  1. I think they are tight for capacity, OD works their fleet hard and there is little redundancy built into the schedules to recover.

It'd be an interesting comparison seeing the average daily utilisation hours between an OD and MH B737.

Massive growth at OD with 3 B738's due into the fleet in the near future. It would be nice to see OD increase frequencies to key domestic destinations as AK are doing. KUL-PEN is only serviced 3 times per day currently.

Also a side note I've seen a recent video on #IG which appears to show a Lion group B737 being painted into the Batik livery, at the end of the clip it shows -LCD being inspected so I'm not convinced. Has anyone seen recently -LNK and what livery she's wearing? I've seen recent images of -LNG in Batam and it's still in OD livery although very patchy and tacky.

  2. Yep just flown KL-PEN on OD2106 -LND and it's got the usual -800 seats but with the ptv screen blanked out, if anyone knows any iPad friendly photo-hosting sites, I took several pics.

The latest 3 aircrafts does not come with IFE installed due to supplier issue. Lumexis closed shop from what i was told and Panasonic cant supply on such short notice. However there are plans to have it retrofitted in the future. Maybe waiting for the right time.

Yep FA said the same they have 3 new ones without screens and they'll only be used on shorts flights.

Of note, -LND has overhead life rafts fitted so potentially another EDTO bird.

  3. Was on 9M-LND yesterday which operated OD807 and was surprised to find that no onboard entertainment system was installed. Have Malindo mad a decision to scrap it for new deliveries ?

It always intrigues me how long it takes OD to put their new deliveries into service...LNC and LND sat around for a month or so and LCK is still yet to enter active service. That said, I believe they are delivered without seats installed but -LND not having IFE is odd as providing entertainment is one of their marketing ploys, what seats did it have installed and did you happen to take a photo?

With the OD services switching to B739 due "performance", how is MH holding up with MH122/121 service between BKI and PER

This flight operates via an inland route so isn't subject to the same EDTO requirements, a few months back one of the -MS* operating it. And the loads have never been spectacular on it, when I've taken it.

OD151/152 has been operated by the usual 738's the past couple of days so loads must be light.

  4. Flew up on OD152 which was operated by -LNL, spoke to the crew and they confirmed it was due to payload limitations on the 738's due to the hot temps in Perth. A couple of weeks back we had a 43oC day and OD152 went out with no pax bags on board. Was a powerful but very long take off.

So for the foreseeable future the 739ER's will stay on OD151/152 and the overnight flight OD155/156 will continue to be operated by 738's.

Interesting to see -LNW and -LNY operating regional flights which they wouldn't normal operate in between EDTO flights to India and PER.

OD appears to be light on for B739's at the moment with -LNG and K in the hangar and another frame operating daily to PER. Flights that are normally 739's are being subbed with 738's.

  5. I flew OD152 yesterday arvo PER-KL and couldn't believe the state of the interior....generally grotty and dirty. The seat belts were also badly frayed in my row, so bad they were difficult to adjust, I mentioned it to the crew and they said it was acceptable, fortunately I don't have a large belly as it might of been a different story. I did take some photos but can't upload them on here directly. That was -LNY which is relatively new. Not a good impression.

I flew -LNV on the same flight in October and all the overhead panels were caked in dust around the PSU's.

The non EDTO B738's seem to be in much better shape, have flown on -LCC, LCF, LNT and LNZ and they were better.

Are these aircraft fitted with second hand seats in SZB prior to entering service?

Also the 6th ex Batik B738 -LCJ looks to be in-service today.

  6. I fly OD regularly now to/from PER and I can assure you their B738's and the lone B739 I've flown on in the past 3 months are far more comfortable than the MH B738's I've flown on this year, both the MS* and MX* series, a good couple of inches more on OD.

Does MH have enough aircraft for these newly announced routes, I'd heard recently they were looking for more P&W powered A333's?

  7. I boarded -LNZ last month on a late night flight to Penang and looked at the fuselage when boarding, the 'Malindo' titles are just a big sticker decal, when you see it up close i.e. boarding its a completely different shade of white where it's been applied to the relatively new fuselage.

Does anyone know if -LNC is EDTO equipped for Perth services? Apart from the usual 3 B738's we see exclusively, -LNP made a couple of visits early last week on the overnight flights.

  8. I was booked on OD152 on the 25/8 which was due to depart PER at 1520, this a few weeks before was pushed back to 1720 meaning we missed our connection that night to PEN. OD to their credit put us up in a hotel (a dodgy one at that) called the Aston not too far from KLIA and provided transfers. They moved us to the 0800 flight ex KL-PEN.

Flying home to PER on the 31/8 OD152 was pushed back from 0825 to a 1025 departure ex KL, I personally think that a 1 hour connection after arriving in KL from PEN at 0725 might of been a tad ambitions on OD's behalf especially in the event of any delays etc.

I was impressed with OD overall although they seem to have quite high fleet utilisation.
