  1. Been awhile since I last flew into KLIA, so some advise needed.

We'll be arriving in from MYY on MH2585 at 2240hrs and have a connecting SV831 flight the very next morning at 0640. Unfotunately, flight bookings are separate as we can't seem to get the exact flights online/travel agents.

Thinking of booking the SamaSama express (airside) so the kids can have some rest.

But due to separate flight bookings, what's the possibility of the check in agent at MYY able to tag our bags through all the way to MED? If not a possibility, can we go directly to the hotel, have a rest, check out  hotel at 0400, clear immigration and collect our bags at lost and found and straight to Saudia counter? Or do you guys can think of a better option for us?

Royal Brunei Airlines B787 V8-DLC is currently on Cairo ground to bring back Bruneians, and Malaysians stuck at Egypt. This marks BI's one-off return to CAI where they used to fly their B76ER in 1993, until termination in 1995.

Meanwhile 162 Malaysians were brought back from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam on 26th March 2020 using special chartered flight using MH A330-323X 9M-MTK did the honor.

Two flights in total. V8-DLC and V8-DLD. Was told Malaysians was on the second flight.

  3.

maybe no more A320? and rumours AK BKI-BWNvv might end soon also

Not rumours but confirmed. Last service for AK will be this Sunday. Not surprised though, early morning flights are hard to compete with the timings offered by BI (majority of Bruneians treat KK as a quick getaways, head to the airport after school/ work ends on a friday and back by sunday evening).

  4. The 2 grounded with engine issues were a while back ago.

I've not seen the chartered a343 landing and taking off above my house since they started the direct flights. I'm assuming installation of crew rest bunk are now complete.

sorry for being asking before research. there is still 3 dreamliner flying around, while DLB and DLD (iirc) grounded.

because as from previous comments, i got the wrong image of an aircraft in shanghai for installing the crew rest bunk, and another 2 was grounded in BWN due to engine issues. so if so, do they have enough time to ready the aircraft for the BWN-LHR flight? or, some of their fleet already install with it?

  5. This article is incorrect in attributing it to mud dauber wasps. The big issue, localised to BNE at the moment, is an exotic pest from South America, the Keyhole Wasp. This little bugger will block a pitot in ten to fifteeen minutes. Much research is being done by one of the operators on the special hazards of this. At BNE something resembling a pitot tree may be seen, a pole mounted with test pitot to evaluate the threat. All operators should be made aware of the unusual situation at BNE.

  6. Like I said, those who have never travelled with infants will never understand her predicament.

And btw, there is only one lounge accessible by those travelling on domestic flights. And it is quite basic. And 6 hours downtime with an infant - no lounge access will conpensate that.

And no, you misread. The cancelled flight wasnt hers but an earlier one.

I agree to this completely. One would only understand the situation once they travel with infants.

Lounge or not, getting proper infant food and milk supply in an airport is extremely difficult. (We were delayed in Changi last November, even then we had a difficult time finding proper halal food for our two year old. Thankfully she takes in fresh milk which we could purchase from 7/11).

If MH customer service had notified them in advance, i reckon they would have been better prepared.

  7. This family is not entirely blame free - they did not do their web check in. Of course, everyone with an Enrich card wants to feel like they are VIPs. But then Enrich cards are as common as 10 sen coins - so what do you expect?

As for complaining, they should first write to the man that matters most, PB. Then lodge a complaint with MAVCOM. It would be good to know what MAVCOM can do...

Checking in online is not available when traveling with an infant.

  8. Any photos? Thanks!!

No, unfortunately the doors were closed immediately as HM left the hangar.

No picture of the new B747-8i yet, but the Sultan and his entourage took B747-430 V8-ALI for his official visit to KL.

It seems the B747-8i has indeed been delivered. It was de-registered from FAA Registry on 27th Sept 2016 and exported on the same day. http://registry.faa.gov/aircraftinquiry/NNum_Results.aspx?NNumbertxt=455BJ

Perhaps they are still busy preparing its interior with magazines, cutlery and etc. I will need to check with my friend if he can sneak a pic

Yes, He used his 744 for this trip. 748 was parked right next to it. 762 had to be parked outside prior to the departure due to hangar space only accomodating 3 planes.

  9. Any news on this? When announced in January it was reported they were going to be handed over in September.

Other than a vague reference in a Borneo Post article in August, when Najib visited Brunei, it seems to have all gone quiet,

    Geoff

As per http://www.malaysiandefence.com/deftech-av4-blackhawks-in-mark-v-soc-out/ they will be handed over by year end and fully transferred by April of next year. I'm guessing they're still waiting for the green light from the US State Department.

  10. Well they've been sending wide bodies ever since the b763 days typically during the weekends. I remember flight was not that full though.

Just wondering out loud here, does such a short flight using a Dreamliner make monies for the airline as opposed to using an ATR or a B737-800?

Don't think so but prior to this BI did occasionally send their leased B777 to BKI "just for the fun of it". :D

  11. from an email i received from Royal Skies:

    http://brunei.frequentflyer.aero/index.php/component/content/article/285

    Greetings from Royal Brunei Airlines,

Exclusively for our Royal Skies Members,

We are delighted to announce that Royal Brunei Airlines (RB) plans to resume flights to Ho Chi Minh City with the frequency of four times a week effective Saturday, 17 October 2014. Flight bookings to experience Vietnam’s bustling city can be made starting today, 25th July 2014.

On that note, they will also be returning to Bali with four times per week starting tomorrow (26th July 2014)

  12. I saw it too on my way back to my house this morning from Sri Kepayan/Ridgeview. It was 9.05am :)

this morning spotted a 787 depart from BKI around 0900LT. should be a flight upgrade to cater yesterday affected passenger. :pardon:

but one thing i notice is 787 rotation also very SEXY! :D

The dreamliners have been working extra hard since midnight to clear the backlogs of passengers in KK and Singapore.

Somehow, BI098 was stranded in Singapore as well. Hence, two dreamliners were in Singapore at 2am this morning departing 20mins apart.
