat and into the aisle, when previously, you could walk around, albeit sideways and avoid bumping and waking your fellow passenger. Also, I hear the angle of the lie-flat is even raked even more sharply than previous, and may be 10 degrees or more off horizontal. There were already complaints that the previous 744 and 772 lie-flats weren't horizontal enough and the sliding feeling was somewhat disconcerting - well, definitely don't wear anything slinky or you'd be playing slippery slide all evening.

With the other Malaysian rival flying from Coolangatta with lie-flat seats in "premium economy" even though they are supposedly a low-cost airline, MH had a real chance to introduce a game-changer and up the ante. Particularly if it wants to tout itself as a full-service five-star airline. Wanting to be first in Asia, well, seat comfort is so very vital to the quality of sleep, one of the most important factors of how premium passengers feel when they arrive at their destination and be productive. CX for example have set an ambitious fleet refurbishment, and whatever you might say about herringbone style lie-flats, they do offer a generous space and privacy for sleep time. Particularly when they are coupled with full-sized pillows, crisp cotton sheets and a quilt, it does feel moreso like your regular bed would. Brisbane to KL is an 8.5 hour flight overnight, so sleep quality is very important, a regional jet like this really is for shorter-haul missions.

I guess for now, MH means "menyelaraskan harapan" - get ready to adjust your expectations...

Well Said ! Based on the images seen ... these new A330s should b limited to just 5 hours of DAYFLIGHTS only, and it's the business class that has dragged them down . Somehow the MH 772s n 744s Business class looks more spacious , even tho' their amenities may not be as good as others.

No MW media team onboard as well? Btw, nice color combination for Business seat.

I always feel that ALL of their premium frequent travelers ( esp. Enrich Platinum , Gold and if available Silver) should be invited for such event rather than MH staff and a separate walkabout tour for media. After all it's all about wining customers and customer loyalty.

If it's too much , those that traveled on First and Business regularly.

  6. Once the ECE(East Coast Expressway-Lebuhraya Pantai Timur) is completed, the pax numbers will evaporate, just look what happen to Kuantan after the ECE was opened.

High speed rail to the east coast will be cost prohibitive.Better the project be on the west coast.

Unlike the West Coast; the "evaporation" of air travelers to KBR may not be that high as even the ECE is extended to KBR , the 600+ KM @ rate of our local speed limit of 110KM/h ( not forgetting 80 -90km/h along the scenic Karak leg) may still take around 5 1/2 - 6 hours to get to KBR. JHB , KUA and IPH faces such "evaporation" of air travelers coz' it takes not more than 3 , 2 1/2 and 2 hours respectively to these places which are less thn time taken to get to SZB / KUL, Check in and fly ..etc.

It would be interesting to c in context of TGG .

Do agree that at this moment it is not feasible on east coast ... not yet.

  7. The problem with KBR is that its terminal is not as big as TGG is, and its runway needs to be extended to accommodate bigger a/cs. That being said, I'd like to see if someone would fly to more destinations from KBR.

That reflects the s******* of the decision makers ,... when they know very well KBR has the numbers in terms of passenger growth and revenue and yet TGG was expended for some p****** reasons!

:pardon: Politicians are hub crazy but have zero knowledge on airline operations. :good:

Not all of them ; but some are.

  8. Reading this aim gives me a good laugh and does not require rocket scientist to make them one :-)

All they need is good financial support to ...

1 Ensure that the fares remains as attractive as others.

2 Products should be better thn others , esp. the likes of EK/SQ/CX...etc with progressive improvements to stay ahead. They hv to think beyond the norm. Say can ...36' EYCL pitch across the fleet? or individual fridge in Business and First long haul ? or perhaps 3D entertainment system ?

3 Aircraft consistently new. Y 5 and not 3 years average fleet ? once all 738 arrived, start replacing with ....

4 be generous interms of meals, amenities and comfort for passengers and not forgetting good enrich programme.

and Government and the "owner's" support is also essential ... the very least is to enforce it's executives, associates and ( foreign and local) consultants to travel on MH premier cabins and not limited to certain higher level only. Similar arrangements are done in other countries.

On another note; transferring some routes to FY sounds good as long as similar products are offered. I.e. Business Class, FQTV , meals... should b at least like SQ-MI and QF-JQ , only better service of course!

  9. Now what all of want to c is the interior.... n how good or bad r the products? The golden question here is will the Business Class b far superior than existing MH777s or perhaps better than SQ ? Could the EYCL maintained its 34' or has it improved to 36' or narrowed to 32' ? Will the AVOD comes with "live" TV and Cameras n will it have greater than 500 selections like EK?.......these r the things that matters.

  10. Any airports developmnents regardless of an expansion or new ; Feasibility study must be made in terms of anticipated numbers and traffic. None of us would want to waste our "Rakyat" money for some big white elephant that's under utilise.

I strongly support only if the numbers are there. One must remember it's not cheap to built an airport and such facility is not a Bus Shed / STOL operations.

  11. I don't think we should judge him and made comments about what he has done while he was in position, not to say i'm bias for being a Sarawakian, firstly he was happily working in Shell before going into MAS by the request of the then PM.

Let's not forget, he was "pressured" into saving the airline which was at that time about to collapse (due to the lack of vocab), if you were in his position, what would you have done? You have a "direct pressure" from the PM and facing fierce competition from the "red corner" AND your national pride is at stake? All the while being battered by high fuel prices...did we all forget how difficult time was then?

Maybe "not all" that he has done has been the right decisions, but he did what he had to do...and saved what little was left of our beloved airline...God forbid MH should sink and AK suddenly becomes the national airline of Malaysia...the point is, what he has done was a a decision he HAD to make there and then, by hook or by crook...so let's us not judge him so harshly...

    Just my 2 cents...cheers!

Noted. However, as we r talking about Service Products n "Him": A fine example was that during his his era that those LCC Type Leased 738s with the infamous LCC Economy Seats being sold as Business Class. Having had two such experiences b4 the "Change", and the fact that "him" being up there and incharge, SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE was done to the Frequent n Premium Travellers! No offence intended, though Profit is what any airline wants , the fact remains an airline is still a Service industry and Customer Satisfaction should always come first and should never be compromised!. Particularly when one is considered a 5 Star.

  12. KK Lee ... i think MH has already been losing customers every single year since IJ came in with his 'genius plan' .. he has since left, another guy using MH as a stepping stone to greater success. He managed to sell everything MH owned so he could show a profit, then left before MH started announcing losses again.

yet another prediction by the keyboard warriors comes true !! :)

500% AGREED! , But there r some signs of improvements from Inflight Service ( Particularly Food, FQTV programme and Schedules).

Example, Meal portions in EYCL has increased a bit , GCCL meals have improved and more enrich redemption offers compared to his era.

The scary part here is that he's in charge of the Government Transformation and NKRA of Malaysia. Only time will tell......

  13. FY should consider the possibility of supplementing ATR72 with some ATR42s as well. This is particularly for developing "thinner" routes from PEN hub and even later establish another one in JHB perhaps.

Those baby Brazilian EMB's may also be another option.

After all, " A community Airline " should be connecting secondary towns such as PEN - KBR / TGG, JHB - TGG / KBR , IPH - JHB / KBR...etc.
