  1. To clarify, I believe that it should be 9M-XAB, AirAsia X very first A330-343X fitted with RR engine I believe. The tail livery is modified from those of 9M-XAA

Its 9M-XXA,msn 952,its a A330-343E and not -343X,no center tank but its a HGW version.I flew the plane out of PER on 02/11/08.

  2. just wondering who actually maintained the a/c while in ypph. they shouldnt let AK fly if any issues. it shows that engineers not doing well with their job eh.. so who to blame now? MAS?

Eng / maint support given by CX PER Station. Its D7/XAX my friend and not AK,operating on a different AOC.D7 maint team are composed of some very experienced people with some of them coming from SQ and MH.Its a machine, when it breaks it breaks and can affect anybody, nothing is perfect but we try our level best.

The aircraft was scrutinised by both DCA and D7 QA/Air Worthiness team during the handover from Airbus to D7 in Toulouse. Please do not belittle people unless you have some very positive facts.

  3. To all the MW members who were affected by the prob flt out of PER,on behalf of AirAsia X I apologise sincerely.I was the PIC for the outbound flight. Before any of you start crucifying me,let me explain what really happened.

Aircraft 9M-XXA arrived from KUL 30 mins late from STA due to some minor probs ie No.2 eng start fault.later while on short finals into PER Rwy 21 experienced G Hyd fault but manage to recover the system after landing, later experienced a G Hyd leak after parking the aircraft at parking bay 55.

Flt was supposed to depart from PER at 1605LT but ws delayed to 1805LT.After finding the actual culprit (warnout O ring seal in G Hyd line),carriedout system check and was cleared by Maint Eng to depart from PER.Eng start on both engs went on smoothly and positioned for Take Off from Rwy 21.On take off from PER,when FO raised the ldg gear lever ,experienced ECAM warning and message that the Lgd Gear was not uplocked and gear doors unable to raised. On climbout from PER carried out ECAM actions, also experienced both engs G Hyd EDP fault, then shutdown both EDPs in accordance with ECAM action, used backup G Elect Hyd pumps but do not have :Nose wheel steering, normal brake, auto brake but have reversers and alternate brake.Decided to RTB to PER and requested ground assistance.Aircraft landed and was shutdown on Rwy 21 ,closing it temporarily and was towed back to the apron.

Later the maint engineers foundout that the sensor system within the G Hyd system had probs because of the earlier prob ,activated its safety mode (ldg gear doors unable to raise due to cavitation within the G Hyd lines),prob was solved when the CB for the system (HSMU) was recycled and a systems check carriedout plus an engine ground run was done before the aircraft was certified ok for departure. After consultations with the AirAsiaX mangement, aircraft was flown back to KUL without the pax, with the outbound pax put on any available flight out (via MH,SQ) so that if the prob occured again the pax wont be affected by it.Thank God ,nothing happend and we landed at KUL at 0345LT this morning.Aircraft was flown back at M.84.Flt D72712 departed KUL at 0600LT instead of 0030LT.

  4. Nice....

    Will AK bleed? Let's see

Will AK bleed with the new service by FY?I dont think so,but maybe just a slight bruising yes.Its too small yet to cause any bleeding unless it gets the much rumored B734 from MH to supplement its ATR service then definitely AK will be on a comabat mode. There are a few pilots from FY now in AK and from what we gathered its not that rosy.

  5. Yes ,this is very good development. With the brand new and very "canggih" ATR 72-500 hope FY will give AK a run for its money.Hopefully they stick to their business plan ,to be a community airline instead of as a low cost or boutique airline.

The reason I say the FY ATR 72-500 "canggih" because last week I overhead the conversation between an FY ATR 72-500 and Butterworth Area controller that the ATR was very "advance : with GPS update nav",they were enroute to PEN from SZB while I was descending towards AOR.

  6. As previous posts mentioned, they'll receive A340s to do it.

Where it from and what variant is yet to be known...

A340-300 from Air Canada.Expected delivery sometime in Jan 2009.Crews will be training in Dec 2008 at Airbus Training Ctr ,Toulouse, France.

  7. I think the the most notable one would be LAT crash at KKIA a couple of years back.

I believe it was skidded rather than crashed.Aircraft was 9M-AAP,had an MEL on one of its trust reverser (one trust reverser inop),capt Indon (Ex AdamAir- has since left the company) while FO in now a capt on the A320.After that incident,AK had an aircraft landed short at MYY due to windshear (capt very experienced ex-MH Capt who has sinced retired from AK)

  8. Well, they do published this news in The Star today. Its kinda very sad to see the 737-300 retires. :(

    The full news:

    http://www.thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?f...&sec=nation

Yes ,certainly there will be fond memories on the B733.Had a couple of major incidents while flying that aircraft in AK, (Rapid decompression, failed nose gear,ACP fail),anyway its about time they retire the old faithful B733 from AK,too many MELs anfd yellow stickers, starting to be a major maintainance nightmare for the operating crews.,plus its uneconomical as compared to the A320.I flew the B733 for 3 years in AK before flying the A320/A330.

  9. From what I've noticed, every aircraft based in Malaysia needs to have a Malaysian flag and also the word "Malaysia" beneath. This includes AK, FY, Transmile and MASWing's a/c, as well as G/A a/c and choppers. MH (excluding MASKargo) and (formerly) Pelangi Air dont' carry "Malaysia" beneath the flag though.

Are there such regulations that these aircraft have to carry both the flag and country name?

No such requirements or regulations exist for that, all ICAO member countries require civil registered airplanes to have the aircraft registration on both sides of the aircraft fuselage and on both on upper and lower wings,.,to have an upper and lower red rotating beacon light, have navigational lights installed on wingtips.while others are not mandotory.

  10. I think the X means that its an enhanced model of the A330-300.. The X has a higher MTOW compared to the base model. If i've not mistaken theres an A330-300E version too.

The A330-300X stands for extended range. This type of model is equipped with center tank for more range just like the A330-200.

A330-300E is a new designation by airbus to differentiate from the earlier models (comes with LCD panels instead of CRT plus comes in with IGW / HGW - Increasd gross weight/ High Gross Weight version)

In Air Asia X,9M-XAA is the earlier model (A330-301/msn 054/MTOW 215,000kg powered by GE Engines :CF6-80E1A2),whereas the new aircraft (A330-343E/msn 952/MTOW 230,000kg powered by RR Trent 772B))

  11. Well actualy they are i heard that on crew was in coma i think 2 had dislocated arm or something . It was said that the aircraft experienced the thingi call "The AIR POKET" When crew were on route to Kuching and back experienced horrid terbulance till at one part crew was forced to stop contineuing service.

    mmmmmm

Reminds me of the Bomb threat (hope my spelling is correct) thingi which hapen months a go in Baijing or some Chinese port.

Heard crew was carryingout ECAM actions (ELAC 1 Fault) when they encountered the wx turbulence.

  12. PW's (MAS) GE to (AX) RR, how many years bonded....

I was the first batch of pilots trained in Toulouse on the A330 in 2007.Training was done on the A332 with GE engines, then did line oriented training with MAS with the A333 and A332 with PW engines and now flying with GE engines (A330-301) but will soon be flying A330-343E (RR 772B).

The acceptance crew will be leaving for Toulouse on the 2nd week of October and the A330-343E (msn 952) will arrive sometime around 28/10/08 with the second aircraft arriving in Dec 08.Once the second aircraft comes online msn 054(9M-XAA)will go for cabin upgrade.Next year (2009) XAX/D7? or AKX will be getting 3 x A333 and 2010 with 10 x A333 for a total of 25 x A333.

As for the bond, its 3 years with the amount around RM$80,000 and np prorated.Since I am bonded to the A320 since 2005 (5 years with amount RM$155,000) and no overlapping bond, hopefully when my A320 bond matures so is the A330 bond.

The A330-300X features a center tank with an additional 30,000 Kgs of fuel while XAX/D7 ones are A330-300E (enhanced avionics with no center tank) and comes in HGW (High Gross Weight)

  13. As i know now AHA to AHO...if i'm not mistaken AHO they just received last month...the first AK Airbus 9M-AFA..AFA is scrapped due to hard landing 4G impact, after AFA got one more AFS...but this one not so serious just tail skidded at runway 14L..AFS still flying only AFA grounded at SEA hangar waiting to be chop as spareparts.. :sorry:

9M-AFA was recommended by Airbus SAS to be a writeoff but company intends to recover the aircraft, damage cost around US $10 - 20 mil.The particular FO who did the hard landing has left the company.

  14. Emm it is true that this baby ATR72 can make non-stop flight from Chennai base on what a.net member say??

If it true..it something really amazing non-stop flight performance..that will make AirAsia start to use this plane to fly to Chennai as thier A320 dont have ETPOS..heheheh..if i dont mistaken..

I believe you meant "ETOPS" - Extended Twin -engine Operations".Be advised that ETOPS is only for revenue flight either for Pax and or Cargo.Ferry flight does not fall into ETOPS rules.Ive made ferry flight for AXM from Sharjah to KUL (9M-AFD) non stop and direct.

  15. I still in doubt about this news..We have heard this news many time ago but it still on paper..sekejap kata want to operate to Korean and Indian subcontinental..huhuhu..Emm dont mind if ask, this D7 flight to London will be on non-stop or stop over flight??I see they want to operate direct flight here..

IT is this fare stated above including airport tax also surcharge?? ;) ;)

I dont believe that AirAsia Group will buy Boeing planes since they the biggest operator of A320..As i believe, pilot may have bit difficulties to switch from Airbus to Boeing.. B) B)

You are the man Azizul..Get in the flight for inaugural flight..Amazing..I will do same thing if I afford to do so soon..hehehe..Hope you mange to get onboard for this London flight soon.. :) :drinks:

The A330-300 is capable of reaching India and Japan or Korea without any problem but to go to Europe you need a longer leggeg aircraft thats where the A340-300 comes in.This year D7/XAX or AKX if you guys prefer will be getting 2 x A333,next year between 2 to 3 x A333 and 2010 abot 10 x A333.So with growing number of aircraft ofcourse the company will be seeking new destinations.Sabarlah brother,Ramadhan is coming.

  16. 9M-XAA is leased IMO, their new one with 9 abreast seating is arriving later this year.

    Yikess!! Sardine Config!

9M-XAA (msn 054) leased from AWAS.A/c msn 952 (9M-XAB) is owned.LTU,AirInter and My Travel A333. is more packed at 400 over seats. These aircraft will have 380 seats.Once 9M-XAC is received,9M-XAA is due for cabin reconfig from 315 to 380 seats.

  17. well, she's definitely not one of Simon scale model a/c..and she was definitely the earliest 'rotator' of the day (didn't even reach half of the runway length)...

    IMG_UPSMWings_filtered.jpg

even AK and MH couldn't beat UPS rotation...

Could be it is very light and or empty and using TOGA for take-off.

The reason for AK aircraft late rotation is because we are using "improved climb technique " as recommended by Airbus with "Flex temperature" used to prolong engine life and fuel economy and very seldom use "TOGA" for take off unless in an emergency.

    Airasia Flight cancellation

Well, it looks like airasia hav bring the news to airasia passengers but wat about MAS?

At AXM flight operations that morning all flights to the Pearl delta region were canceled, heard from colleagues who were flying to East malaysia,MH planes had to RTB over South China Sea when told by Singapore ATC that Hong Kong ATC would not accept any inbound traffic due to Typhoon alert.
