  1. As it is...VN is already much cheaper than D7 especially to North Asia! My recent ICN-KUL return via HAN/SGN was barely rm1000...

Yes.. dummy booking showed KUL NRT return for RM 767... if you book via third party sites and apply promo code can get extra off, up to RM45-50

  2. I'm curious - is it charged based on the destination right after Malaysia, or for the final destination on the ticket (à la UK APD)?

E.g If I book a KUL-SIN-NRT ticket with SQ, do I pay the ASEAN or non-ASEAN rate?

Ahh.. don't tell me it is going to be theoretically cheaper to fly with SQ/TG/VN to non Asean destinations by transiting in SIN/BKK/SGN/HAN from KUL. What a morning pick-me-up :), thank you MAVCOM! You guys are swell

  3.

MAB/MH has been consistently inconsistent in products offering, pricing and marketing; branding and marketing positioning is all over the matrix. Most travellers preferred to spend on airlines that meet expectation, be it LCC or FSC.

Well said, recently I experienced a surprisingly excellent flight BKK-KUL in Y. Crew back to their 5 stars best performance and morale - assisting and bantering with passengers in relaxed manner throughout the almost full flight. Likewise there was improvement in catering - with an ice-cream treat and the ever elusive coffee, usually said to suspended 'temporarily' due to turbulence, but always no show in the end, even on longer flights. I hope this kind of performance is consistently consistent in future.

  4. It depends on when you buy the ticket or when you want to travel. Often times, both offer competitive fares. Best for us consumers to to have choices.

Malaysia Airlines comes out as winner.....

This is true even when AirAsia is doing its zero fare promo across many destinations, during peak or off-peak travel periods. Its base fare is only sometimes within LCC range, but once the add-ons are included, most of the time its more expensive than MH or only marginally cheaper, which is not worth the check-in to furthest gate 2km walk (informed to me by one of the buggy driver) in KLIA2 (oops LCCT). For those reasons, I now rarely fly the red one compared to a few years ago.

  5.

totally agreed with this one.... if only AK start to falter and turn into red only then i believe they will move their hub to DMK.

Btw what is the benefit of changing this KLIA2 to LCCT2 ? Will the tix price for AK becoming cheaper or the efficiency of the airport become better / less water pounding? endless possibilities.. :D

LCC connotation of low cost = cheap. Not so, for me. Over the past 12 months, my travel with AirAsia group has dropped tremendously, to a grand total of 2 sectors. For my travel needs, FSCs are providing better value at the moment.

  6.

    On a witty side:

This is how MH current response would be:

    1. The entire can of soda- What whole can?!! You should be happy still serve you complimentary drinks, let alone whole can.
    2. Hot chocolate- Nada. No. Mei You. Zero. Nil. Empty. Service Not Available.
    3. Temporary babysitting. Erm, hello it is hard enough to be cabin crew, need to be nanny some more, in your dream!
    4. Sanitizing Wipes. Refer to #2
    5. Grooming Kits. No money…..only applicable for flight 8 hours and above.
    6. Extra snacks. Peanuts anyone??
    7. Alcohol. For regional flight only……and whatever left with long haul flight.
    8. Basic medications and bandages. This we have…..how many plaster you need??
    9. Wing pins for kids….Refer to #2 again
    10. Bottles of water….Cost cutting nada…no! zit!

    2. 'temporarily' suspended due to turbulence

    6. shrunken from 30g to 25g to 20g. Glad you are still getting a wholenut!

    11. Smiles - free and we can give you banyak2 (but depending on mood too la)

  7. They want people to pay rm6 for a 500ml bottled water onboard...that's why...and they sorta like lower the pressure...water takes forever to fill up...

KLIA2 is an absolutely brilliant airport where you can only purchase mineral water in a cup, not bottle from the airside shops. Where else could you find such stellar service? And we all know the reason. Is it even legal? I'm never a consumer group advocate, but felt consumer's right truly restricted by this move. Why can't i buy a bottle of mineral water in this airport?
