  1. Be interesting to see if 9M-LRL, M and P are reconfigured into a 2 class layout as they are currently listed as having a Y180 cabin, which I believe the recently delivered -LRK features.

9M-LRG, H and J are their only current flying 737-8’s which feature a 2 class C12Y150 cabin in addition to those 3 random 738’s they’ve retained.

A380s to begin exiting early october. All will be flown to Europe for reconfiguration and cleanup for new owner apparently. Aircraft spotters might wanna bookmark every Mondays of every week. This is where one a380 will fly off per week until mid November. No departure timing schedule at the moment.

Firefly 737 transfer delayed. Aircraft no 4 delayed to end of this month not sure if no5 and 6 are still on schedule. Very hectic scheduling all being pushed on 3 aircrafts now. One breaks down and its Rayani flashbacks.

Hi jahur, any idea which frames will be transferred across to FY?

  3. Does anyone know the reconfiguration schedule for the 738’s and which aircraft are being done?

The only one which I’m aware of being done so far is -MXV and this hasn’t flown since it’s recent scratch and sniff launch a number of weeks ago.

As a side note retrojet -MXA is now back in service after being in storage.

Lion Air B737-MAX8 PK-LQH MSN6441/ 6441 went for test flight at KUL yesterday before joining Batik Air Malaysia fleet as 9M-LRT. Tentatively all Y, 180 seats.

    Cheers JuliusWong.

9M Batik have just announced an increase of flights to Perth from 15Sep from 2 weekly flights up to 11 weekly, in addition to this they’ve also announced a new route which operates KUL-DPS-PER-DPS-KUL, 3 times weekly. Operated by a mix of 738 and 7M8’s.

I also see their resuming twice daily B737 flights to PEN.

Some pretty rapid expansion in the coming months, both schedules and fleet growth.

Slightly off topic, I see PK Batik are taking a lot of those ex Garuda 738’s that are parked at ASP in storage, bet we’ll see more former Malindo 738’s returning to the 9M register.

  5. -LRD is now back in service.

OD has started operating MAX 8’s to BNE and MEL in the past couple of days.

Been doing some research and have discovered OD are taking several ex Lion Air MAX 8’s and these will become -LRQ, R, T and U on the 9M registry, so plenty of fleet expansion to come with 2 further factory fresh examples too joining the fleet.

Guessing then -LRG has a 2 class interior as this is a very recent delivery from Boeing.

Hoping they can standardise the cabins and remove the Y180 Lion interiors.

  6. A further sign that this pandemic is hopefully behind us, Batik Air Malaysia (Malindo to most of us) now have 3 x MAX 8’s in service -LRC, F and G believe these were former Malindo birds that spend time on the PK- register before being transferred back across.

Does anyone know if these have been reconfigured into a J and Y cabins? These were previously in an all Y configuration with those cheap blue Lion Air seats.

-LRD also looks to be returning to the 9M register too.

-LRH and J have recently ferried back to the SEA/Boeing Field for work prior delivery too after lengthy periods in storage.

Mods, can we sticky this to replace the 2020 thread please.

  7. An airline which is often forgotten about is Malindo and with international travel recommencing here in Australia and flights to Perth set to recommence, I’ve just been researching the current Malindo B737 fleet and I was unaware at how decimated their former reasonably sized fleet has become.

Is it correct they just have -LCR, LNP and LNV left in active service?

  8. The Sydney service has already commenced.

Yes, it is good to see those sleeping airframe put to good use. I think OD are leasing out as much extra capacity as they can and and utilising those remaining harder with shorter turnaround and milking them to dry. There was an interview recently with outgoing CEO Chandran Rama Muthy which he gave a lot of information on OD current and future operation.

He mentioned they are also leasing out their B737NG to Samoa Airways as well for cover for MAX grounding too. They have leased out two new ATR 72 to Royal Brunei recently, delivered in all white livery.

In terms of strategy, they have confirmed they are now a full service carrier. Aiming to be profitable by 2021 (8 years after initial service!!)

Next stops will be Sydney and Da Nang. The scissor hub in Bali must be working well for them.

They are expecting four more B737-800NG and two ATR 72 before end of 2019.

I would dispute that OD are now are full service carrier also, they launched as a hybrid carrier back in March 2013, with all inclusive fares, now they've gone down the LCC/bundled tier fares model. Further to this the fares I've looked at once ancillaries are added in they were more than MH on a number of sampled flights originated ex Perth.

The likes of QF, SQ and CX are FSC, Malindo/Batik Malaysia are just plain confusing about their identity and place in the market. They have so much potential but have slid down the totem pole further. The should've kept the hybrid model and if needed reduced their generous allowances.

Being Australian but spending a considerable amount of time in MY, I can truthfully say Aussies vote with their wallets, they need to complete the rebrand and distance themselves from aircraft which resemble Lion Air.

I'm guessing the alleged incoming incoming 737NG's are from Batik?
