Its the size of the -200, but with the power of the -400. Occasionally to relieve boredom, we set full power on take off and it hit the skies at almost 6000fpm climb rate, much to the amazement of ATC. A real tonic for speedfreaks. However, it was not as flexible on approach as the flap extension speeds were lower than the B734, so some care needs to be taken when charging dwn on a hi-speed approach.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

I think the -500 was a bit underpowered as it was powered by the 18.5k engines. The 400 and 300F were powered by the 22k engines. I remember doing the MH 6010/6011 newspaper run, heavy to KCH, half full to BKI then empty going back to SZB. The empty -300F was a rocket.

About the flap limit for the -500, if I'm not mistaken Flaps 1 and 5 limit was 230 kts unlike the -400 which goes to 250 kts.

As a frequent business traveller, I do agree with the 735 ..... It's really the favourite. Sadly MH could have used them to open up new medium routes with it . ... Well it did to DVO , CEB.... Or even have an all business class flight .

  2. Correct, it is not PAS fault but because PAS is an opposition party, the fed govt would be more selective to pour money for development. Everyone knows that TGG is less busier than KBR, however, although seasonal the airport was built to an international standard to cater for widebody ops, If only TGG is KBR, I think in no time we could see stream of international carriers or at least regional operators flying in and out of KBR.

    :hi:

    Reflects the Federal Government's thinking.

  3. FY JETS should take over some low yield routes from KUL as originally intended . SZB must remain as prop ops ... There must b consistency here in terms of policies ..... No more yoyo n indecisive decisions if the government is truly serious in developing the nation (n of course to win the ....)

Even some off peak flights can b operated by FY instead of MH ... Where virtually no demand for premium cabins. Even so , premium economy could b offered on FY if need b .

  4. problem with MH is they don't hv the right size of aircraft with comparable amenities to regularly fly to key European cities . The 300 sweater T7s r too big n dated , A380 is huge & A330s don't hv the range.

Cost is a major concern n to fly just 3 times / wk is not good enough . ... They need at least one daily services ... With 2 flights a day wud b the minum to attract the front end business travelers. Plus .... Stop acting like a typical Malaysian GLC !

They need to act fast to ensure their survival n b relevent to 1world. ..... Before being booted out as the unwanted.

  5. MH planning to go all Airbus fleet? (except Boeing 738 of course).......

I hate this. Somehow, I noticed my rides on Boeings are more comfortable thn the Airbuses.

Have flown MH 380 Business Class; though the amenities are good but the ambience comfort within the cabins of the tripple 7s and the Queen still prevails .

Having seen the Dreamliner. It is clear that Boeing do consider the comfort rather thn Size.

The truth is Size does matters to some , but it's how you "do" it makes it more enjoyable.

  6. Malaysian Airline to Double Asia Pacific Destinations[/

The carrier may fly to 25 cities in countries including China, Japan and India by 2015, compared with 13 regional destinations now, Chairman Md Nor Yusof said in an interview yesterday in Subang, near Kuala Lumpur where the carrier is based. Flights on some existing routes will also be increased by as much as 50 percent, he said.

If so, for a start take back HND slots ,restart FUK/NGO/KHH/PUS/...etc . N not forgetting bring back BKI hub!

  7. VFR day today, Visibility unlimited. PR coup missed, should have done a 2,000ft flight from Batu Arang, fly above KL City, cross PJ, then a flypast over SZB before ending the flight at KLIA.

Advsie the public in advance, those with the best picture of the aircraft gets one free seat during the proving flight.

    Rugi.

Reflects the lack of innovation and creativity. In fact , could have carried some premium regulars on the ferry flight as form of promotion and winning back customers.

  8. 1 London and Paris routes on AirAsia X cancelled. MH gets to fill up its planes with AirAsia X passengers. Normal load factor for MH is around 70-75%. So they can now fill those empty seats...

2 Management has been strengthened - they brought in some people from AirAsia as well as outside people. This is supposed to improve MH's management expertise. But if politicians continue to meddle, put God in also useless!

3 Firefly jet - a wasteful and loss making venture into an East Malaysian market that is too small to sustain long term. Promo fares can never be sustained for the long term. So what happens when Firefly have to raise the fares? More losses? Cancelling the jet services helped to step losses.

4 Capacity cuts - adjust MAS capacity more in line with demand. Loss making routes are not good for MAS' financial health. No point flying routes for prestige only.

5 MRO - Not sure if AirAsia has sent its planes for maintenance at MAS' MRO facilities yet. But if they do, MAS can ensure that these facilities are fully utilised. MRO is profitable for MAS.

Anyway, it seems a bit amusing to me that many say that AirAsia benefits with the share swap. Now all the clever analysts also say that AirAsia will benefit from not having the share swap. Conversely, it also means that the share swap is bad for MAS and no share swap is also bad for MAS.

I am sure that we haven't heard the last of this. Next move, some sort of bailout for MAS?

1 AT WHAT FARE? THE SEATS MAY BE FILLED BUT NO POINT IF D7 PAYS BELOW THE YIELD? do they?

2 WHAT KIND OF MANAGEMENT? HND IS A FINE EXAMPLE BEING WASTED!, HIGH YIELD MIDDLE EAST PULLOUT WAS ANOTHER WHEN THERE EASY MARKET FOR PREMIUM CABINS! MH PREVIOUSLY FAILED B'COZ SUBSTANDARD PRODUCTS PLYING THESE ROUTES! LOTS OF OPPORTUNITIES MISSED TO MAXIMISE MH RETURNS.

3 FY JETS OF COURSE DON'T MAKE MONEY IN FIRST 9 MONTHS OF OPERATIONS! NO AIRLINES DOES THAT ! EVEN AK HAD A YEAR TO BREAK EVEN! NOT A GOOD ARGUMENT!

4 PRESTIGE ROUTES? U MEAN KUL-CPT-EZE? I think there's good opportunities if rightly managed. . FYI , IT'S THE ONLY CONNECTION TO ARGENTINA FROM SOUTH AFRICA AND ASEAN? GOOD EXAMPLE SQ MANAGES GRU DECENTLY WELL OR FOR THAT MATTER HOW COULD EK/QR Manages EZE?

5 U don't need to swap share in order to get MRO Contracts from MH Engineering. If that's the case might aswell share swap with all airlines!

Please look at both ends and think deeper .
