Latest rumour heard, more routes will be cut starting next year. Stations involved will be EZE, CPT, JNB, DXB and 1 other.
I thought KUL-CPT-EZE is profitable, no? Slaughtered by EK, haha no wonder, with their ancient equipment.
-
Hopefully MH and LA cooperates with each other and make this route profitable year-round.

Asean to see four new airlines by 2012
Posted on 15 September 2011 - 05:38am
"Additionally, the 737-800s that are owned by MAS may be transferred to Sapphire for regional flight operations, with the remaining legacy 737-400 and leased 737-800s left behind with mainline MAS to service regional and domestic routes.
Sounds stupid....

Fully agree with Ignatius and Francis Lee ... there is little point investing heavily in fighters that will never see real service (and thank goodness for that).
Instead, the investment should go into heavy transport planes and helicopters that could be used in disaster relief work ... or maritime patrol aircraft that could protect the sealanes around Malaysia (in co-operation with other ASEAN neighbours).

if they can thinks rationally and no $$$ involved...

Wow... EK bringing their big bird to KUL. Spotting anyone?
-
Hmm SQ really great at planning aircraft expansion and interim solution. MH on the other hand like to boast they will have the youngest fleet but in reality... Come on MH, order new aircraft for B777 replacement...
-
Serves you right MH! After this can't use Best Cabin Staff to brag anymore.... Hopefully this unfortunate circumstance will act as a wake up call for MH, and will return them to former glory
-
What about their aging B777?
-
No wide-body order yet?
-
Weird, as they said they need new aircraft because of better utilization, yet they still not order anything to replace the aging B777

I couldn't agree with you more Mushrif. After the "Mengecewakan Harapan" (disappointing one's hope) in the seating, let's hope the catering doesn't go any worse. Here is my view on what the situation has been. Of course prior to the refurbishment that saw "An Experience Redefined" with lie-flat seats installed in the B772 and B744, catering was something that came from the trolleys. One peered into the large china dishes and said a bit of this and that and it was dished up, neatly or otherwise as the case may have been.
With the launch of the "fine dining" concept", there was a lot of publicity and photos showing smart plated-up meals, complete with Wedgwood china, silverware and Italian glassware. So what's happened since then? Particularly for the Brisbane to Kuala Lumpur route?
Cue, exhibit A, which I compiled to show the rise and fall of catering:
In case you're wondering, these are photos I took of the food, and just as well I had a record of the good things from times past.
Again, I wonder if it's the standard from the last picture they're trying to compare the said improvements from, when the plane downgraded from the B772 to the (old) A330. The standard of catering also went backwards to match the ambience and amenities! In the words of Mushrif, anyone can improve on that one, even your local kopitiam if they tried a bit!
Yucks, pay top dollar and got peanuts. SQ's J menu are far more glamorous and appetizing. Menu on MH lacks presentations and imaginations.
As for the seat, it would be great if they use the same J seat as CX. Elegant, classy and comfortable.
-
Priceless! Thanks for the vid, didn't expect it to be that spectacular. The ppl at the front and back of the CRJ would have the best swing.
U are welcome... seem that A380 are prone to accident due to their size, hopefully not a serious damage. Must be a nightmare for AF to re booking all passengers back to CDG.

J seat could've been better if they cover the seat with leather instead of fabric, just like what SQ did with theirs. Much more classier and elegant.
-
Very informative. If only they extend the durations of the video...

Neither was TF and his AirAsia board. The same goes for Singapore Airlines management team. I believe that their current CEO may be the first guy who spent most of his career in the airline industry.
You can have advisors and consultants, can't you? Good management will ensure a business is professionally and properly run. I think that in Malaysia, we have too many politicians and not enough professionals in GLCs. That is why we see a great deal of incompetence and not enough transparency and accountability.
Well said.

Stellar performance. Just imagine if they are allow to fly where ever they want, maybe they will be twice as big as today.
-
Graceful aircraft to look at. If only MH could add a few in their collection
-
Makes sense. I hope MH's A380s are not delayed any further. I want to be flying in one of those in the 2nd half of 2012 to London!
Yeah, can't wait to fly that bird. Been saving some money to be use for that trip

Speaking of KLIA2, what is the progress so far?

The sleeves of the new female uniform brings back memory. Back in the 90's my mom used to wear those baju kurung with that kind of sleeves, ropol-ropol...

It'll never happen but, strategically, it makes sense. OneWorld only have CX really to penetrate the SEA market. Having MH onboard will allow them to really compete with StarAlliance, who have both SQ and TG for the SEA market. Both BA and QF use SIN and BKK as their SEA stop-over points with QF also using HKG alongside CX from flights between Australia and the UK. KUL can provide them with another stop-over point without having to use their own aircraft but simply code-sharing on MH aircraft. This way, OneWorld will be able to provide flights between Australia and the UK via SIN, KUL, BKK and HKG!
Make sense and both QF and BA don't have to send their precious metal to 'low-yielding' KUL.

I completely agree. I know what I want and I know how I want to travel. I gave AK a go early on but they're definitely not for me and I find all the extra fees really really annoying and I also find some of their extra charges for extra services (like wheelchairs) offensive and discriminatory. Now I only fly MH. In the last 3 and a bit years, I've taken 10 flights with AK (the last was over 2 years ago now) and 52 flights with MH. I have another 16 planned with MH for the rest of the year. I speak with my money and AK will never get another cent from me.
Well said.

They are beautiful, but I like Lockheed Martin's concept. Not so radical and passengers can still have their window seat
Give us Sydney, not Pyongyang, says AirAsia X

According to sources, MAS, which flies direct to Sydney twice a day now, is expected to reduce its frequency to one flight a day to the benefit of long-haul budget carrier AirAsia X.
MAS neither confirmed nor denied the news, preferring to take a neutral stance
Another rumour or truth?
