  1. From the video, it is almost certain that the crash was caused by load shift. Improperly loaded cargo just moved backward during takeoff and climb when the body angle was high. The center of gravity moved way aft from the limit causing the tail end to be too heavy, pitching the nose up further and making the aircraft stall. By then nothing can be done anymore.

This is one of the risk of flying cargo aircraft, which is unlikely to happen in a passenger aircraft. It is a well known problem where the only solution is to ensure the cargo are properly strapped to the floor.

Capt. Do 747 combis have such risk? Wondering if pax number is low but full cargo behind?

  2.

    GOL in 2006 (mid-air collision, Embraer's fault)

    Kenya Airways in 2007

    China Airlines in 2007

    Ryanair in 2008 (birdstrikes)

    Turkish Airlines in 2009

American Airlines in 2009 (overran the runway, poor weather)

    Ethiopian Airlines in 2010

Air India Express (overran the runway)

    Caribbean Airlines (overran the runway)

All is explained in A.net in the thread with over 200 replies. Plenty of information there.

    From A.net

    Thanks.

  3. I must agree with Mushrif about things that can be smuggled from a twin otter to a 737. There was absolutely zero security check for baggage on my trips to Mukah some years ago. One can make a loud enough statement by bringing down an otter bearing a Malaysian flag. And these days there are people willing to die to accomplish their mission!

  4. I feel a Western brand may attract evil people to do nasty things like what happened in Indonesia in recent years. I find it amusing that Hilton KL has this security folks with mirrors looking at underneath of cars in case there is something suspicious. I thought this is something routine only in eastern Europe during the days of the Soviet Union!

We never had to go this far where security is concerned. Even the US mission nowadays looks so unwelcoming with its concrete barriers.

MAHB shouldn't just cater to people with deep pockets for 5 star accomodation. Something affordable for the regular folks should be made available too.

  5.

    Erkkkkk.....

I have no further comment as I am very speechless.....

    Got differentiation meh?

The screening process for candidates is meticulous, the training is streanuous, and upon completion, one can choose which department to go to or opt for foreign posting... Well that is little I know but this is way off-topic.

    OK back to topic.

As I mentioned earlier, is it too difficult for MAS to make known to potential customers where and when MXA will be deployed? This retro livery is supposed to create excitement especially amongst us avaition enthusiasts but seems to create bitterness to some already. And I don't see much promotion of it elsewhere to celebrate this 40th anniversary celebrations. Wonder if this is another of MAS' "syiok sendiri" adventures?

  6. .... talked to an old timer with MH (ground crew)... the one with the 'Sistem Penerbangan Malaysia' provided them with 3 months bonus,

none when they changed... (is it correct?)

Not sure about that. The annual reports of up to the first 10 years of MAS showed it was profitable though, so some bonus was probable.

One old timer I know (a former station manager) is upset... disgusted with the state of affairs in MAS nowadays. He is even delighted that his son is now working with EK!

This is the link to the unusual livery, perhaps a one off?

I can't recall any peanuts back then, but there were MAS-branded sweets, cigarettes even.... I still have a small collection of match boxes. Elizabeth Arden toileteries, real cotton face towels, stacks of mini soaps etc in the washroom...

And thoughtful gifts for First Class. And they were quality gifts e.g. Cross pens, Noritake cruet sets...

  7. "Malaysian" livery came later, sometime 1981 or so. There is yet another cheatline variation which connects right up to the tail. Didn't see this myself but there is a photo of it on sale at ebay. Also several hybrid ones on DC10 haj flights.

By the time "Malaysian" livery came about, inflight meals such as sandwiches for economy short sectors disappeared, and fares crept upwards.

  8. Just respect them by not stolen from hangar, maybe MH know how to publish their product to public. By the way, they just show sneak preview (nose part) on their FB.

Thanks. Seen it already... since way back in 1972 :) 40 years on and MAS wants to keep it a secret
