  1. for single traveller, which is the better - single or throne seat?

Singles that have the console on the window side - have a bit more open space for the feet to sleep sideways. Big advantage over the thrones. People generally think the thrones are the best and all - but they're terrible for sleeping in, and the double consoles hem you in width wise. Very quickly fell out of love with those early on.

  2. OT: I'm rather surprised MO1 didn't manage to wrangle a visa-free deal after his momentous visit to the Middle Kingdom. Doesn't seem unreasonable given how Malaysia already has some form of visa-free scheme for the Chinese.

As am I. With all those deals, cooperation and triple happiness and long life and many grandchildren wishes etc (if you've ever been to a Chinese government banquet you'll know what I'm talking about) - i'm surprised we didn't get that in return.

  3. Well, Malaysian tour groups have been allowed access to Jerusalem to visit Christian sites as well as the Al-Aqsa/dome of the rock compound when they cross over from the Jordanian border. This has been going on for a long time now. I think a special permit has to be applied for.. maybe someone here knows a bit more about this issue..

My dad went last year on a pilgrimage. Wasn't terribly hard to apply for, according to him.

I've seen Israel from across the Dead Sea. My Jordanian tour guide asked if i wanted to make an impromptu visit into Jerusalem - without a visa. I explained about being Malaysian and all. His deadpan response - "so? you wouldn't be the first" Being a bit chicken i said no. In hindsight, I should have. (Didn't ask how he planned to achieve it though)

I did enter Paraguay once with a visa fee of 12 empanadas (call it a samosa or curry puff). Maybe that was the modus operandi for my Jordanian guide. :)

  4.

Not sure for the full list but MTD will be flying soon as retrofitting is nearly completed.

For seat configuration, you can try to refer this but bear in mind that this config doesnt include with Y+

Tango delta returned to service this morning :) that leaves only Echo foxtrot Kilo to go :)

  5. I asked an IFS on what the actual toilet allocation system on the 333.

For now, yes - it is confusing.

Going forwards, once Y+ is officially launched, both toilets at the back will be both J but Y+ will also have access to them. Y- will not.

But it is a compromise given the still odd layout and having to deal with curtains and the Y+ crowd etc as one moves through cabins.

(So apart from extra inches added to pitch, Y+ pax may be able to luxuriate in J toilet amenities).

Definitely confusing ! Wake up about an hour before landing on a MH88/149/123 or similar - and right now there's a chance you don't get to brush your teeth thanks to the queues.

  6.

If I am not mistaken (based on my previous experience), there are 2. 1 at the front and 1 at the back of the cabin.

One in front, two at the back of the J cabin which is somewhat shared

It's an IFS call usually. The two at the back of the J cabin, depending on the load are assigned like this:

The port one is usually a Y lav.

The starboard one is designated a J lav if the J load is heavy, Y if J is light. Doesn't stop J pax from using either of the 2 if they so wish.

You'll know by the amenities they put inside.

  7. Hi... Does anyone here know about whether MH184/5 KUL-CMB still going to operate through March/April next year? It's not showing on MH's website but is there on Wego. However, it's up there on MH website for current month travel. Thank you

Yes. It is loaded in GDS till EOS. The reason why you may not be finding it is because, as I recall, it only runs 3 days a week ex CMB - days 2/4/7 or something like that.

  8. Saw two A333 MH in Melbourne today parked next to each other. Any idea what happen to them? Rescue flight? Extra flight ?

MTG went AOG in MEL after operating 129 yesterday and could not operate the return 128. MTM operated 149 yesterday, and was turned around this morning and utilised as 128D.

Whatever it was wrong with MTG was rectified and it operated 148 as planned (149/148 has a long ground time in MEL)

    Good thinking.

  9. Was on OD2106 last night, they've sent me notification regarding flight retiming 3 days before. So flight retiming is normal for OD these days I guess

3 days ok la. My loved ones email was sent 2 1/2 hours before. In the end - my own MH179 ended up also 90 mins delayed so lucky had enough of a connection time in CMB

  10.

As of today, the flight departs early to do KUL PER KUL rotation. Hopefully your flight won't be delayed lah......

fingers crossed! I'm going on the MH179 - it's my family member that's on OD185. We both then connect to DOH on QR but that's at 0325 the next morning, so still a small buffer to make the connex.
