  1. Bro, u n i same boat lah, its really sad to spot planes in kch when there's nothing new to spot... thats why we only go spot when we know something is coming in like CZ, Capt Choice Tour, Vim Airlines, and many other un-scheduled/chartered flights... wished it was on a scheduled basis, so we can always see them come every now and then.. but in kch, its a game of hide and seek with these rare international routes... Yeah.. Bki's upgrade is fair enough because they have those kind of traffic, ours??? I don't know why they upgrade it to such state with no improvement in flight traffic what more to say other airlines... Ministry of Tourism is sleeping i reckon... <_>So sad....btw whats VIM...excuse my ignorance...got pic???appriciate it alot.TQ

    Va..va..its Russian...I C...got meh?never see leh...my bro studies in Russia...wonder if he could get a direct flight from Moscow??HAHAHAHAHAH!!

  2. So boring yesterday, so went to airpot and did some snap snap ... nothing special, just 734

Is it me or is it really depressing...why la KCH so little international flights...just saw that BKI has travellator and a really nice terminal...KCH pula....aduh...alang-alang je...so sad.if you ask me...gate A-3 should be double in size and gate 7,8,9 should have a 1 directional travellator on the 3rd floor after immigration for departure, while another 1 directional travellator on the lower floor to ease passengers arriving from gate 8 and 9 on their way to the arrival hall. Back in the 90's...i would wait for the arrival of Dragonair, RBA and MAS DC10 to Seoul and Narita. There was even a B734 flying between KCH to Manila and onwards to Taipei. Then The KCH-KUL-Frankfurt,KCH-Perth and SYD-KCH.I was even on the SYD-KCH flight. We arrived like 3.30 in the morning. At Sydney airport, i was told that 56 pax were disembarking in KCH.The airport stayed opened for us!!Ahhh....those were the days...kesian la KCH...what can we do to entice more airlines to fly into KCH???in 2000 when SIA ceased their SIN-KCH vv, I wrote to Silkair, telling them to fly into KCH.their reply was "due to political reasons" they are unable to do so???And now they fly daily to KCH...go figure...I even wrote to HK Express and Virgin Blue,HK Express never reply, DJ said "check their website for new routes" and wish me all the best in my studies...HELP!!Im depress!Crazy kan??Thank god for RBA and Batavia and Silk or else...Kuching International Airport should change into "KUCHING SEMI-INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT".Happy for org Sabah bah...tapi....org SARAWAK dianak-tiri kan la!

  3. SAEGA Air

There is another, a one plane operation (Do228) operating from BKI, which name escapes me for now

SAEAGA AIRLINES was the brainchild of Tan Sri Ting Phek King. It was a collaboration between Ekran Berhad (went bankrupt since),State Govt of Sabah and Sarawak. I was actually there at the hangar during its launch in Kuching.Where Lord White Hair, our beloved CM came and "menepung tawa" (blessing of) the 3 planes. The hangar is now Hornbill Skyway's. They operated 1 deHavilland Dash 8-200, 1 deHavilland Dash 8-300 and a CRJ 200.They were planning to fly to the larger BIMP-EAGA region. I had the program book but I think my dad threw it away!!They operated a daily BTU-KUL on the CRJ 200. MYY-MZU-BKI on the Dash8-300 and KCH-SBU-BTL on the Dash8-200.Just a Trivia-in the short while it flew...the cabin crew went through 2 uniform changes.1st was a Pink Blazer with White Buttondown Shirt,Black skirt and Polka dot scarf then a purple hue broad neck kebaya.(like those on SIA).Kinda sad it ceased operation...would be fun to see how far it would have gone...sad :(

  4. It always puzzle me as to why the seat numbering for narrow body aircrafts of 3 x 3 seating configuration begins 5A, 5B, 5C and 5D, 5E, 5F but when you board a wide bodied aircarft of 2 x 4 x 2 seating configuration, the number of A,B,C becomes only 5A, 5C leaving our the 5B.

    Can someone please provide explanation?

    DavidC

Here is what I think. On a narrowbody "A" is window and C is "aisle". So if you board, say a Fokker 50, they skip B so that you know you get to choose A for Window and C for aisle.Same goes for Airbus 330, seats are arranged with A then C.I think it is universally known that A is when you get the Window and C the aisle while B means you are the meat patty between the bun.Just don't quote me...hehehe! If you check MAS seatplans. Even in C class of the B734 seats are numbered 1A and C skipping B because B does not exsist. You ould compare MAS 777 and SIA 777, MH has the 2X5X2 hance the 11 A,C- D,E,F,G,H-J,K while SQ in their 3X3X3. Numbers their seats as ABC-DEG-HJK. I guess it doesn't matter that they skip F beacuse it is the middle seat while H is still the aisle regardless of the configuration.Hope it answer your question.

  5. Kenneth, you are right, I flew KCH-BKI earlier this year and I was only served a bun! The presentation was the pasar malam standard. Look at the seal, makes me laugh!

If the snackbox is served on this sector, it will be an upgrade!

Back when MAS flies Fokker 50 under MAS not MASwings, I took a KCH-BTU-BKI flight. KCH-BTU was just a cup of juice and the flight was 1 hour. On the next sector, 1hour and 15 mins, we were served 2 pieces of sandwiches. Both with roasted chicken breast with lecttuce and mayo to keep it moist. Not bad coz they offer coffee/tea and juice. On the direct KCH-BKI you will get a "golf ball sized" crossaint or bun with chicken ham filling with tomatoes and mayo.Try MASwings, on their BTU-BKI sector, they'll five you a nice blue/green MASwings box with Milo,Sandwich(1 chicken and 1 eggfilling i think) and Cadbury Bytes.I love the box...really nice...square,blue all over with green "daun midin" logo across the box.Sorry,no pic.

  6. Hi,Kenneth here. If you read one of the Chinese Newspaper during the launch of Kuching's Kenyalang Interchange. There was a model of Mukah's airport. It has the same aerofoil roof and the "drop-off" and "pick-up" area has 3 arches with glass which allows sunlight to shine thru.No joke, that airport, well the model at least, features 3 aerobridges. No joke! Kinda nice looking. But i think lahad datu and sandakan need their new terminal asap! BTW, only the runway is B747 capable, thats because the Sarawak Regional Corridor in somewhere Mukah up to Bintulu.Maybe for Cargo/Frighter services.ie fertilizer,aliminium...etc???
