economy class service enhancement

Few weeks ago on way back home from SIN, missus and I had a heap load of luggages on the trolley, plus more
We were almost certain to 'kena kaw kaw' at kastam - at least a thorough rummage to bottom of bags we thought
Instead, managed to just walked past them kastam counters without anyone batting an eyelid (if it need be known, we avoided eye contact)
Same with me yesterday on Raya eve at around 5pm. Tonnes of luggage, made eye contact with one staff who just waved me through. The three ladies were huddled together watching something on a phone. 3 seconds later, just after I walked past the scanner, one of them shouted to the passenger behind me with one single luggage, "scan bag! scan bag!"

MAB if you are going to charge passengers for snacks you better make it a justified improvement. Serve snacks like curry puff/kuih/ more choice of snacks or sandwiches! If it's just peanuts then it's very silly
You are better of just having Buy on board instead of this silly vetting procedure
The U turn might boil down to this - will MAB be able to offer BOB and make it profitable, given the high cost of its catering contract and limited routes for such 'income generating' endeavour.? Or it might be due to wrong loading of info by the IT dept, of which I'm surprised at all.

Very likely the check in agents and cabin crews will be getting short end of the stick from uninformed passengers. Decision makers blind deaf and dumb to their grouses
-
But thats what our customers want ... flexibility to choose whether to pay for food and check in baggage ... MAB will justify. TF rubbing hands in glee

Great so gold members on the London flights have their baggage allowance cut. Thats one way to try and win customers on a competitive route
Not just London but Japan and South Korea. I buy tonnes of junk from those countries (including bidet), almost bursting the allowance all the time. So bye bye love.... bye bye happiness...

Believe mh gate agents are outsourced; not sure work diligently is order of the day.
aisey... sarcasm la my previous post! Wish MAB all the best in these measures to be profitable again. Ahh but it needs to perform CPR / resurrect its dead mobile app since a major 'revamp' a few days ago

The immediate effect of this new fare is more passengers trying to bring large bags into the cabin.
Unless MH ups its cabin luggage enforcement by at least 300 notches, it will end up being a half baked effort.
There should be a dedicated staff manning the departure gate and inspect all cabin luggage, and dictate which luggage goes and which does not go into the cabin. Those that are above the cabin luggage limit must be checked in and payment should be done on the spot. Better if a penalty/handling fee is charged to these customers for the extra care they required from the staff.
Diligently weigh all cabin luggage, strict enforcement during check in for number and weight. Have a weighing scale and hawk eyed staff at before immigration/at boarding gate to reinforce rule. Be LCC and reap the rewards for a profitable year!

Just found out that Y seat selection fee also raised by substantial amount. Anyone knows when this was started?
Never paid for any MH Y seat, not sure if the whopping rise in seat selection fee will be utilized by many...

MH updated the baggage allowance here for elite status:
So for Lite fare, elite status customers are still entitled to check in luggage it seems:
silver: 5kg
gold: 10kg
platinum: 15kg.
5kg free check in baggage allowance? seriously? It is a bit of a joke, right.
True. I don't even take the peanuts and orange juice offered for domestic flights in Peninsular. But I would appreciate a meal for flights to East Malaysia, and I would always order a meal whenever I take AK flights to East Malaysia, especially if the flights are early morning or around meal times.
The tables are simple to use, both for MAB check in agent and customers? No?

He would have blamed it on the air quality of klia2 if I had sneezed there...

MH 66 - A380 to ICN on 5th July - very low load, 7 passengers in last cabin of main deck... return yesterday much better load, but still had 3 seats to myself for a cheat's 'lie flat'
-
MH 783 experience in Y :
pitch - can't tell difference between 333, in fact I found the seat to be more comfortable, adjustable head rest better and clutter free in-seat pocket.
IFE - larger screen, better resolution, more responsive touch screen. Had 5 movies, 60 episodes of Western drama, limited audio CDs. MH Select not uploaded yet.
For me, better experience than 333

“Facilities that have been identified to undergo enhancements and upgrading are the baggage handling system and the Aerotrain. The existing terminal building will be expanded and modified to increase the efficiency and facilities such as boarding gates and apron parking. These upgrades and expansion will be completed within the next five years.” It clarified.
According to Badlisham, MAHB is still decades away from adding another new terminal to the KLIA airport system."
Misquoted again la.....

doubt MAB can be profitable as they are keeping this 6 A380s and only flying them when there is some demand or likely when their A330s are unexpectedly AOG for some time. If MAB was able to hive out these a380s from their books by starting a new charter company, then their financial woes will be lessen. Still believe MAB should try to sell these 6 A380s again even at a lower price as its expensive to just keep them around to use only when there's demand as MAB still have to pay for the planes whether they fly or not.
A malignant tumour - radical measures to get rid of it to save life and limb..... although the A380 issue must be more complicated than that.
-
I do actually; I tend to avoid any airline that flies out or lands into KLIA2, too far of a walk for my aged, arthritic joints.
Ditto. Just hate the terminal for many reasons, long 2km track to the last gate on a 'suey' luck day included. One of my aviation resolution for the past 3 years is to avoid the terminal.

Watched live feed of the launch. Hope Captain Izham will steer MAB out of the blues. All the best!

Nooooo....not my kolok mee! 😭
Dont worry la, mee kolok wont appeal to them. They only love king durian and musang s#1t coffee . Was in Kuching last month, starting to spot some of them, but they were not touching your kolok mee, kuay chap or laksa Sarawak

My problem stems just from one fatal booking move made by OD with disastrous domino effect . I am pretty sure it was due a person in ticketing office with IQ of mean of general population /2 who made the mistake in KLIA yesterday.
-
Was screwed up left right centre top down front back by Malindo and Thai Lion Air yesterday .. and today on my own initiation found out will be screwed again for upcoming flights this Sunday. Too long to elaborate - took necessary precautions, yet got caught. Just that its sayonara, hasta la vista baby, from now on ! #F*%@LionGroup

Local will stick to the post because it is literally an iron bowl, you get rewarded even when underperforming, while foreigners just ditch it after tasting the bitter interferences/bureaucracy/complexities and the sweet seduction of greener pastures! Sangat kecewa and will make MAB think thrice before hiring another foreigner for the post. Or no foreigner would want this job given the bad experience.

The songket motif to me is symbolic of the veil covering MAB, its cloudy direction from passenger's point of view, although I am certain its management is all focused in returning to profit with the current high travel demand. The question is will it be able to sustain such strategies in the coming years
