  1. Heads up...MH English customer service hotline is managed by a company in Fiji...my friend was put on hold while the agent SNORED...YUP...HE WAS ASLEEP! I'm not making this up...

ALWAYS CALL the one in Malay...those are answered locally and they speak English too!

  2. KUL gets a nice upgrade by CI:

China Airlines within the last 24-72 hours has filed preliminary schedules for winter 2017/18 season, effective 29OCT17. Significant changes based on first draft as follow.

    Taipei Taoyuan Kuala Lumpur CI721/722 Boeing 777-300ER replaces 747-400 (W16), 1 daily

On the flip side, this means no more quasi-upgrade for the handful of Y pax who manage to secure the upper deck seats.

Also, North America will be served entirely by the new long-haul fleet, with YVR and HNL getting the A350

Taipei Taoyuan Honolulu Airbus A350-900XWB replaces A330-300, 2 weekly

Taipei Taoyuan Vancouver Airbus A350-900XWB replaces 747-400, 5 weekly

If the plans stick, CI will be my new TPAC favourite (in J) with a nice product all the way.

Hopefully you can select the Y+ seats at Y fare...I don't think they sell Y+ for flights less than 5 hours...

  3.

4K and 6K are identical. 1K on the other hand, has a squarer and larger footwell, which is good. 1K also has a small area or gap forward of the console on the window side at floor level, behind the bulkhead - which I find useful for putting things like handbags in. 4K and 6K do not have this.

Big minus of 1K vs the other thrones is that there's a galley light that shines pretty much straight at your face. It's very annoying on a night flight if the curtain isn't drawn and people tend to bump into the seat complex when returning from the lavatory

I like this in depth analysis of the seat! 👍

  4. Ahh.. don't tell me it is going to be theoretically cheaper to fly with SQ/TG/VN to non Asean destinations by transiting in SIN/BKK/SGN/HAN from KUL. What a morning pick-me-up :), thank you MAVCOM! You guys are swell

As it is...VN is already much cheaper than D7 especially to North Asia! My recent ICN-KUL return via HAN/SGN was barely rm1000...
