  1. *SOB* BKI is so pretty! And HUGE! Will fly into BKI on the 22 Aug cant wait! The check-in island is big, unlike KCH row A and B share one island C and D another...BKI Island B is the whole island...bothe side...huhuhu! Nice la....BTW, KCH will have Mc'D soon...they pasted the job vancy ads....

  2. No problem !

I have booked a flight on the Twin Otter MYY-BKI already. But i arrive from Pontianak at KCH and i wanted something "special" in between.

I won´t start crying if Hornbill don´t offer the flights to the public anymore. I just need someone to find out the true status. Otherwise i will make alternative booking either with AK or MH to MYY.

There is still a lot of time to find out about Hornbill because i will arrive in KCH on friday oct 31 ...

Will do you the favour when I'm free ok? Give me two weeks or so, coz school holidays gonna starts soon, will be free by then...just PM me in two weeks time and I hope I have a reply by then...may I have your preferred date of departure? I will help enquire about the route and fare...as I far as I know they use to have KCH-TGC-MKM-MYY

  3. The last time I saw this fella was during my secondary school days 1993/4 iirc. Light is with me today :yahoo: I wont bore u guys, here's two

Good catch there Iggy, well done...finally something worth talking about in KCH huh? A real beauty....see the two special marking above the window and by the cocpit window...wonder what it is? Good job once again...was at the airport just now...saw it parked at Gate 9 and RBA 319 parked at Gate 4...what a rare sight indeed....hope that you can catch it taking off...usually RBA takes off from 07...would be a real sight...thanks again

  4. Ashmil...RBA do fly to KCH,I was on it before...it operates daily out of BKI but only Wed,Thu and Sun to KCH. Many European and Australian flies into KK via BWN...thus the daily flight...many tourist felt that KCH is a let down in terms of tourist attractions...we do not have as much Sandy and Sunny Beaches here.

Most of the National Parks and Nature Reserves are protected...disallowing too many tourist at any one time....trasport system in the city is a shameful affair...i lost count the number of times I offer rides to foreign tourist to take them back to the city from WInd Caves, Fairy Caves and from Kubah Ria National Park.

But i'll tell you that KCH is famous among West Malaysians who adores the tikar, woodwork, salted terubuk "salmon of the east" and kek lapis....lets keep our fingers cross, hopefully with SCORE, more foreign investor will come to Kuching and bring with them new airlines and routes.

With the Convention Centre almost complete...what KCH needs now is a theme park. The Cabel Car project in Santubong is about to start...so all in all Kuching is late compared to KK, but we are catching up...remember, Sarawak is a big state, funding must be distributed to the other cities as well, like Miri and Sibu...I repeat, I read that BATAVIA is launching JOGJAKARTA-KCH...care to confirm??

  5. Can anyone tell me on which routes Firefly will use the new ATR´s ?

I guess they will run them on the new routes. But how to be sure ???

The Firefly website doesn´t tell (still F 50 shown on the timetable page ...)

Actually i´m planning a trip around Malaysia/Indonesia in november and among the new routes is Medan-Penang. So, is it likely they will operate the ATR on that route ?

Any details where the first ATR(s) will be based ? Subang or Penang ???

26 of October...I thought i saw it on FY's website

  6. Has anyone ever been on Batavia Air? Im kinda itching to fly into Pontianak just for a short weekend...any info on the level of service? Pricing? Flight time? Even though it is listed in the 3rd Band in terms of safety, so far they have been pretty safe...has the Indonesian lifted the Band 3 (least safe) status yet? Thanks in advance!

  7. In the papers that I read, MH will fly their innagural ATR on the SBW-BKI route...I dont think it is going to be in August as reported by the papers...crew have not been certified...Originally, MASwings planned the innagural flights to coincide with the launch of the new uniform for the Cabin Crew...so far its been really quiet...

  8. Any idea who will fly it 1st? FY or MH? I read in the papers that MH will fly theirs in August...while FY will get theirs in August but fly them on the 26 of Oct...I want to be among the 1st on the ATR!! As for the Fokkers, they could leased it Riau Airways...or Hornbill Skway? You never know....But I will miss those Dutch made planes...they are simply beautiful things...so perfect...

  9. Sorry I missed this thread, but here comes my two cents! Remember FAX (sub of AK)?? Back then when they operated, we govt officers need to pay our own before we can claim back and it usually takes a long time before we see our money...if back then they didnt accept Waran...why now??? Back in the FAX days...flying for official duties within Sabah and Sarawak was very difficult...delays, cancelations, all the hassle! After all AK also flies the Military Personals...their package even includes Nasi Lemak...If Ak is going to fly me for my next official duties in Peninsular...MOE better make sure it includes baggage fee and food...In the Education, only those JuSa C are flow C/J and F for International sector...the rest DG54-DG29 and Support Staff gets fullfare Economy...so nice to be PTDs...

  10. I agreed with Liam, you need to experience the airline yourself. I heard so many horrible stories about BI, but I flew with them twice in the past 12 months, and I haven't had any problem with them (touchwood!). If price is the main concern and you are flexible with the dates (BI only flies to Auckland three times a week), you should give them a go. Looking at the BI timetable, layover in BWN for KUL - AKL both ways isn't that bad. In fact it is only 40 minutes on the way back!! Oh, btw, if your transit time in BWN is more than 4 hours, you can either join a free city tour or get a complimentary meal at the airport.

Got free meal meh? I asked when i was in tansit...apparently it's not free, just that you can a meal of Nasi Goreng and Ayam Goreng and some orange juice for BND5...tours departs 3-4 times a day, not hourly...last tour departs 7pm, local time...I was there in May...but the cabin crew were ok, esp the Malaysian...they are happy to see fellow Malaysians...all the best with your trip...dont foget to post your TR ok?? Bi is not a bad carrier...they arent as full as MH or SQ...you get more personal space...

  11. Kch is basically in the center of the country.. having left out entirely!!! Taiko SAm.. we all harap u and ur BKI gang ok.. hehe :p

Ain't that the truth?? KCH is only popular among Germans, you think LH will fly into KCH?? Even KLM do not code share with MAS on domestic!! So sad!! Only ANA...how to make KCH more popular among tourist hor??

  12. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pacific_Blue_(airline)

Please follow the link above and read the "Accident" section...something is not right and maybe someone could help correct the entry in Wikipedia...I'm pretty sure that the crash never happened...everything about the entry is wrong, flight no., flight time, crash only after second day of operation?? Right engine faile but the left wing broke?? Something is very wrong...Thank you for reading, hope somebody could do something about this post....

Ok...the post has been removed...must be some stupid joke!! not funny...anyway, It got me in the panic mode for a second...it was about a DJ flight crash in Dunedin Airport...thank god nothing happened...sorry for the false alarm guys...sorry again...

  13. Wow...very the very retro...maybe the FA should wear the older uniforms also, from the different era??...like a walk down memory land thing...nice pic from btw...it does kinda "cheer" up the cabin some what...

I flew on DJ's B737-800 once, the seats were slim, leather, and had headrest...very nice in fact...not sure about the width, but pitch was 31' but since the seats were slim...you kinda feel less cramped...I'm all for the B737-800!!

  14. I Heard that they are going to use new technology, the meal will be reheated on ground and sealed using a plastic wrap that would retain the heat....so i gues no more loading the meal into the box as per the current practices.... Further more, there would only be 2 cabin crew in Economy Class.

Read it in airlinemeals.net that it is called the "aladdin tray", once used by USAir or United, cant remember...not very sure though if its the one MAS will be using soon...the joke about airline food since the beginning of time is that the food get reheated too long and the flavour, colour and everything else goes up in steam. To improve MAS snekbox, all they need to do is to put in some "sincerity" when putting in the types of food into the box...healthy, flavourful and not cold tasteless and unapplealing like those now...

I would be happy to get a crossaint filled with shredded chicken breast with mayo, or a french loaf with spicy tuna and mayo spread. MAS should also included halal dim sums like those served on HKG-Taipei routes on EVA and CX...two chicken siew mais, 2 prawn Har kau and a piece of Yam cake??? Or like the famous Air Asia Roti Jala and some curry gravy...how about steam chicken char siew bun? Im all for dim sums served on board...french toast served with honey for morning flights?? Sound good? Maybe I should start my own airline catering!

BTW, if Alan B reads this, may i know how do the FA knows how long they need to reheat the food?...and for the "long haul" Fokker 50 flights between KUL-KCH/BKI and KCH-Pontianak once upon a time, were hot meals ever served on these flights? How were the food served back then? Nice? Simple? Thank you!

    Approx MYR3413.35 all in.

The UA fare can also be done KUL-SIN on MH, and UA the rest of the way via NRT/HKG etc.

I've only searched on price. These are published fares you can get from any TA or the airline/airline GSA directly.

The MH and SQ fares I found to LAX/NYC were similar to what you've posted.

Mind telling which site you got this info from...seemed very interesting...thanks in advance
